Using Windows 8 - Dell Desktop 1) Received "Optional Request" to Update to download large - Windows 8 nVidia - Graphics Adapter WDDM1.1, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.2, Other hardware - NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT and received failed error 800F0102 (several times now over 3-4 days. No issues with graphics when using PC so far. 2) also my Sound Blaster sound system had no sound, after W8 install from W7 - I have to go to the Sound Control Panel and reset to "Default" to get sound back. After a couple of weeks, I am having to reset most times - but occasionally it starts up and has sound with no issues. Tried finding a driver on Creative Labs but a list of many and not very clear if any one is for W8. No Optional updates received from Creative Labs to MS Updates. 3) My PC restarts nearly every time after initial start up and say "collecting Info etc" and report Driver Failure see internet! (nothing else) but must be related to the Sound problem as stated in 2) Many thanks for your help PC Saxon View this thread

I have Vista 32 bit system and have two windows security updates that won't install KB 2698365 and KB 2654428, I have downloaded Microsoft Fix it Center but still cant install the two items. Is it a security problem if they are not installed ? View this thread

Hello All, After A Hard Disk crash, I have re-installed Windows 7 32 bit Home Premium and let it get on with squillions of updates.All has been going well until an important update arrives. KB958488. I can reliably cause update to fail (it unendingly comes up with code 8024402F) by letting this update be applied. If I use the restore point to place the system before the update - all goes back to being ok. Update says this one single important update needs to be applied - and regardless of the settings in update (i.e. do not download or apply unless I say) - it will go an apply the update unless I specifically log out and then shutdown with the "do not apply update" option.The PC will boot fine and tell me this update needs to be applied. And I am back to square one. Once the error occurs, I have done all the usual things associated with this code - use the "Mr. Fixit" for update, disable firewall etc. As this is a new build, there are no Antivirus or other security programs installed. It is basically a completely clean Windows 7 install with all the windows updates applied prior to this one.... Anyone got any suggestions that do not include Mr. Fixit or turning off the windows firewall?! :o) View this thread

Ho provato anche a fare "manutenzione del sistema" ...e mi risponde che : "Spazio su disco occupato dalla cronologia risoluzione dei problemi" ...???!!!! il disco rigido ha oltre 700 Gb disponibili !!! mi potete dare un consiglio su "cosa fare" -----????!!!!??? I just purchased a new computer running Win7, and seem to have going through many updates. One involves the mouse, which seems to work fine without the update. The most recent update downloads ok, but there is an error during installation. The update/driver seems to be "Microsoft Pointing Drawing Microsoft hardware - USB Mouse". Error messae 80070103 is specified It's tough to ignore, as I continue to get error messages. What can I do? The computer is a Fujitsu Lifebook NH751. I doubt if a have a malware problem, as I'm running Norton 360 and have been online very little. Jim View this thread

I just bought a brand new laptop and I spent all day loading my files, photos, setting up email etc. Everything was perfect. Last night when I logged out and shut down, the "installing windows update 1 of 1" alert came up. It took quite a long time to run before it finally shut down. Then this morning, I log in and the laptop is wiped clean of all my personalization, all my files, photos, email account. Everything was back like when I brought the laptop home except MS Office 2013 was still installed (I added this the day I bought the laptop, 2/28/13)I did a system restore and it brought everything back but then it gave me an error message saying the restore process was unsuccessful and nothing was changed. Well it did change alot thankfully for the good. It brought everything back but now I'm terrified of allowing those auto updates.It seems others are having this same issue. I've turned off the auto updates but I know that's not a good solution.Any ideas on what happened? I'm so afraid its going to happen again. I keep a backup disk but this is a major issue. I am having problems with 3 failed error updates. I have tried the System Update Readiness Tool, using the Windows 7 disc which tells me I have a more up to date version so couldn't repair it there either. I tried another help area which said to download ErrorEnd but you had to pay for it and the reviews were a bit ordinary. If anyone can help it would be great as I am getting fed up with the messages saying the system is not up to date. View this thread

I bought an Acer Aspire UB this week and immediately had issues with it's ability to update anything; Tiles/Apps I got error code 0x80072efe, Windows update, error code 8024402F. Exchanged that machine for the same modal and have the same problem with Windows update - error code 8024402F (Ididn't bother trying to mess with anything else). I tried a number of solutions mentioned in forums on the first machine, including the command prompt sfc/scannow, and nothing worked. I really don't want to have to return this one too, but jeez, windows update not working brand new out of the box? View this thread

I keep having problem "failure configuring windows updates reverting changes do not turn off computer" I thought the problem was comcast constant guard. Spend a day and a half getting that off my laptop. Uninstalled norton. Everything seemed to be unfrozen so I gave the windows update a try. There is only 1 critical. The update was successful the problem in at the restart configuration stage. Frozen at 57% then failure and reverts back. What should I do? This continually keeps trying to update. Should I block it somehow? I am reinstalling virus software Kaspersky now. I am now frozen at the revert windows updates. View this thread
