  1. It seems that you have an excessive amount of startup items loading and shutting down:- run msconfig from run or cmd.exe. and post whats listed in there on the startup tab. You could have a memory problem, have you run memtest? if you press CTRL + ALT + DEL what are the main 'hogs' of RAM?
  2. Wolfey loves the jokes really :D
  3. Check the fan in the other header first as if that then works you just need an extention to the cable and I will source one for you - if it doesnt work then I will source you an external controller ok. You dont want to needlessly spend money thats all
  4. Yes - just make sure that you get the 45nm Quad as they do a 65nm one too.
  5. Right - time to shop for an external fan controller :( They are only about £10 for a cheap one and £40 for an all singing all dancing real time power consumption one like mine :D Actually before you do that remove the fan from the heatsink (it should just clip on) and try it on the header at the bottom right of the board to see if it then works - if it does you need either an external fan controller or a cable to entend the cable.
  6. Right - its under Advanced BIOS - PC health status - there are options like CPU fan SMART control (ENABLE THIS)
  7. We dont call him the puppy anymore - Wolfey is sufficient :D
  8. Advanced BIOS - you are looking for something called QFan on ASUS boards
  9. Don't worry I won't tell the Admins :D writing in small letters used to fool Randy and Wolfey as they are old, but me and Mike are not and will catch you :D
  10. It will be in the overclocking part of the BIOS top left and then under fan controls (I think its the top one again) and set them all to enable.
  11. I am sorry that we cannot help further - but there are so many specific software issues and it comes down to the developers to release patches etc, that being said you can normally get past installing the game - does it try and connect to the internet to validate the key at all?? where are you buying the game from?? a big company like GAME or PLAY.COM or just a shop near you? you could have expired the key if you have installed/uninstalled so many times and if thats the case you need to wait for Konami to come back to you
  12. Im not sure about the Motherboards - i dont buy Gigabyte (check on their website that they are compatible with QUADS) Asus Monitor seems better. Other than that you are cooking on Gas :)
  13. Have you checked the settings in the BIOS - you can DISABLE the fan headers from working - check that they are ENABLED
  14. Thats a rip from desperado ;)
  15. lol - I just had an image of someone with a big catapult firing chickens at objects, I know we shouldnt laugh at such things, but come on its like a sketch I saw years ago about testing on animals and it had all this slow music on and it slowly panned to a monkey in a dress putting lipstick all over its face - made me crack up - It was the TV show that had all the foreign adverts and the classic of the woman that fell out the window eating a flake. :D:D
  16. NO, No other explanation is needed :D
  17. Right - you need to start again and use RAID - if you can find/know which of the drives was the OS drive then you could reformat that one, install the OS again and then transfer the data off the other 2 and then use a RAID mirrored solution to make use of the other 2 drives and make sure that the data is backed up. you at worst should only need to buy another drive if the one that had the OS on is completely beyond salvage.
  18. Did it come with any heat paste on it? did you put any on? you may not have alot on and the processor is not being cooled sufficiently as the heat is not passing to the heatsink.

  20. AVG is a very weak AV program - NOD32 as a paid version is one of the best and for a free version AVAST/AVIRA are 2 of the best
  21. All I can suggest is that you check that you are logged on as an administrator, have no other tasks running when you install the game. I know that some companies have limited the amount of times a serial number can be used (5 I think) and this may be one of them, how many times have you reinstalled? I found this www.pesgaming.com/showthread.php?p=1350097 - 102k and it may be worth a look KONAMI contact details http://uk.games.konami-europe.com/ or http://www.konami.com
  22. When we published our full featured review of the new Intel Core i7 processors earlier this week, it was made clear that the Core 2 successor would be a worthy one. What wasn't as obvious was the date when Intel would officially launch the Core i7 and announce its availability. In other words this Monday's affair was a soft launch. We have now learned that Intel will make Nehalem's release official next November 17th at an analyst event in San Francisco, CA. The company expects PC manufacturers to begin offering desktops equipped with Core i7 processors immediately. As noted in our review, Intel will release three versions of the Core i7, all aimed at performance desktop machines. List pricing for the Core i7 920 model will be $284, the 940 will go for $562, while the 3.2GHz 965 Extreme Edition model will cost $999, when bought in quantities. You can expect standalone parts for building systems to become available by the end of the month, however don't be surprised to have them selling at a premium at least for the remainder of the year. 23. Fallout 3 has been a long time coming, but it seems the wait and anticipation has paid off for Bethesda. The company has announced it shipped around 4.7 million copies of the PS3, 360 and PC game to stores worldwide last week, “representing” retail sales of more than $300 million – just how much of that shipment has actually been sold remains unknown, though. The game went on sale last week in the U.S., as some 2,000 retailers held special late night launch parties. We'll probably see more accurate numbers shortly from NPD, but Fallout 3 certainly appears to be living up to the hype, receiving high marks from many leading video game websites. In any case, the game has already seen a significant leap in sales compared to Bethesda’s last game, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, with first-week sales of Fallout 3 being 57 percent higher. sourced from Fallout 3 ships 4.7 million units during launch week - TechSpot News
  24. AMD has announced plans to cut 500 jobs as part of its ongoing “asset light” effort to reduce expenses and reach a break-even point of $1.5 billion in quarterly revenue. This is their second round of job cuts this year, following an announcement in April to layoff around 1,600 staffers, or about 10% of its workforce at the time. AMD has been trimming the fat lately, and is currently in the process of splitting into two businesses: one that focuses on microprocessor design and another that will manufacture them. The company now has some 15,000 employees and plans to have the majority of them handling processor designs, while roughly 3,000 will head to newly-formed The Foundry Company early next year.
