  1. Hi, Welcome to FPCH :)
  2. No problem. and dont forget a pic when its all built! :D
  3. Its very easy to take a HDD out and then run it as a 'slave' to get your data off it - but to do this you must have another disk with the OS on it. If you only have this disk then you would need to reformat it for the OS and that would mean losing your data - EASIEST way is to back up what you need to CD/DVD and then reformat.
  4. He he - yes you can (Virtually), but why would you run an inferior OS :D
  5. Come on Wolfey - stop avoiding the ''main advantage'' that people who use FF say is apparent ;)

  8. Hmmm - Right - Depending on what External caddy you have there are a few reasons what could have happened:- Some Externals when bought have 2 HDD's set up in a RAID configuration so you would have 2x750GB HDD's in the Caddy running in Mirrored mode. When you unplugged it you crashed the RAID system on it and it now shows as a touch over 1TB because its not running in RAID and recognising 2 seperate disks. Third reason is that you could have got a 1.5TB drive but these cost close to £200 so I doubt it :D
  9. AVIRA and AVAST are very good free AV programs - but you have to remember that they are just AV - for all round protection you are far better off with a suite such as NOD32
  10. I dont know what you mean by the above (in red) I presume that you are meaning the firmware - and some writers need firmware updates to recognise new media - in the same way that BIOS's need updating to recognise new hardware - The reason this is done is because the hardware or the media is newer than the drive or MOBO and they need to be MADE to see the media/hardware

  13. Another Windows user - signed up :D:D
  14. Ah right on que :D Sorry Wolfey IE7 will not access that page - but I also tried:- www.Wolfeymole-is-he-a-superhero-or-a-mental-patient.co.uk just to be sure ;)
  15. Absolutely not :D And if my Blackberry ever broke then thats my idea of Armageddon lol (I await a comment from Wolfey :D)
  16. There are pros and cons for both - BUT Windows based laptops are cheaper - she could even get a netbook for around £200 for just browsing the net and the odd word/excel doc - the software is readily available as are games etc - and people know how to use windows - if your sister has never used a MAC OS then I would suggest against it - as Saxon has said people tend to buy macs for specific reasons and general usage is not one of them in my opinion.
  17. If you do not have a disk - you will have a recovery partition on the Drive and you may have to reformat - it is the quickest way and will get rid of most Viruses.
  18. Happy Birthday :)
  19. Happy Birthday matey :)

  21. Hi, Welcome to FPCH :)
  22. It just sounds like the drivers are not installed - or not installed properly - when you bought the PC - there should have been some disks with it - maybe labelled something like ''Utilities and Tools'' or ''Drivers'' And reinstall from that after removing the other ones from add/remove if they are there.
  23. Yes - it just means that 4 is for AMD and 8 is INTEL - it should have some with like a capping plate for the other 4 ??
  24. Hi, Welcome to FPCH :)
  25. Hi, Have a look here You can no longer access the CD drive or the DVD drive, or you receive an error message after you remove a CD recording program or a DVD recording program in Windows XP: "error code 31" and this one is for using the registry editor http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;256986
