  1. Ive just got an external hardrive and i have moved all my music on to it. This means of course that in the windows media player library where i had all my music stored, the music files have a different pathway and so do not play. How would i get windows media player to just play music now that it has moved to another hardrive without deleting everything in my library and then adding it again from the new location which would take ages!? Any help would be great, apologies for the bad explanation. OS is XP and windows media player version is 10. Raj
  2. Thats been a great help, thanks. Was just wondering if you could provide a link to get the latest drivers for an IntelĀ® 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset graphics card aswell? Thanks very much again. Raj
  3. i have recently bought a game called 'full spectrum warrior' yet cant run it. after installation i try to run the game and a black screen appears with a 'direct3D error'. im wondering is this because my graphics card is not good enough or i havnt got the right drivers? the graphics card is IntelĀ® 82915G/GV/910GL and ive got DirectX 9 and all the memory requirements seem ok. the OS is XP and its a pretty new computer, only a year old. Any help would be greatful, thanks Raj
  4. hey, thanks very much for the link but the pages are unavailable apparently. found out that the program used to compress to .wv is called sonarc, some old dos program so trying it from that angle. Another file extension that i have that doesnt work is .avi which is very strange. i have many files under the extension .avi.bc! which works fine but not .avi Does anyone know why this is? Thanks again
  5. I have just downloaded a load of music files which have the file extension .wv I thought this would be just a simple .wav type file but its not. It doesnt agree with any of my basic music play back programs or my mp3 conversion program. Does anyone know what extension this is and how can i convert the files to normal mp3 format for playback? Many thanks
  6. Thanks for the help, manged to secure the network. Its not running at the proper speed even though i have excellent signal but i think this is due to the router speed, the lack of memory on my computer and generally bad service from telewest. Another problem that has come up is that i am continuously getting disconnected from the network. There is no loss of signal yet every 5mins im disconnected and reconnected on the next preffered network. This is driving me absoluley insane and i cant figure out why its happening. Is a nightmare trying to download or stream music/videos as the connection keeps getting lost. Any ideas on this problem would be most helpful.
  7. Managed to download all the relevant drivers and its working again. Thanks for the help, much appreciated.
  8. I have recently subscibed to telewest 4meg broadband and bought a belkin G+ 802.11g wireless router in order for me an my flatmates to have wireless internet. I was thinking that this router was fast enough for us to recieve a pretty fast internet connection. I have setup the router on my flatmates PC and am reciveing the network on my laptop. However the connection is extremely slow, no where near as fast as i thought 4meg broadband was. It seems slower than the 512k broadband i was using before. I have also installed blueyonder internet that was provided by telewest thinking that was why i wasnt recieving the full 4meg broadband. Im not sure why this is so slow. Could anyone help me? Another problem is securing the wireless network. I cant find any program or find access to the network/router settings in order to try and put a password on the network. The OS is wondows XP. Any help would be appreciated.
  9. In an attempt to free up some space on my laptop, i came across a program called AvRack Realtek AC'97 which was quite large (over 2GB) and deleted it thinking it was just another program in which to play music from. This was obviously a very stupid thing to do because now i cannot play any music in any program. For instance while trying to play music in windows media player, an error comes up saying there is no sound device installed. I have thus lost all capacity for sound on my laptop, even volume contol in the system tray. Is there any way to restore this? I apologise if this seems trivial, im not very good with computers. The laptop make is Advent, OS is Windows XP. Any more information that you may need then just ask. Any help on this matter will be greatfully recieved.
