  1. Some peoples and manufacturers terms of low profile differ somewhat - some class low profile as the backing plate being the same length as any other and the actual card and PCB being smaller. Others class the backing plate to be half height and then the PCB too - Its not easy to describe and without pics of both we are somewhat unlikely to say yes that will fit.
  2. Go into the BIOS and set the first boot device to CDROM - (if you are trying to run the OS) and then disable the 2nd 3rd and 4th options. when the PC boots it will say press any key to boot from CD ROM - press the 'any key' lol (homer joke there) press any key a few times and it will then start loading the OS. When the OS is loaded and its gone through the motions of restarting - if it then asks you to press anything again at the post screen DONT - it will run itself.

  4. Hi, Welcome to FPCH :)
  5. The problem with programs like that is that they make the components run at a reduced rate and some of the older software does not know what to do with Overclocked machines. (And get some pictures done :-))
  6. I have seen some issues with the older versions of AI nap - but to be honest - its not a needed piece of software really - it uses more power on standby than if the PC were on - just turn the monitor off and anything else thats not needed like the speakers - the rest wont make much difference.
  7. Hi, Welcome to FPCH :)
  8. Following on from what Mike has said - we do have alot of people on here that are personal friends, feel free to start a thread - no matter what it is (within reason :D and posted in the right location :D) We all have a sense of humour (except Wolfey :p) no question is too small and do not feel that people will laugh at you for posting what may seem a simple issue - thats how people learn and there are people on this site that can give you a great insight into PC's - Utilise what knowledge they have.
  9. According to the link that you gave the boards does support a maximum of 1GB of RAM - have you changed the setting for the voltage manually in the BIOS as 3.3V is quite high and I would have thought needed doing manually
  10. Hi, Welcome to FPCH :)
  11. Sounds like the GPU rather than the HDD - if the lappy is getting too hot then thats what happens to the screen when a GPU is overheating.
  12. The problem with buying an AGP 8x card is that it will only run at 1/2 speed as yours is AGP4x. I would opt for a new MOBO (with onboard GPU) that takes AGP 8x if I were you, they are only cheap and then get the AGP 8x card at a later date.
  13. Also an A:/ drive error reports that the floppy disk drive is either not present - or if it is present you have left a floppy in :) As Wolfey has said replace the CMOS battery and all should be ok.
  14. No one bit - I must be losing my touch :D
  15. Its fine Matt - its just the count on the MOBO as you are overclocking it takes longer to configure. When the BIOS posts, you will notice that you get a count of 2 or 3 as opposed to 1 (edit) You may get people going ARGH thats not right - but trust me, its fine.
  16. Vista should find the drivers itself - have you unplugged the sata opticals and then started the system and seen if the OS picks the drivers up? You could also try unplugging the drive that is not the OS and plugging one of the opticals into that and the HDD into the RAID card - Some RAID cards only support RAID striped and mirrored and you need one that supports JBOD - I bought 2 from the states off EBAY they house 4 HDD each card - if you need to I can give you a link - but try what I have suggested above beforehand
  17. Your welcome - as always, any other questions let us know
  18. Surely the browser used by so many of my dear friends here is not having problems  Cue Wolfey,Randy.........................
  19. It should read them - have you installed the drivers in windows and then attached the opticals?
  20. If it's the inbuilt graphics then you need a new MOBO - I am not sure if you can change the GPU on that model - and if you can it wont be cheap - easier to replace the whole MOBO - or get a new lappy
  21. You need to set the first boot device in the BIOS to CDROM and then load the OS and when the OS is fully loaded, re enter the BIOS and set the first boot device to HDD and disable the others.
  22. The GPU is capable of sound - BUT its normally through an HDMI cable as the video and the sound travel on the same channel unlike most PC's as you have a DVI or VGA input for the video and jacks for the audio. unless you are running HDMI - no sound should be coming from the GPU even though it is capable of doing so
  23. Hi, Welcome to FPCH :)
  24. It sounds like you have edited the 'open with' option - get some kind of file that you are referring to and save it to the desktop then right click on the file and then properties - then under the general tab at the top of the description should say opens with - I am guessing yours is set to IE or similar - click change and find media player and apply then exit and all should be ok :D
