Error Message "can't Find Server" Hiya to all, my computer has been up and running for approx 16 hours or more without it needing to restart due to the problems i was having. I dont get the error message anymore and can refresh my pages fine now. I think it may have been the updates that you suggested i downloaded that did the trick but id like to thank all of you that were kind enough and patient enough with me to help and advice me. I couldn't have done it without you. A very big THANK YOU to everyone who helped. Hooray, ive got my computer back and running properly...lol Great site and great people who clearly know their stuff. Error Message "can't Find Server" Hi again, just did all you said and thank you for being patient with me. Ive installed all the windows updates needed and rebooted. All i can do now is wait. Hopefully it might have done the trick but i'll let you know either way.

Error Message "can't Find Server" It wont allow me to rename the SoftwareDistribution folder. It says access denied. I did rename the files inside System32. As for the list you gave me to copy, paste, save and run....the black box wont stay on screen when i try to run it. Also i went to Microsoft site and only saw service pk2 to install but it says my computer already has it. Im not having much luck am i....lol.

Error Message "can't Find Server" I typed in: net stop wuauserv and it said Automatic Updates Service is turned off. Not sure how i will correct and rename the list that was given on that site you suggested. As nothing else comes up to change.

Error Message "can't Find Server" I did as you suggested but when i clicked START then RUN and typed in: net stop wuauserv, a black screen popped up then just dissappeared off the screen so i didn't get chance to complete procedure. Tried it a few times but same thin happened.

Error Message "can't Find Server" I have a yellow question mark in device manager called 'other devices'.....when i open it, it says 'ROOT\LEGACY_HPFECP15\0000. I have no programmes running in 'start up'. After my computer was reformatted it had 'windows firewall and security center' installed also but i disabled it as i was using 'spyware terminater' as i was before it was reformatted and i had no problems then. I also have Roxio cd writing on here but it came with the disc that Dell supplied with the computer and was also on here before reformatting.

Error Message "can't Find Server" Yes windows xp was updated with service pk2 after being reinstalled. I have done all the scans and downloads that you suggested. The ANTISPYWARE found problems with adware an removed them. I then did the MALWARE scan and it too found problems with adware and removed them. But i still have the problem....also, i keep getting asked to connect to the internet even though its showing im online. Any suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks.

No 404 errors but before i get the error message of "Can't find server" i get a grey box come up saying: "Generic host process for win32 services has encountered a problem. Im on broadband with TISCALI.

Hi there, i have just had my computer reformatted and im using windows xp but since i have had the computer back i keep getting an error message "cant find the server" after being online for about 10 minutes to an hour. I am still connected to the internet but page keeps showing this message and refreshing the page never helps. I have to restart my computer everytime before it will work again. But still i get the same problem after being online for a little while. This happens whether im using Firefox or Internet Explorer. Your help would be much appreciated....many thanks, Ony
