My USB disc comes up with the letter 'J'. Because I have references to it with a letter 'X' I want to change it and I do that in the Computer Management tool with the Disk Management utility. Computer - Right click - Computer Management Disk Manegement - Right-click the drive and then click Change Drive Letter and Paths Assigne a new letter Everything works fine but suddenly after a reboot Windows 8 loses the letter 'X' for this disc and assignes 'J' again. I want all new documents which I create to use the Comic Sans Font set to 12 pt size, but when I create a new Rich Text Format document it always reverts to Aerial font in a 10 pt size. I have tried changing the font and size and then SAVE AS a RTF document in Wordpad, but each time I create a new document it is the Arial 10 pt text. View this thread

I am not allowed to get Microsoft support because I have an OEM version of Windows 7 64-bit. The support page simply states to contact the supplier/manufacturer of the PC. I built it myself. I was running Windows 7 64 bit with outlook 2010 64 bit using a WISekey Standard services CA 2 certificate to digitally sign outgoing email. I never had a problem. I upgraded to Windows 8 professional 64 bit using an in-place upgrade. I could receive email in outlook 2010 but whenever I tried to send email I would get a not responding message and outlook hung. I upgraded to office 2013 hoping this would solve the problem and it did not. Upon further investigation I discovered if I turned off the digital signing it worked. As a test I ran outlook 2013 in administrative mode by right clicking and choosing run as administrator and the digital signing started working. So it appears Windows 8 has issues with UAC.. Any fixes planned or any other solutions that always having to run Outlook in Administrative mode? View this thread

I just purchased Office 365 at Office Depot [and obtained a replacement at the Microsoft store, but that's a whole 'nother story] and attempted to access Office.com/setup with Bing from my Windows 7 platform. Bing couldn't find the webpage. Google did. And there is no way visible to the average [normal] person to find setup through the Office 365 home page. [i guess no one expected other sources than Microsoft online would sell Office 365.] Perhaps instead of having a sea of 'blue shirts' inhabiting your stores, some of those resources should be used for Beta testing your product by 'normal' people [i.e. non-Nerd customers]. Hi, I've a client that the start screen of Windows 8 Pro is empty. It just shows the "Start" word and the user identification. When we try to use find, it always display 0 items for Applications! If we choose to show all applications, the screen still empty. It seams that it has no applications. To be able to go to the Desktop he has to search for something, like Desktop, and then select a definition option like Change Screen Resolution, so it change to the Desktop Window. I've logged in with Administrator user and the start screen looks OK, so it seams to be something just for that user. I've already deleted the profile and loaded it again. It is a rooming profile. It loaded again se same way. So, I think the problema is already saved on the server profile. Well, it loaded with a difference. Before delete it, the user can't even do a search because it showed a message saying something like "The application can't be searched"!? At least after load it again the search works for settings and files, but still always result in zero items found in Apps. How can I get the apps back? Regards, Pedro View the full article

Hello, I have had Windows 8 since slightly before Christmas and have had no problems until a few days ago. I try to get onto some of the windows apps (eg. bing, store, sports, etc.) but it says there is no internet access. If i go to the bing app, it shows I am offline but my internet is perfectly fine. I am using asus pc dual core 2.2 ghz, 4 gb ram intel centrino, by last few months I can use freely my windows 8 without any problems, having maintenance at all. But yesterday when I turn on my laptop is stuck at "getting devices ready" i already tried to use automatic repair and check disk, I manage to log on when I tried to check disk but again same error occured. Hi I am trying to install the new office 2013 onto my brand new laptop. The file has downloaded but I can not get it to run and install error message cannot find file, please check you have typed in the correct file name then after that I get file not installed, please check your internet connection and/or the file size maybe too large please check your hard drive and retry installation.
