Hi, when i make new shortcut for download folder with *explorer* and *space* in front of the path name, right click on folder and pin to taskbar, when the download folder open, at the same time open another folder (separate) "this pc" and i don't know why. This happens on W8.1 not on W7. On W7 it's very simple (with the same method but on w7 it work well). I have try many methods, but none of them work. Have any idea of how? Ok, I'm probably not the first person to ask about this. Why on earth, can I not see any of my connected network printers under 'Devices and Printers' of Windows 8? The devices are without question, 100% connected and registered with the OS, as evidenced from their presence within the 'Print Queues' section of Device Manager, and various software packages, when accessing the 'Print' dialog. I want to schedule a windows task to run when a secondary output device (e.g., VGA monitor or HDMI A/V receiver is turned on or off) but I'm not sure which event should be used for this. It seems that the packages of .Net Framework - Update KB4340558 - are damaged (wrong or missing hashes). Install fails with error 0x80092004 on Windows 8.1 clients and Windows Server 2012 R2. Also KB 4054566 (Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2) seems affected. I've now round about 10-20 confirmations around the world. One user found a log entry: ?Couldn?t find the hash of component: NetFx4-PenIMC? So I guess, the package is damaged/botched internally. I am in a networked environment supporting several hundred users running Windows 7 Enterprise. I have recently been presented with an issue that appears to be a classic Catch-22 situation. There is a folder that is nested extremely deep in the network file system. This folder contains PDF files, many of which have extremely long names. Apparently Adobe doesn't care that the name you give a file is too long for Windows to handle, and does it anyway. So, these files now cannot be opened, copied, moved, or renamed. Attempting to copy or move them to a location with a short path fails, with the error "the file name is too long..." Trying to rename the files themselves (using a slow double click, or by pressing F2) fails, with an error bell sound and no dialog box. Attempting to open the file in Adobe Reader or Pro yields the error "File name too long". At this point we may need to think about a 3rd party option if there is nobody here who can offer another suggestion. Again, I wish to reiterate that these files cannot be moved, copied or renamed as the names are so long that this is not being allowed by the file system. Any help you can offer (that doesn't involve suggestions that simply repeat what I have already said can't be done), would be greatly appreciated. Thank You. Tim David More...

Hey, I recently successfully installed Windows 7 on my laptop that also has Windows Vista. I was playing around with it for a few hours last night, shut off the computer and went to bed. I woke up, started it successfully and played around with it some more. Then, I shut it off again, and, a few hours later, turned it back on and, when I click on Windows 7, I am now receiving an error message telling me I did not install properly and to run a Repair with the install disc. I did this and it said it found a problem and to "restart immediately" by clicking finished (it does not restart immediately, I have to click finish and then click restart). It also states that if the problem wasn't solved it would run the repair automatically. I restart it, it boots up and does the same thing. I ran the repair again and checked the detailed list of errors. It lists off a bunch of successful tests completed and then at the bottom it says: "Boot manager generic failure 0x000000e Root cause found: ----------------------- Boot manager failed to find OS Loader Repair action: File Repair Result: Failed. Error Code = 0x490 Time taken : 7099 ms Repair Action: Boot configuration data store repair Result: Failed. Error code = 0x490 Time Taken: 171ms Repair action: System Restore Result: Completed Successfully..." And that's it. I was getting the same error message when I had failed to install it correctly, but I fixed it (I think by resetting my BIOS). So, does anyone know how to fix this? UPDATE: When I select windows 7, it gives me instructions (which I followed, they are the steps I mentioned above) and at the bottom it says: "Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible" I assume this means that it cannot access my partition for some reason...? Customer is trying to run an rdp connection on their desktop to a unc path with an executable file. I get a popup that states "Open File - Security Warning", unknown publisher, and it give the unc path (\\server\filename.exe). If I click ok, the program executes ok. The customer doesn't want this warning. Have tried disabling UAC, putting .exe in inclusion list in GPEDIT.MSC (User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components >Attachment Manager- then set -Inclusion list). Have also tried allowing "Launching applications and unsafe files " in Internet Options. Lastly, tried enabling "Turn off the Security Settings Check feature " in GPEDIT.MSC. At my wits end. I have a HP EliteBook 820 G1 and cannot set up the biometric option on my device. I go to the biometric device settings and it shows up but once i try to enable it, it says "The selected fingerprint reader has no management application installed" I also downloaded the program HP Client Security and when I try to add my fingerprints it does not read them. I opened the BIOS menu to see if the biometric was disabled but it is not, its enabled. It also gives me the option of accessing the BIOS menu with my fingerprint , but since I have not been able to set it up I wasn't able to access the menu with that option. Do I need to install another program? or is there something wrong with the sensor? When I accessed the BIOS menu I was able to scan my fingerprint but since I don't have it set up I couldn't access the menu with that option. More...
