We have a server 2008 roaming profile network. If more than one person is trying to create a border in MSpub at the same time as another person logged on to the same profile they are blocked from doing so until the earlier user has finished. Also if a few users are working on a publisher document and newcomers on other PCs try to open a MSpub document (on same profile) often MSpub opens the existing users docs on the new users PC before their own doc opens. How can this be stopped happening? View this thread

Hey guys, I have a HP EX490 Mediasmart Server, Up untill yesterday i have no issues with it logging in threw RDP without and issue and for some reason today all of a sudden i can no longer RDP into my server. I can ping the server, i can see the server via network but when i click on a folder just gives me the constant loading bar accross the top and nothing happens?? Any one have any idea why the hell this would just stop the only thing i can think of is that i showed my brother on his ASUS Transformer Tablet yesterday how you can RDP in via a tablet and that was the last working time onto the server... any idea's would be muchly appreciated as i really dont want to loose all of my stuff on my server :( View this thread

I have WHS on HP MediaSMart Server, low-end model, but with 3 HD. The first two are fine, but the 3rd drive just failed. I have duplication set on all of my folders (that I care about). I have the messages saying "Storage Status: WDC xxxxxx SCSI Disk device has failed. Ensure it is connected. If this problems continues, add a new HD and then remove the failed drive from your server storage using the console". There are some other messages, about backup service not running and the backup DB has errors, but those are a result of the failed HD. My question then is since i have duplication on, what do I need to do to fix this problem? Can I just remove the failed HD, and because duplication is on, WHS will repair itself and have my files back? Or do I need to have a new drive to make it work? Or what? Little background. I built a WHS box a few years ago and have since added 6 1T drives. I am literally out of space, without options (including 2T drives). I love this dang thing! I am sitting on two brand new drives and considering upgrading my HP EX490 to WHS 2011. If I pull out the two drives that are in there now, add the two new ones, and install WHS 2011, will reverting be as simple as removing the two new drives and putting back the two older ones? Thanks! I couldn't get past the "network error" issue when trying to recover WHS, so I pulled drives 2 and 3 and did a reinstall with a new OS drive. The old OS drive is a brick, so I can"t mount it to get anything off of it. If I put drives 2 and 3 back in with the new OS drive, I'm sure it will want to format them. Hello: I had a situation in which my server appeared to be running smoothly (no strange indicator lights), but I could no longer access it through any method from any of my computers. The router and network all seemed to be fine, and I could see the server was there, but the tray icons were all grayed out, and I could get the server to come online for a brief moment right after a reboot, but then it would disconnect. I could not log on remotely, access folders, or use the console. So I read up, and found that with my HP MediaSmart EX490 server there comes a Server Recovery disk with two options: A Server Recovery that rewrites the operating system but preserves data, and a Factory Reset that wipes everything. I decided to go ahead with the former, as it said it would preserve my data. I read on various forums that this operation was tricky, and things could go wrong, but I followed the instructions very carefully (including choosing the allegedly lossless "server recovery" option), and the entire process went without a hitch. That is, until I reinstalled my client software and connected to the server and found that all of my data was gone. No more folders, or backups. I set up remote logging, and logged on to have a look at the disks, and sure enough, my one data drive is completely empty now. I read somewhere that it takes a long time to restore the data, so I waited a day. I read somewhere that you might need to restart the server and then wait a long time, so I rebooted, and waited another day. I read here that there was a hidden drive called DE that might have my data, so I went and found that, and all it had was the original, factory-installed client software files. I read somewhere else that it might be possible to get the data using some kind of disk recovery software, but I have no idea if that will work, where to get it, or even what to get. Was wondering if anyone can explain any of this, or what I might try next to get my data back? Or should I just give up, maybe? Lots of data lost at this point. Hi, System drive on Home server (C:) is all of sudden full. I check the folders inside C drive and found C:Windows is nearly 16 GB. But inside the folder C:Windows total size of all files and folders is only 3.6 GB. Higly appreciate any help. Thanks you in advance Okay, I got it .. Inside the "windows" folder there is a folder called "Installer" which is protected operating system folder thats why it was hidden. Inside the folder there are 10s of .msi files (like 2d8b3a.msi, 2d8b4d.msi........) whose total size is nearly 12 GB. can I delete these files? I run Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 (English) (Student Select) when I try to copy any formatted text or tables within the same or different Word documents I will always loose the formatting. I guess the point of having all templates on a network drive would be that it would be easy to make updates to just that one location, and then all users would use the same, and latest, version. So why does Office cache this XML data and image files? That way the clients won't notice if the templates are updated. Do you need to remove the registry key [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice14.0CommonSpotlightContent] for all users each time the templates are updated for them to receive the new templates? I, too, have a big problem with Callibri. Not only is it an ugly-as-sin typeface, but whenever I get to the bottom of inputting something in my notebook, using Garamond 12 pt. (the typeface I have chosen for my default), the program reverts to Callibri 8 pt., grey. I realize I can fix each instance of this by using "format painter," but that's a lot to ask of someone using a presumably modern piece of software. From other posts going back several years, I see that Microsoft seems to have a Callibri fixation, and that Microsoft hasn't fixed the problem. Our enterprise has already deployed Office 2010 globally and we now need to deploy 10 additional proofing tools via SCCM. I've configured the 2010 proofing tools Proofkit.WWConfig.xml to include/exclude the required languages. Below is s snipit of our Config.xml The installation is successful, The issue I have is that the languages need to be manually 'added' on the Office Word (File>Optiions>Language>Add additional editing languages) once manually added they all show as 'Installed'. However I'm trying to have all 10 languages already listed as 'Installed' wthout any user intervention. Is this possible without reinstalling Office? View this thread

