  1. Hi I can't figure out how to enable hyper-v on my laptop. I thought I should enable it using Programs & Features -> Windows Features... But it's not there :( Then I thought I needed to enable hardware visualization in BIOS, but couldn't find anything there either. I got an Acer Aspire S7 with a Intel Core i7 3517U CPU. Does anyone have a clue? Mikael If this answers your question, please use the "Answer" button to say so... Mikael - http://blogical.se/blogs/mikael View the full article
  2. I must be searching incorrectly, or something because I cannot find an answer.I am NOT looking to setup roaming profiles, or change the default profile. What I am trying to do is to keep or sync ALL user data from LAN PC's on a server share that is backed up daily, instead of having to back up each machine. It is hard for me to comprehend why this is so difficult with 7 and easy with XP.I can find articles that describe moving the "documents" folder, but what about "favorites" or "pictures" or any of the other users files that would be necessary to recover from a PC disk failure? I like 7 but this seems to be a BIG problem for me. Hopefully someone can set me straight.? View the thread

  5. I have a sinking feeling I am in big trouble. As administrator without pass code protection, I accidentally hit the lock button. The OS is Vista. I am not the only user, so I opened in safe mode and could not still get on. I logged on as husband, and it worked fine but I could not get on my account. If I try it doesn't let me. As husband, I cannot change anything. I have NO disks of any kind, as this computer was given to me from my sister, when STAPLES destroyed my last computer trying to remove a virus. She had brought this to "the geeks" to clean it back to original, so they must have created the original disc and not given it to her. I hope that there is a resolve. Any help is much appreciated/ thanks in advance. View this thread

  11. Dear Sirs COMPUTER: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit I have a scanner Epson 2480. When I had my old printer, I could scan and print on a plain A4 size paper by using a program called Epson Smart Panel. The old printer was of a good quality and was working perfectly when I bought my new computer. Unfortunately I could not connect the old printer with my new printer. The old computer had SCART sockets but the new computer has USB sockets. My new printer is called Epson Stylus S22. Unfortunately Epson Smart Panel program does not work with my new printer. However I can print documents by using Epson Scan but the output is not of a normal style but of a photo size. How could I print a scanned document on A4 size plain paper in a normal style? 12. SMART reporting says the hard drive where my OS is located is failing. WHS v1 says the drive is healthy. Crystal Drive Info say ID 5-Reallocated sectors count is bad Current=1, Worst=1, Threshold=5. I have run chkdsk which repaired a ton of bad sectors. System boots fine but it seems like prudence would replace the drive. My setup: 3 1GB hard drives SATA 1 - drive C: and part of drive D: SATA 2 - remainder of drive d: SATA 3 - data backup disk Duplication is on. Approx 50% of drive space on shared drives (1 & 2) is in use. Although I can remove drive 2, I cannot remove drive 1. As I understand it, I simply remove the failing drive, replace it with a new drive, and if I am lucky I get the Reinstall option, then WHS rebuilds itself. View this thread

  15. Hello, It seems that a bug appear in the Swiss French Keyboard layout in Windows 8. The Decimal Symbol is defined as the coma and the Swiss Standard is the Point. I tried to English and French version of Windows 8 and it's the same. It's Possible to correct it manually by going to "Control Panel" then "Region" then "Additional Settings" but it's not normal, i think. Can someone tell me if i'm doing something wrong or if it's a Bug (known or not). Chris Regard TTT SA Switzerland View the full article

  20. Heyla and well met! For whatever reason, windows crashes and sends me to the blue screen while I'm watching Netflix. I used two different browsers: Maxthon and Internet Explorer. My video card driver is up to date, as of a couple of days ago. I updated flash and silverlight, but I still get the crash. The insane part is that I can literally spend all day playing Dungeons and Dragons Online or Star Trek Online, and my computer happily works, just fine, on very high graphics settings. I'll copy and paste both my system specs, as well as the information I obtained using Windows DeBugger Tool. I'd really appreciate any help, as I'd like to be able to watch Netflix on my computer. -------------------------------------- System Information -------------------------------------- ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 2/3/2013, 19:01:56 Machine name: ORYARA Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6002) Service Pack 2 (6002.vistasp2_gdr.120824-0336) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. 21. I am having trouble getting my XP and earlier machines to log on to the Windows 8 machine where all of the printers and other resources are. They find it, it is visible in the Network, but the log on and password are rejected. I did set a password for the W8 machine network. The Windows 8 machine finds and connects to the other machines perfectly, but they cannot log on to it. The systems that cannot log on to the W8 machine are: Windows ME Windows XP Pro Premium Windows Vista Home Premium The exception is when I run Windows 7 on the multi operating system machine, it finds the Windows 8 machine and logs on with no trouble.
