So my EX485 motherboard is toast so I need to build a WHS 2011 box. I want a very small form factor, so I guess a micro ITX or ATX moterboard should be used. I prefer an Intel processor and I've read that the Sandy Bridge line is good for WHS's. I has to have USB 3.0 I dion't need RAID right now. It's mainly used to store business files, Quickbooks company file, all our photos, and will want to stream out home movies from it. Hi everyone, We are in the process of getting our Enterprise Agreement sorted out via our parent company and Microsoft but until then we don't have access to software covered by an EA. Despite that, we want to get started on building a new SOE. My question is, can I install an MSDN version of Windows/Office (obviously using an MSDN license key) but then convert that to an enterprise licensed version later when our KMS is online? If not, I will have to wait until the licensing is sorted out and I have access to copies of Enterprise software. Thanks. View the thread

I need to wipe an old computer a friend gave to me. I can not use the DOS method because of administrative issues. I recently purchased a widescreen monitor (Samsung SyncMasterS23A350H) recommended display resolution 1920x1080 (16:9). This setting is not available in my display settings. The only 16:9 setting - 1280x720 - only makes things even more stretched, with black spaces above and below. Device manager says my display adapter is SiS 760. All devices are installed and working properly. Do I need a new graphics card? Can I download anything (free?) to get the right settings on Windows XP? What's the best solution? View this thread

Yesterday a program broke into my activities to say I had a lot of viruses and trojans. I did a lot of stuff in a panic. My WMicrosoft Security Essentials would not turn on. Apparently these programs have the ability to turn off one's virus protection. I save all my pictures to an external :F drive as my :C drive is almost full. A few days ago one of my entire Picture Folders disappeared from this :F drive (F:pictures2010-2011). When I search my computer for the folder name all the individual pictures show up in a listing now in something called a G: drive. But when I try to access any of these pictures I get this message:G:pictures2010-2011 refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer, or on a network. Check to make sure the disk is properly inserted or that you are connected to the Internet or your network and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the information may have been moved to a different locationI am connected to the Internet, don't have any other external drive, and the pictures don't seem to be anywhere on my :C drive. I have an HP Pavilion G7-131us laptop with windows 7 and It was inabled with bluetooth, but when i got it i uninstalled the bluetooth program because i thought it was useless and took up space on my computer. I am running Windows XP Professional. About a week ago, system start up became very slow, about 10 minutes or so. Once started everything runs fine and shut down takes the usual amount of time. I ran a defrag on the hard drive and a disk clean, but the slow start up has not improved. I noticed that I have not received any updates in a while even though I have automatic updates turned on. I went to the update web site and tried to check for updates and got an error 0x80070424. I then tried to run MS Fixit which said it found an error, but could not correct it. I'm not sure what to do from here, so any help would be appreciated. View this thread

Brand new computer. I have Thunderbird pinned but it just isn't on the all programs list and never was. Makes me wonder if any other programs are not listed. I received a call from Microsoft Dallas, stating my computer was about to crash and they wanted access to my computer to resolve the issue. They sounded foreign (spoke broken english) and connection was like a cell phone about to drop the call. I basically told them due to identify theft and rampant fraud I wouldn't give them access. The first individual put on his supervisor who was just as foreign sounding as the first man. What should I do? View this thread
