Hi The processor is fine, you need to look at the graphics card. Your graphics card, the Gefore 8400, only has 256 memory and i think that should be the next thing to upgrade. Hi Yes, they are covering the PCI slots. There is one screw holding the graphics card at the top, you'll also need to take off the SLI bridge linking the two cards, and if you look at the motherboard picture there is a white clip at the bottom, you will also need to take the power cord out the back.

It seems like your hard disk has bad sectors. Insert your windows disk in the pc then make sure first boot device is set to CD/DVD in the BIOS and let the pc start from the CD/DVD. The first set of options you see press R to go into the recovery console. At the prompt type: chkdsk /r and press enter. You should consider getting a new hard disk as the current one may not last long anymore.
