I finally got a new PC with Windows 8 64-bit pre-installed. I need to run the 32-bit version (in order to run several old 16-bit software). I purchased Windows 8 Pro which contains discs for for the 32-bit and 64-bit versions. I put the 32-bit versions disc into the DVD drive and was presented with the notification to put the 64-bit disc in the drive in order to continue. I was not given any other option. What can I do in order to run the 32-bit version? Thanks. View the full article

I need to reformat my C: drive because my old computer has too much garbage. However, when I click on the File menu or the Edit menu an uninstalled program that was't completely uninstalled keeps appearing to install something. I need to go into other areas on the computer to remove this uninstalled program. Obviously there are bits and pieces of it still in the program file. Any suggestions View this thread

Hello y'all, This is multi-question post, my apologies if it does not conform to this forum's protocol, I thought it would make more sense, than posting 3 different questions related to the same topic. Hope somebody more intelligent than I, can enlighten my electronically challenged brain! My HP p6320y desktop came w/a upgraded mother-board MSI 785GM-E51 (FX) military class II. It has DDR3 w/4 DIMM slots. According to the manual, I can use it in "dual-channel" mode. What are the pros and cons between DDR2 and DDR3, & single or dual channel? Right now, it has two 4GB memory modules installed in the 2 first slots (DIMM 1 & 2) The manual specifies to be sure not to interchange DDR2 & DDR3. Hence, if I want to max out my ram, & run it in dual channel mode. I need to fill all 4 DIMM slots w/4GB DDR3 memory modules for a total= 16GB RAM. Would running my M/board in dual channel mode w/16GB max. RAM make my system perform substantially faster/visibly better? Or could I use the cost of 2 xtra memory modules in a different way to give me a clearly observable bump in performance? While were on boosting performance, would upgrading my current CPU (quad core AM3 phenom 2.7Ghz) to something above 3.0Ghz, be worth the effort & produce a observable bump in speed? Or would doing both be over-killing the M/board's potential? Finally, the manual explains how to overclock my FSB in 3 incremental stages: 10%, 15%, 20%. Is it truly a hi-risk to ovr./clk. in comparison to the increase gained? Even on the low setting-10%? Would an extra fan counter the heat rise, thus allowing a full life span? Thanks kindly for any advice, Alan View the thread

IN the Control panel: Most recent check for updates; NeverUpdates were installed on this computer; NeverI previously posted this question stating after checking for updates, considerable time later answer comes back error:8008005I received a very technical email, with my limited knowledge, I have followed all 4 links,I really appreciate the advice, and have tried I think most, without being boring. I have found out from one of the links; In Control Panel : Reliability Monitor, and scrolling through. All Windows have been successfuly updated e.g.Update for Windows 7x64-Based System KB2679255 all have been successful. The only thing I was not able to do was switch all security off all four systems as I do not know how. Can someone just say don't bother any further,as it must have been successful but just does not show in control panel.I have utilized every repair method. Thanks once more to the person that answered my initial question.Ian View the thread

windows 8 Cannot add MS account in Store
News Bot posted a topic in Operating Systems Help & Support
I have Windows 8 Enterprise with a domain account (local admin). Store starts and I can update standard MS apps. Adding an account asks to sign in with Ctrl+Alt+Del and to fill in MS account, which I do but nothing happens. No error messages. After a few seconds it asks me to sign again. I tried the same in corporate intranet and at home. No differences. Any ideas? I have no problem using the same MS account in another computer (not in domain). View the full article -

Hello, I have setup a mailbox on Exchange Online. I can send and recieve mail from the Office 365 Outlook Web App and I succesfully connected my Outlook 2013 via IMaP and uploaded my old email to the account but new email that lands in the account (Outlook 365) does not sync to Outlook 2013. However, on my computer, email sent from the Outlook 2013 does go out and is recieved by recipients. Also, Auto Discover does not work. I have the cname on my 1and1.com account set up with autodiscover.outlook.com for www.mydomain.us but it is not found after downloading Set up and configure your Office desktop apps from the "Resources" and requires "manuel" setup. In the manuel setup it is not clear to me where/which server I use if I try to setup with the Outlook.com or Exchange ActiveSync compatible service. Thank you for any help. Mark View this thread

I have the software and a case with places for seven HDDs. What kind of motherboard and CPU do I need? Should I get a server motherboard? Is a powerful CPU necessary or can I use a Core two intel processor. I want to use the home server to back up my five home computers. I have 7 2TB hard drives but they are different brands and some are 7200rpm and some 5400rpm, will they all work together? I also plan to back up on the cloud also. What raid configuration is suggested? I was thinking about raid 5. Will I need a raid controller card and what card is suggested. Thank you. hayhurst2 View this thread

My Microsoft Account uses a Googlemail email address, so when I go into the Windows 8 Mail app I see that there but for whatever reason the Mail app appears to treat it as a Outlook Mail, not a Googlemail. How can I get my email account in the Mail app to sync with my Googlemail account? I am not interested in creating new email account within the Mail app specifically using the Googlemail email wizard, I went my Gmail coming through my main email account in the Main app. That means I want just one email account in the Mail app. Thanks. Then I press reset button on desktop and it finally wakes up. I've noticed that when I have no programs opened it wakes up properly. There is no problem with hibernate option - all is working as it should. What might be a problem? View the full article

I upgraded to Win 8 pro from win 7 HP (system builder cd) & win vista HP (acer laptop). Can i now reuse these keys on a new PC? The Windows 7 HP was used on my custom built PC. It was from a system builder CD i purchased from the builder shop, and i still have the CD. The windows vista HP came with my acer laptop. No OS CD. Now that i've upgraded the above two devices to windows 8 pro each with new product keys, can i now reuse either of the above two keys on a another, new PC? particularly the Windows 7 HP. Thank you. Original title:remote access I have clean installed windows twice in the last 12 months and both times when I look in Computer Mangement>Allow remote access to your computer the box is ticked. The reason I do this is because I allowed remote access to someone and had so many problems after it that I had to reinstall windows. Does windows 7 installation need this box to be ticked.
