  1. The Control Center isn't going to help you with a game installation. However you do bring up some points I would like to mention. You restored your computer back to factory specs on Nov 5th. Dreaded Blue Screen. From then untill Now you still can't install this game correctly. Pc game installation problem. You are also getting Visual C runtime errors at this time. Microsoft visual c++ library errors Based on the last thread I listed it seems you have an HP. Based on the first thread I listed it seems this is a laptop. Based on everything I'll offer up some possibilities. It seems you have some dodgy or incompatable programs installed and you need to isolate and remove these. You also need to use HP downloads to get the correct drivers and software updates and totally forget about the Catylist Control Center. It will not help you and may be part of your problem with the errors. You should not be getting these problems if your games and other software are legit and compatable unless you don't have the proper updates. After all this computer was just reset. I think it's time to go back and undo what you may have done to cause these issues.
  2. felix go to the hp site wolfeymole linked you to. I just checked it for my hp model and it shows an update for the update software. We need you to check what is suggested to you and post back with the results or we can't help. It's worth a try. Are you only getting the VisualC++ errors when the hp updtate software is running or are you getting it when other programs are running? Incompatable software like some games that are written with this could be causing the error. But it could be any program.
  3. Hi celt. You've come to the right place.
  4. You don't need to do anything there with net framework. So it seems you do have a version of the control center installed. Am I correct? As Dalo Harkin noted you don't even need the control center just the drivers. If there is an automatic graphics drivers update I would let that handle the driver updates. If your graphics are functioning fine now I would leave it be. Are they working ok?
  5. Both windows installer3.1 and netframework3.0 are already part of Vista. You got that message because you already have windows installer3.1. You said you installed netframwork2.0. which isn't possible because you already have version3.0
  6. Hi chris. Have you tried running it with just one stick of RAM or switching slots?
  7. ash what game is this and where did you get it? That might help us. Since you just restored to factory settings have you updated Windows? You posted in XP but your stats show you have Vista. You also say you get the same problem on XP Home and XP Pro. Exactly what version of Windows is installed on this computer that has just been reset to factory settings?
  8. It's your option as to which course of action you choose to take here. If you still wish to attempt to repair this computer please let us know. Whatever you decide please pay very close attention to how to perform the steps and report back in detail on everything as well as answer any questions we may have. Doing so will help us help you. You should also ask yourself how this happened in the first place and rethink your ideas of what is safe and not safe as well as get good security products installed. Good luck.
  9. Welcome. Glad you found us.
  10. How to Perform a Windows XP Repair Install Contact your vendor for a new disk or look up the particular drivers for them from their site. What is the make and model of your PC? Be specific please and include the numbers etc.
  11. You are not clean. If you cannot download SAS you are not clean. Do you still have those poker programs? Why do you still have issues? You still have corrupted Windows files. Dump the suspect programs and get good security. Better yet use your disks to reinstall.
  12. What have you done wrong? Everything since day one. You installed many programs to infect and corrupt your PC. You likely still have them too. Have you deleted these suspect programs before running the scans? You have probably used programs to attempt to cleanup that are in themselves suspect. Many of these will do more harm then good. Spyware removal programs that are in themselves suspect and reg cleaners come to mind. The fact that you said you ran a removal program we suggested and it could not remove three infections leads me to believe you only ran one and did not bother to run the others or remove the suspect programs first. I could go on and on with more but with the errors and the messages you posted it seems you are still infected with basic malware that cannot be removed unless you follow all the advice given. Even then I think everything you have done prior to coming to FPCH has not only infected your system badly but steps you took at previous attempts at cleaning have made it worse. Even if you followed all our steps the errors you still get leads me to think you have major system errors caused by previous attempts to clean. I would suggest that you backup everything and reinstall at this point. You have done too much damage. Upon reinstall be more carefull in the future.
  13. Felix the download I gave you for netframework was wrong. That link was for the windows installer3.1 Either way you said you installed netframwork2.0. This is impossible to do on Vista. It would produce an error. Vista ships with netframework3.0 and the windows installer3.1 Both would produce an error when attempting to install. So like I said it is not possible to install netframework2.0 on Vista. Are you positive this is Vista?
  14. Sean you need to try to obtain the drivers via the links posted. If you have not tried what I said in post 11 please do so now. Another option is to use a different computer that can access the site and burn them to a CD.
  15. Have you got rid of any of your toolbars yet? Have you tried to run IE without the add-ons? Does IE work with your AV and firewall "temporarily" disabled?
  16. It seems Gokus suggestion has ruled out this being a IE browser issue. This might be a good time to follow our malware removal guide. Especially since you think there might be something on your computer. Your computer could be infected with Malware. Malware is software designed to infiltrate or damage a computer system without the owner's informed consent. It is a combination of the words malicious and software. The expression is a general term used by computer professionals to mean a variety of forms of hostile, intrusive, or annoying software or program code. Required Cleanup StepsDisable the Spybot Search & Destroy TEA TIMER if you use it and if it is enabled Run a Temporary file and cache cleaner (ATF) Run 2 Anti-Malware scanners (Listed Below) Run an Online Anti-Virus / Anti-Malware Scanner (Listed Below) Clear out old System Restore points If continued Malware type activity is present you may be asked to post a TrendMicro™ HijackThis™ Log file, do not do so unless requested. The reason to run multiple scanners is to ensure that no single scanner is missing something. The time it takes will vary depending on your system and your internet connection speed. Typically the SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes scanners will take between 10 to 90 minutes. The ESET online scan should take between 1 to 3 hours. In most cases, these scans will suffice to clean and disinfect your computer. Heavily infected systems or slower PCs can take much longer to scan and clean. 17. Vista ships with 3.0 Very strange that it says you need it. Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Release Notes
  18. I assume this is for XP. Just download and install Netframework. Note that it says you need the Windows Installer 3.0 first unless you already have that.
  19. Mcafee SiteAdvisor doesn't have any info on that site. However IE allows me to download the drivers just fine. Try using IE. If it's still blocked then it's your AV or firewall that's blocking you.
  20. That looks pretty good for a youngster. Simple. But as always watch the settings. Good link.
  21. I gave the site a quick look and read a few reviews. It seems to be a basic message board (forum) they are offering. With ads of course. It's all done online so it won't hurt your computer Is it safe for children? As safe or dangerous as everything on the internet. What you have to remember is that like any forum or board people can post just about anything. That's why we constantly monitor our site. Sure you can set up permissions to a point but if you don't allow posts what's the point. Attachments, links etc etc can make a site but just like posts everything has to watched. Just like with social sites never give out personal information. You know that well. And following links or opening attachments is just like email. Use good judgement and have proper security on your computer. The site itself is safe enough but pretty basic. It likely won't get much traffic but if it's just for friends or fun the standard use good judgement on the internet rules would still apply. Did I leave anything out mara?
  22. Notice the brackets around Kaspersky. Thats what Kaspersky calls it. You'll also see the brackets around Symantec and Mcafee and the name they call it.
  23. The instructions can be found at the ATI site at the bottom of the page.
  24. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the ATI software? Please do not use any registry program. There are plenty of bads ones but even a good one can cause serious damage unless you know exactly what you are doing. Mcafee SiteAdvisor report on errorsmart.com FPCH discussion on registry cleaners
