So does this device actually work well on Windows8? Win7 it was "usable" but not "magic". :) I hate mice, but they are super accurate pointing devices, the magic trackpad (when I breifly used one on a friends Mac) is the only trackpad type thing (that I've used on any laptop/desktop) that comes close to being usable as a total mouse replacement, but it would be nice if it did more than just the pointing, and that you could take advantage of the gestures without having to reach out and touch the screen (for example when you have your tablet Win8 machine docked). Asking because I can't find mention of this anywhere on the net and I don't want to fork out $80 to find its a rubbish experience on the Windows 8 machines. View the full article

After I got my Windows 7 PC I used the Windows media Center to record 15 to 20 movies. I stored the movies on an external hard drive. A year later the hard drive on my PC crashed and I had to replace it. I have installed Kinect on a virtual machine to demonstrate it's capabilities at my work, I need a .XED that some one has created using Kinect sensor. I am currently don't have kine-ct sensor with me but I would like to showcase its capability. Any one that has this file please share or email me. I am using Windows 8 Professional and Visual Studio 2010 on a new laptop to develop Silverlight 5 applications. I am logged in as an Administrator and have set up the IIS 7 server with the same Administrative account. However, when I run Visual Studio and then try to launch the application on the IIS 7 server, I get the following error in Visual Studio. I do not think the issue is with Visual Studio. I meet both of the criteria specified at the end of the error message. Unable to start debugging on the web server. You do not have permissions to debug the web server process. You need to either be running as the same user account as the web server or have administrator privilege. If I launch Visual Studio as an admin, everything works. This is a real pain using the Metro Start page. I spend most of my time with the Desktop open and need to quickly use many different tools that do require Admin privileges. I am hoping that Windows 8 does not require an Admin user to launch every application explicitly as an administrator. Am I doing something wrong? Any suggestions, other than a hammer??? The hammer has been suggested on several sites that I have searched for help. However, I MUST use both Windows 7 and 8 as a development platform. Although the hammer is tempting, it is unfortunately not an viable option. I have other machines running Windows 7 and Visual Studio 2010, and everything works without issue. Normally when I insert the SD disk from my camera I get a little menu asking what I want to do with these files. Today, I am not getting that. Last time it worked propoerly was two days ago. It is not a new disk, although it was reformatted after the last time I took the pics off it. It is not a new camera. When I put the disk in the computer [Dell Inspiron 1520, XP SP3] nothing happens. If i go to My Computer, the E drive is not listed. If I look at disk manager (rt-click on My computer) the E drive is not listed under storage devices. Where did it go? I would very much like to get these pics off the disk and onto my computer. Thanks View this thread
