  1. It is not cheap - but it will last you a few years before the requirements start to slip and even then you only need to add a few bits here and there not a full rebuild :D When its all together and you are playing C&C3 or Fallout 3 it makes it all worth while :)
  2. Try taking one of the RAM sticks out and try and boot - if there is no difference then restart and plug that one back in and take the other out and see if its any better
  3. Do you have a spare HDD that you could try and install and run the OS on that? It is very hard to try and see whats wrong with problems like this as we are not physically there, as a note when you reply can you please try and include as much info to help us as you can.
  4. Are you using the burn data disk option?? If so then it does sound like an issue with the burner - a firmware update would be the next course of action
  5. Your welcome - :)
  6. Typical - I only really get parts that I can drive to collect and at a puch order some stuff like games etc over the net. As for that monitor its unsure as like you say it says VGA, but on the description DVI, very odd - if the old one is now back in stock then get that one as its far better - I would ring them and really kick off, talk to someone who can actually do something like a manager not a phone minion. Edit to your Edit - that Samsung looks very good for that price - I like Samsung stuff its good quality, and their support is good
  7. I just checked AVG are aware and are working on a fix - so all is ok :D
  8. Shrimps - use Office mate - its so much better for things like that
  9. What program are you using to try and do the burning with? alot of players need firmware updates - ask your friend to do this if you are unsure as a bad firmware update can leave the drive inoperable.
  10. Its probably just a false positive - what AV are you using?
  11. AVG is an extremely weak Antivirus program - you would be FAR better downloading AVAST or AVIRA FREE versions.
  12. Matt, Your not having much luck with this are you :( That monitor seems fine, you could get them to do it next day delivery as they didnt originally have the one you wanted and you had to choose another, ring them and see what they say, I think its only about £7 for delivery on a Saturday anyway
  13. When you go to the AMD/ATI website for the drivers you DONT have to download the Catalyst Suite, you can just get the display driver.
  14. Hi Chris, I would get the Q6600 as they are more powerful and futureproof over a dual core. Have a look at polo's thread but be aware that SOME MOBO's hate Q6600 chips as they cannot handle the voltage drops of the chip - One that does is in my sig - The ASUS P5K Premium :) If you need any help about other components or the build then shout up - and I use scan for most of my components, them and Microdirect.
  15. Hi, Welcome to FPCH :)
  16. From what you describe the CPU heatsink is broke - are there any other fans connected to the Motherboard? and are these working? The bearings in the fan could have over time got stuck and melted some of the plastic.
  17. Try here - I cannot access any of them at my current location, let us know eMachines M5116 - Drivers
  18. Right - when you install the OS - and the system is all installed the next time it restarts, you need to go back to the BIOS and set the first boot device to HDD. or the system will run in a loop trying to install the OS if you leave the boot device as CDROM and the CD in the drive. There could be an issue with the HDD or the MOBO - if its a heat issue that would more likely point to the MOBO being faulty.
  19. Cant remember if I asked this, but who put the thermal paste on? 30 degrees is not alot and it should not overheat at that - if the GPU cooled sufficiently and the HDD's too? Glad the CPU fan, now works :)
  20. It's not one that I am familiar with but I had a look www.threatexpert.com/threats/trojan-downloader-win32-agent-kxn.html
  21. Haggle Haggle - your about to put £150 of business their way!
  22. I had a quick look and this one seems one of the best that I could find in that price range LG L197WH 19" TFT Monitor 1440x900 300cd/m2 5000:1 (dynamic) 2ms 16:9 VGA/DVI Glossy Black 3 Years Warranty - Ebuyer Lol - I didnt read your post and we both chose the same one - get that
  23. If you are getting from ebuyer then do they not have any decent monitors on?? let me have a look :D
  24. If I am not mistaken SYGATES own aadvanced settings check the firewall for strength - It always made me laugh as SYGATE are owned by NORTON and we know how bad that is  Mara - can I ask why you are using SYGATE as it's more common for server applications?
  25. You cannot even compare ASROCK to ASUS  I would if you need to have wireless go for the ASUS as its a fantastic board - try and find a bad review - and with a decent cooler you can OC' the Quad to 3.3 on air :D It really is your choice mate, but you are paying £75 for the board at the moment and then £20-£30 for a decent wireless device, your pretty much there for the ASUS
