Hi Star TR/Drop.Muha.462027 is listed in the Avira VDF file that was published on Wed, 17 Dec 2008 17:14 (GMT+1) as Malware TR/StartPage.WD.1 I couldn't find anything on this one but I did find a TR/StartPage7.00.06.60 listed in the Avira Virus info as a trojan and was listed in the Avira VDF file that was published - Mon, 25 Aug 2008 09:14 (GMT+1) C:\hiberfil.sys is what your system uses when it Hybernates and can be as big as 1gig and as I remember your short on disk space so it might be an idea to ask one of the experts here on whether or not to get rid? more info here C:\pagefile.sys is a portion of your harddrive that is reserved as an extension of RAM so that is essential ProgramFilesDir/[installDir]/Resources/Devices/M2.jar This appears to be something to do with Java but what I can find on it is way over my head so all I can say about this is I'm not sure!!

the key question is does your graphics card support duel monitor set up if not then you will need to get one that does as Plastic Nev has already said is you have just taken one signal and split it into two. what you need is two separate signals out. as to how you do this is where I become usless as far as I know there are two ways 1 graphics card with a duel output 2 two graphics cards linked together in some way but if your patent I'm sure one of the hardware experts will see your post and advise you in the best way to get what you want.

Its how fast my bank accounts going to empty through March and April. but Hey-didle if you can't make the one you love feel special on that day whats the point :)

Administrator user become hidden

Its been a long time since I installed XP and its not a problem I hit with my installations what happened is I was networking a XP pc to a Vista pc and when I came to set the access permissions on the vista machine the XP Machine was logged in as administrator which vista won't accept in its files sharing permissions. so I changed the account name from administrator to the persons name and their settings disappeared and left me with a new blank administrator account and an irate friend now I'm assuming that steps 1 and 2 that you mention and I remember being there have been missed out. and when I changed the name I completed step 2, same as what temple's done. -

beeceebee I couldn't agree more, and didn't realise till a couple of days ago that it was possible, I always assumed that when you changed the name on the administrator account after first installing that, that was what you was doing. however it would now appear that you don't actually change the name but open another secondary administrator account and the first one disappears only accessible from 'safemode' and if you bypass this step because your the only user and don't see the point then it would appear that it causes problems further down the line. and when your friends jumping up and down having a fit because they think that you just lost all there settings a quick system restore and explanation of someone set-up your XP wrong, has to be given. if anyone can explain this better then I would be grateful -

Hi No Beeceebee if the Administration account isn't set it stay's on top and acts as a user account, so for the unknowing you put all your settings and everything into it and then you open a second account and give it admin properties, the first account disappears, leaving you with a brand new account with no custom settings. This caused me problems when I came to set up a Vista XP network as vista wont let you put administator in as a file user so you have to get round it by using the default 'everyone' user account but anyway if you want to do a system restore the link to microsoft how to is here -
Hi Don't ask me why but put it down to insanity, I decided to have a go at learning a little C++ programming. so off into web world I go and find this compiler free and find me a bigginers guide and start reading now everthing was going fine, open cmd window open notepad from window to generate a .cpp file, saved .cpp file :) now my tutorial says that the command from the cmd window is >cl -GX sample.cpp this threw up an error and generally said that -GX needed replacing with EHsc so I tried >cl EHsc sample.cpp and >EHsc sample.cpp and got access denied to both. so can anyone tell me how to get the .cpp file into the compiler from a command prompt or point me in the direction of a free online tutorial that works please.

Hi Temple Believe it or not I did this yesterday or the day before (Been to sleep since then) and got out of it by doing a system restore to a point before I set up the second Admin account. but I'm sure there has to be an easier way so I'll be watching this thread as the guys here are really good. -
just to add while I've got the thinking cap on, might not a grading system awarded by the owner/administrators on the quality and accuracy of peoples posts be a bright Idea or do I get a slap with a large wet fish for suggesting something that would create work?

just a thought and I think the answer is no as I've not seen it done elsewere and most forums are built round a standard template. But one of the things that i think is great about this site is the time or lack of it to get a reply, however this at times seems to work adversely as its possible for two people to be replying to the same post at the same time. I was just wondering if it was possible to flag a post so that you can see if someone is replying to it, even better who. or shall I just go sit up the corner with the 'D' hat on for suggesting something that would require that much code that the site server would'nt be able to cope or cause the page to load that slow we'd be able to go make a cup of tea (256k modems used to have perks)

Hi enp as I was reading your post I was thinking that this sounds like a Heat Issue and then got to the p.s. :) think that the best people to sort this out would be Tootech or Dalo but there going to want to know a little more about your system so if you don't mind can you tell us if its shop bought make and model and any mods you have made. or if its home built what motherboard cpu how many hdds and how many fans you have left working, It might also help if you mention what events happened upto the point where you had to replace the power supply -
dead hard drive, can i recover files???
Match replied to MrLeady's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
I don't know if this suggestion or story will help you much, but as the experts have got to the sealed bag in the freezer trick then I don't see as we have much to loose. and as I'm not aware of your financial position, or have taken a HDD unit apart in the past 7 years I don't know of the practicality of it with today's technology especially with laptops But..... I had a friend who was in a similar predicament of loosing 60gig of his own material, and after dismantling the offending drive, and examining the pcb board for about 40 minutes spotted the offending blown IC and shot off to collect the same make and model drive from his local PC store and me. with great care we managed to dismantle the newly purchased drive and transplant the circuit board to the old drive. with everything crossed and expecting a big bang we plugged it back in as a slave drive. and much to our surprise, shock astonishment it worked!!!! and after copying the files off it onto a known good drive ran it in mirrored raid configuration for a couple of years after till it finally died and was consigned to the pc grave yard. as I say I don't know the practicality of trying this with new drives today but I'm sure Tooteck or Dalo will advise on that, and it just might be an option to talk to your local PC repair shop about. -
Hi I notice that you are a 'Roadie in your sons Band'. I help out with my friends Band, Setting up the PA and monitoring the mix through the gig, hope you don't have the same 'where's everyone gone' problem at the end of the night :)

Hmmmm I'm a chocoholic, glad to be of help. that's why I joined this forum, I get to learn from experts and at the same time use that knowledge to help others who know less :) If you have any problems at all don't be scared to ask we all have to start somewhere, (Normally taking it out the box) and there is a small discussion forum for people to just talk or debate things.

OK so you have 3 USB ports 2 of which work and 1 don't, and the reason that your mouse wasn't working was it was plugged into the usb port that don't work. If thats the case I think that I have done all I can for you :) if you would like to know why you have a none working usb port I'll give some one a shout for you.
-
that depends on do you want your usb Mice working and on what it says in the device manager, about the drivers for your usb mice, if you follow my last post it will get you there and could you please let us know the makes and model of your mice or chosen usb mouse

What is entry level these days?
Match replied to Quacker's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
well if you can afford it I'd go with a Intel core 2 duo at 3.0Ghz, the question is how long before your next upgrade, and if you think back to when you bought your present machine it was probably one of the fastest processors then! and how far have processors moved since then? -

Yes funny thing is I have two sets of practically new Epson cartridges because of a similar problem in red, but mine were sitting in a draw already so it wasn't as though I had to go and buy some specially, and after taking the printer apart I binned it!
