Hi, I have the latest Norton 360 installed on my Windows 7 PC and now whenever I make a Google search my results are redirected to ads. I'm pretty sure it came with "Blekko" toolbar which came with another free program I downloaded. I have tried removing it from IE 10 and from control panel. I have completed full scans on Norton and nothing came up. I want to backup my files for safe keeping, but think I shouldn't since I'm having this problem, as it might be a virus? Should I be using it for banking or online shopping etc, just in case? How do I remove this (assuming its a virus of some sort)? Any help appreciated. - Jacob :) View this thread

Today's patch appears to have slowed down my Win7 Professional 64-bit system; on top of that, IE10 and Chrome 27 now crash spontaneously even when idle, after an interval of 30-45 seconds after starting. (On a side note, these forums don't appear to work with Firefox, so I'm using Opera to post my problems.) Other applications, which appear to use some HTML interfaces in dialogs and presentations are similarly affected. I accepted an nVidia driver update from Windows Update and found out it was a rollback from the version I had installed (to 3.11 from 3.14); the Chrome crashes appeared to target an nVidia DLL, but since re-installing 3.14 the Chrome crashes remain although they aren't localized by the reporting in the Event Viewer. I saw that one of the patch items for this update had failed auto-installation and did the update manually--the issues started after that. It seems related to package KB2808735, and I'm going to try to do a rollback, but I wanted to get this posted before I tried that. View this thread

Dear Forum, I am facing an issue in regards to when I commence and update on a Windows 7 32 bit machine - one updates - including Internet Explorer - just recently it updated to version 9 to version 10. The other machine Windows 7 64 bit - stayed with Internet Explorer 9 - but updated some sectors of the program. I have noticed that you can go into programs and see the features of what becomes updated. Can someone please explain why and how Windows chooses what becomes updated? This is what I mean in the below skydrive link https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=7A797BF1CB645296!905 I have not altered anything in what becomes changed View this thread

I have received 800B0100 and 8024200D errors several times during automatic updates, apparently for KB2604115, KB2729452, KB2742599, and KB2604115 (the update history doesn't seem to say which error was generated by which update, but all of these updates failed, and these are the two error codes I received).I tried all of the recommendations from help several times, including the System Update Readiness Tool and Fixit.I am using a brand new computer, with Windows 7 Professional SP1, 64-bit. The first or second time I turned it on, it installed about 171 updates.THE ANSWER IS NOT TO REINSTALL WINDOWS, BECAUSE I JUST INSTALLED IT FOR THE FIRST TIME, SO THERE IS NO REASON TO BELIEVE THAT I WOULD HAVE A DIFFERENT RESULT THIS TIME. I didn't do anything strange to the computer, or install anything unusual (mostly Microsoft Office and a few other standard programs).I saw that many people have had these same errors, and not gotten satisfactory answers in this forum (mostly it comes down to trying the tools I mentioned above that don't work, and reinstalling Windows or something similarly drastic). It seems to me that the problem is more with the updates than with our systems. Again, my computer is brand new, and these I received both of these errors on the first or second set of automatic updates, before I could have done anything out of the ordinary to mess things up. Basically it is what the question contains. I have tried the fixes that were pointed to solve the problem, but none of them really worked. Did try to run the Microsoft Fixit program, but it would not go. Also the Troubleshooting Pack Cabinet failed to get the Windows Update up and running. Even a command sequence provided by a fellow in the Microsoft Community I did try, but did not work again...I hope someone can feel it for me and my need for a good night sleep. Many thanksJuan V. I encountered the search-certified toolbar some time ago. I subsequently thought I had removed the item. Then when automatic updates presented at the taskbar it would hang without any dowload. I can access the web and the MS site, however, any attempt to go to downloads/update etc results with "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". "It appears you are connected to the Internet, but you might want to try to reconnect to the Internet." Most likely causes: You are not connected to the Internet. The website is encountering problems. There might be a typing error in the address. This message is common to both IE and Chrome. I am not sure whether a malware issue remains or an additional problem exists? I have Avast (free), SpybotSD and Malwarebytes installed. Avast and SSD simply scan weekly in the hope that they detect and remove threats. I have run HijackThis, however, when run the result was unremarkable. Following some web info I installed and run the following: HitmanPro; adwcleaner; and tdsskiller. Interestingly, some search-certified toolbar items were discovered by the above and removed? Prior to the abovementioned actions I followed a number of suggestions found within MS community regarding the failure of the update function. Again, without success. I am using windows 7 home 32 bit on an hp dv6-3230us. I first figured out I was unable to open my windows update tool but also my troubleshooting tool or system properties. My computer does absolutely nothing when I click it, as well as running as administrator. I've deactivated any AV that could be blocking. I've tried a clean boot and stopped any start-up or background programs that could be stopping it. I've used code found in these forums to try to reset my updater to no avail. Along with trying the malware scans posted in these forums. I do not have a restore point to work with, be sure to change that after i fix this. I've uninstalled all programs I've installed in the past six months. Attempted opening it in safe mode as well. I have been searching the community but haven't found any thread where someone gets no error message and theyre computer does absolutely nothing when they try to update. Please help View this thread

