  1. Hi Thanks for the Speccy link - it is helpful. Mid 60s is fine 86C is getting pretty hot. Some suggest that 90 - 100C is possible but there is nothing to suggest that your 86C is a max - it could well get hotter the longer you play. Take a look at the card itself and make sure that there is no build-up of dust on the fan in particular. Try running the game with the side of the case off and see if it is a circulation problem. I will not be able to post for a few days :(
  2. Hi Ray Your PM said that you had posted again - all I see is your post of 21st May above. Can you re-post and bring me up to date please ?
  3. Hi again thanks for the info above. You didn't answer my third question :) Forgot to ask - what is the make and model number of your PC ?
  4. Hi and welcome to ExTS Start > type in .......devmgmt.msc ....... ENTER Click the > next to DVD CDROM Drives 1. What is listed there ? 2. Are there any yellow exclamation marks or red Xs ? 3. Can you play DVDs and CDs ?
  5. Hi, Nev wrote .... . Can you supply the link please? This will give us all of the system information which may help.
  6. Hi Bob At least we didn't waste any time trying :)
  7. Hi and welcome to ExTS Not sure if this will do all that you want but it is worth a look. - it is free click here You should be able to scan multiple copies and re-order them. You should also be able to delete the pages you don't want before saving. You can also import documents etc etc.
  8. Hi Bob It is unlikely that you will be able to set this up as the vast majority of ISP supplied routers have limited user functions. EDIT: Just found this thread .... click here It seems that my initial thoughts were correct ....... not possible :(
  9. I can try to help Bob but I cannot guarantee success. Let me have the make and model numbers of both routers please. If the router was supplied by your ISP it is unlikely to be able to be configured to do what you want.
  10. Hi Bob I did see your post but was hoping somebody else may jump in as I am not too sure of connecting 2 routers in the manner you describe. Is the repeater not doing its job properly ?
  11. Hi Norman We can try merging the two partitions into one if you like ? This would give you one big C: partition by merging D: into it. To do this you will need EaseUS from here - click here ( it is free ) If you want to give it a try let me know when you have EaseUS on your system. I think you will need to create some extra free space first. When installing read each page of the installation. You don't want "Tone Up" for instance - so uncheck the agreement.
  12. Hi Neil I suspect you will want to keep some of the above/ Adobe Reader allows you to read / print PDF documents Compatability Pack allows you to open / edit files from newer versions of Office Java - there are applications and websites that will not function without this being installed J2SE is also linked with Java - you can usually remove the oldest Java version. Microsoft Office Powerpoint - not needed but if you do Powerpoint slide presentations then you will want to keep this. Microsoft Works - again not needed. This is an old version of Office. Realtek .....Audio Driver - this is linked to your Sound Card Live Update could be linked with Norton AV Inter Video X Pack - Connect with DVD supposed to improve picture quality None of the above are essential - with the exception of Java which I would recommend that you keep. You could also try Disk Cleanup click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Disk Cleanup. It will analyse your system and tell you how much space it will reclaim - you need to OK this.
  13. Hi - at home now with a decent connection :) The drivers for your card are here: - click here - There is an "Auto Detect" that you may wish to try. This may, however, detect the drivers that you have and tell you that they are ok without re-installing. We need to try re-installing the drivers.
  14. I use Open Office too - completely free. It is compatible with MS Office and will open any files that you presently have. I have found that if you save a text document in the default format MS Office can't open it. It is simple enough to save as MS compatible [ .doc ] though :)
  15. Hi Sorry I am so late replying - not at home this last week. Good to hear that you have managed to recover your lost data :)
  16. According to Microsoft they are not compatible :)
  17. If you have a volt meter check out the 6 pin connection and make sure there is a voltage there. It would help if you could check it with your old card and post the results :)
  18. Hi Hoggie, From what I can find - the minimum requirement for a PSU is 450 Watts Whilst a higher wattage would be better .....your system should be ok with 450 Watts assuming that the PSU is performing properly. Does this new card have any additional 6 or 8 pin power connections - and if so have you connected these ? If you put your old card back in do you get the same result ?
  19. Hi Karlos What results do you get from Speedtest ? http://www.speedtest.net/ Wait for the "Begin Test" button to appear ......be aware there is a blue "Start Now" at the top that you do not want.
  20. Hi, I am not surprised you are having issues - Office 97 is not supposed to be compatible with Win 8. Nor is Office 2003 Can the disk be read on a different machine ?
  21. Hi Norman Regarding D: Drive - it is possible to combine the two ( C: and D: ) but with XP it is not straightforward - unlike newer systems. You will need to install yet another piece of software. This is why we need to free up some space. Have a look in Add / Remove .....if unsure about a specific piece of software leave it and ask. It has taken me ages this morning just to get a connection .... I may not be able to reply until Monday. :(
  22. Hi Norman To answer just one question first: You have a C: drive that is 3.73 GB ( 3,730 Mb ) and only 48Mb of free space. This is not a lot of free space - and in reality the 3.73 GB partition is not very big at all. The lack of free space could be the cause of some of your installation problems. Where is D: ? You have one hard-drive which is divided into 2 partitions. [ 3.73 GB and 7.49 GB ] Why is it there? It is quite common to divide a hard-drive into partitions. This is usually done on bigger drives - using the second partition for storing photos etc . That way - if something goes wrong with the C: drive the photos should be safe and accessible. Where do we go from here? I suggest that you try to create some free space on the C: partition. Delete anything that you don't need. Look at installed software etc. I am not at home until Monday - and the connection here is terrible !! If I don't reply .....give me a reminder by posting here again on Monday. :)
  23. Hi Not an Asus - this surprises me as your error messages point to AsusTek. I am not at home until Monday - and the connection here is terrible ( keeps dropping out ) I would like to find up-to-date drivers for your Graphics-Card and have you try installing them to see if that makes any difference. I will have to leave this until I have a decent connection. If you can get hold of the drivers from the manufacturers site ( don't use any others ) give these a try. Otherwise I will pick this up again on Monday. If I have not replied - just add a post here as a reminder :)
  24. Is your machine an Asus ? Either way - Make and model number please ? Have you tried updating the drivers for your graphics-card ? Do you have another card that you can try in place of the AMD one ?
  25. Hi As you suggest - this may be connected to your graphics-card.......in particular the drivers. Start > type in ....devmgmt.msc .....Enter Click the + next to Display Adapters Are there any yellow exclamation marks of red Xs ? What does it say is listed there ?