Hello, We have the problem in Outlook 2010 (on two workstations) when we wan't to print an email the username of the printjob is changed to an domain administrator. So when the user who prints the job is called "robert" and the domain administrator is called "sysadmin" the username of the printjob is changed from robert to sysadmin. When we print the same email for the second time (when it's still opened on the computer) the username of the printjob is not changed. So when the the user who print the job is called "robert" the printjob still have the username "robert". When we print from other applications or Word 2010 and Excel 2010 we don't have this problem. Also when we do a quickprint of an email in Outlook we don't have this problem. Normally you don't see a problem in this, but because the people are sending password protected jobs they don't see the job under there own username. When they entering there own password for the job (with the wrong username), the job is beginning to print. When we look at the printqueue while sending a printjob the username is the right one, but on the printer we see a domain administrator username. Some information We have two X64 workstations with Windows 7 x64 and Office2010 installed on it. Our printserver is a Windows Server 2003 R2 with SP2. There's a printer (xerox machine) with the x86 and x64 driver of the same version installed on it. The people in our company send protected jobs and also unprotected (normal) jobs to the printer. Our Exchange server is a Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 with Exchange 2010. Somebody have an solution for this?Problems don't exist. There's always an solution. View this thread

Dear All: As I have received a lot of emails from my customers, I want to set up some rules to filter and actions to the email to move them automatically. I want to move the email with specific words in the recipient's address, sender's address, body or subject. But when I selected some of the conditions in the rule condition settings, the rules logic is "AND". I want to use the logic as "OR", which means if any of the recipient's address, sender's address, body or subject match the criteria I have set up, the email will be move to the folder. My HP is giving me the error "hard disk 1 SMART (301). What does this mean?!?!? I just had it worked on and it was restored like it was fresh out of the box and it was fine for about a week now this.... Please!!! Hello, I am testing Office 2010 deployment. We currently are using Office 2000 on Windows XP computers. I have a test PC with Office 2000 installed. I am using the Office Customization Tool for Office 2010. I have set it to remove previous versions of Office. After the install of Office 2010 Office 2000 still remains. I also tried installing Office 2010 from the CD without using the OCT. It never prompts me to upgrade or remove Office 2000. Office 2010 just install and leaves Office 2000 on the computer. My question is this... Is there a way to remove Office 2000 while doing the install of 2010 or will I have to manually uninstall Office 2000 and then install Office 2010. I am using Windows 7 (64bit) with IE9 and Office professional 2007 but with One Note 2010 because it prints in a 64 bit system. All the Office programs are 32 bit installations. I have been advised to install IneNote as 64bit but your website says all office programs must be either 32 or 64bit. I have lost all ability to print to OneNote from any application (including the browser), or to Send to OneNote from any application. I purchased OneNote 2010 in June of 2010, installed it, and it has worked great until approximately April 15. The error message i get from outlook is AddIns are disabled. But none are indicated as disabled. When printing from the browser nothing happens. Somtimes the printer icon will appear on the task bar but nothing is in the queue. I have run the office diagnostics. No Problems Repaired OneNote from the original disk. Checked AddIns in all office applications None are disabled Removed and added a OneNote printer. Read and completed an answer from William Zhou 4/25/11 The "Send to OneNote " device is there, it is set up according to the Zhou letter above, no addins are disabled yet it's not working.