When trying to run Windows Update I receive an error 0x800f080d. I'm using Vista Home Premium 32-bit. I have run Hotfix for Windows KB947821 but that did not help. Also ran System File Checker -- still can't update. View this thread

Windows automatically updated last night before shutting down. When I turned on the computer this morning, the HP w2207h monitor was not functioning properly. Each time I rebooted, I received the message "HDMI Input: No Input Signal" before the monitor went to sleep.I do not believe it is a problem with the sleep and display settings as I have dual monitors and the EN9910 is functioning properly; both are set to NEVER anyway. Further, I have plugged our SONY television into the HDMI port and it works just fine.I have also plugged the monitor into another computer, using the same cable, and both worked just fine. The hp monitor also functions in the utility mode. Problem seems to exist only when Starting Windows. This has happened once before with a Windows Update, but I don't recall the solution. Please help.Thanks. View this thread

I rec'd a call from a "Technician at Microsoft", who said there is a problem w my computer that needed immediate attention and I should get on the computer and he would help me solve the problem.. I asked where he was calling from and his name so I could call back to verify the legitimacy of the call The number he gave me was 213-221-3528. His name, Frank Gomsh. I googled the number & found out this is a scam. What should I do if this happens again? View this thread

I have also tried the Troubleshooting Pack Cabinet with no positive results. I have been in Administrative Tools/Services and making sure all the settings for Windows Update were in working order. But not even that way I have managed to get the Updates coming. Can you help? Many thanksJuan Verano View this thread

I get this error when trying to update my x64 Windows 7 Ultimate. My computer has been offline for basically the past year or so. I tried all 3 methods in another post of the same name on this site. I also downloaded a system update readiness tool to no avail. I used the system file checker tool and this is what the report said: Unavailable repair files: winsxsmanifestsamd64_2c449a729dee04d3c47b39cf6606cd70_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16833_none_e4634cbbcabd129d.manifest servicingpackagesPackage_9_for_KB2560656~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.2.mum servicingpackagesPackage_for_KB2556532_RTM~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.1.mum servicingpackagesPackage_for_KB2560656_SP1~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.2.mum servicingpackagesPackage_for_KB2563227_RTM~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.0.mum servicingpackagesPackage_9_for_KB2560656~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.2.cat servicingpackagesPackage_for_KB2556532_RTM~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.1.cat servicingpackagesPackage_for_KB2560656_SP1~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.2.cat servicingpackagesPackage_for_KB2563227_RTM~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.0.cat There were many more problems found, but they were supposedly fixed. My old laptop is running XP SP3 on 32 bit sys. It just completed a MS security download/uptate and now I have a prompt from the Security Center that Security Essentials is turned off. I have started Security Essentials and the home page displays that it is monitoring. I have restarted my computer several times. The Security Essentials icon is green and displayed. I have run Microsoft Fix-It and it reports that there are no issues with my computer. How do I fix the message I am receiving from the Security Center? View this thread
