We are using XP in a business environment. We recently noticed that some user's folders in "Documents and Settings" on a particular machine have randomly changed to being named with all caps. This is causing problems with their profiles. What could have caused this? Also, some folders have changed to say the user's name followed by a period and our domain name. Not sure what's going on. I have a Win7 x64 Pro box that i use as a file server. I originally set it up with 2, 1TB drives and mirrored them. Now I've outgrown them and purchased 2, 3TB drives to mirror. I converted the disks to GPT disk to recognize above 2TB's, but when I try to create a Mirrored Volume, the option is greyed out. Every other other RAID option is also greyed out. Since the last PokerStars update (on 3/28/13), I've had nothing but problems with the site: connection problems, delays, the site popping up constanly when surfing the web, etc. I'm told by the "problems and report" center that there is a problem with PokerStars interacting with Windows. My wireless chip in a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop computer (intel pro wireless 3954bg) can find the wireless network if I use Intel Pro software, but Windows can not find the wireless network. My real problem conserns trying to connect a second computer; an IBM T42 Think Pad computer to the wireless network, but I keep getting a message that the network is secure and the second computer keeps trying to aquire an address, but will not aquire an address. It just keeps trying to aquire over and over, it never can aquire it. This second computer was useing Windows to configure the wireless connection and was working fine untill I tried to connect the Dell laptop up. Then the IBM laptop can not aquire an address. I am going around and around trying to figure this out. Anyone have any information to fix this problem? Both computers are runing Windows XP Pro SP3. I am absolutely tearing my hair out. My webmail cannot be read in IE10 but Windows in it's infinite wisdom has automatically updated and now I cannot access any of my business emails. There was no warning for this and when you click on IE9 in the download centre it takes you to IE10 again. I DESPERATELY need to go back or will have to start using a different browser (I have Google Chrome on my laptop at home and can access my webmail on there so I KNOW it's IE10 that's the problem). As if it isn't bad enough that they have foisted Outlook on me for my personal Hotmail account (which is awful by the way!). It'll be bye-bye Internet Explorer and hello Google or Firefox TODAY if I can't sort this out in the next hour! Anyone found a solution to this problem yet? Help!! View the thread

Windows XP Pro SP3. I was finishing a clean install on a ThinkPad R50e when I noticed that I could no longer download updates. Automatic updates used to work like a charm until 2 days ago. Security Essentials downloaded definition updates fine. Other issues I had during this install were the WiFi connection that was solved with a driver download from DriverChecker. I create a folder under MY MUSIC and created a folder, named PD Folder. After I completed copying songs from a source which shows songs in alphabetical order (A to Z), my PD folder shows these songs in reversed alphabetical order (Z to A).
