    Hi Have you tried in safe mode? Just make sure its not programs windows needs. Are you logged on as admin? Do you have Norton installed?

    Hi Welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help. Are you running MS Outlook or Outlook express or what are you using for your e-mail? What happens when you click on send/recieve? (One of the admins or mod must just move this thread to the e-mail section)

    That is just if you want to remove any unwanted or unused software on your pc. Dont just uninstall something you dont know. Post here if there is a program that you dont know about. Also i've found that screensaver and added toolbars normally cause more bad than good, but that is up to you whether you use it. Good to hear the pc is running fine :)

    You can check back anytime for any pc help :) Just make sure you are always protected against virusses. Do a scan at least once a week with another scanner other than your normal antivirus program (like an online scan are also good from eset,trendmicro or bitdefender) :)

    Also what is the specs of the pc? How much ram do you have? Also check that virtual memory is set to system managed size? Post back if you need help with virtual memory? Otherwise it might be hardware related.

    System idle is always that high coz as i understand that is how much of the CPU is free to use! So is the system still slow or has it improved somewhat?

    Hi What anti-virus are you using? Regisrtry cleaners doesnt really work and is not a good idea to run them. Have you tried re-installing the USB ports or update the drivers?

    When is the last time you defraged your hard drive? You can do that while you wait for the others to check the log. Thanks for your patients :)

    Hi You are booting from the cd first? Normally you have to press a key to boot from the xp cd! Just ruling this out as the cause. :)

    Also what you can do is go to control panel and then add/remove program and remove any unwanted and unused software thats just doing nothing. Also i found google toolbar and stuff like that cause more problems than they do good. Also Download ATF cleaner : here Uncheck cookies and recycle bin before saying clear selected. Also let Seth look at the new log Hopefully your pc will be running smooth again

    Hi Have a read through this page on the microsoft website. Tell us if it works. You haven't stated which version of windows you are running so i am assuming its xp.
