    I was given a few different scans to run through on another forum Starbuck. I used these in order (although obviously for anyone reading this, i was told to use these steps for MY particular problem. So it's not advised people just randomly use these unless someone with knowledge has instructed you to do so) FRST, CCleaner, Adware removal tool, ZHP, Security check, Adwcleaner.

    Hi, i scanned my computer and when scanning with the Adwcleaner there are 2 registry files called KLM\SOFTWARE\CLASS.....(can't read the rest of the file and nothing shows up in the 'quarantine' part). I hit the clean button but those 2 files just won't disappear. I have scanned using 'Junkware removal tool, Malwarebytes (which don't show anything), CCleaner, then the Adwcleaner (which is where those 2 files are showing up). Any help would be much appreciated thanks. I am using Windows 8.1 on a HP Pavilion Laptop.

    Thank you for that link Bob...im thinking the answer is no to be honest...none of the codes work when i paste those ito the reply box. So it looks like im going to have to settle with the few basic smileys i have on my site. Thank you for your help anyway. ;) Ony xxxx

    Yeah sure polo...these are the instructions i gave her to sort the problem out: If you're using XP, you can disable it through Windows. Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Advanced tab. There should be a drop-down for what to do "When I press the sleep button on my computer". Change that to "Do nothing" and that should disable the standby hotkey. Hope that helps other users. ;) Ony

    Thanks for that Bob;) i knew Vista was alot larger but had no idea it would take so long. Plus i have nowhere near as many programs on this computer as i do with the older one. Guess you live and learn...lol...but thanks for the quick reply. As always it is much appreciated thanks. Ony

    Hi guys, just a question: is it normal for Malwarebytes to take nearly 3 hours to do a full scan on Vista when it takes less than an hour on XP? Many thanks, Ony

    Just an update to say all is sorted now. I found the answer on the internet for her. :D..It turned out to be a simple thing. Thanks for your replies anyway.

    Hiya guys, im asking this on behalf of a friend who is having a problem with the keys on her computer. Apparantly when she clicks on the left side shift key it goes into stanby and the right side shift key shuts her computer down. She is using XP....any help on why this would be happening would be much appreciated thanks. Ony

    Hiya Bob, many thanks for your reply. No it's not my new laptop, it's my older Dell one that was still working ok up until that point. Thing is Bob, although it is considered old now and although i was fortunate to get another laptop just in time...if it is possible to repair and it wont cost the earth then id like to get it fixed. :)

    Hiya guys, i was typing away on my laptop on another forum when all of a sudden i could no longer type. It just stopped mid sentence. Everything seems fine apart from that (which is pretty important). I thought maybe it was malware so i did all the scans you guys usually recommend but they come up clean. So i am just baffled as to why it would just stop allowing me to type? Clearly im typing this on my other computer. ;) Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated thanks. :D Ony

    No your'e not old fashioned....i think it's the nice way to go about things. Although when i joined i must admit i just jumped in with my problem as i didn't quite know where to post what...lol. :D
