  1. I think the connections are fine ''i have to keep doing this util it comes on and runs properly''
  2. there are no photos of the back/cables I would say that the white cable is the front cable and from the looks of them they have built in subs - so that will be the red cable. Hope this helps.
  3. Ok - I cant stress strongly enough of backing photos and videos (any data you want to keep) onto a CD or a DVD - for the sake of 10 minutes work - you will keep your photos and data safe, for many years. If you have a lot of information/data then I know this is not always viable then a RAID (mirrored) solution is safe
  4. Ok - so you have a red and a whilte cable from the speakers? There are 2 speakers or 2 speakers and a sub?
  5. I have an 8GB flash drive that has readyboost - if I install this to offload some of the DATA from the RAM - it makes no difference whatsoever - As for gaming - Chris is right - the CPU and the GPU will be the bottle neck not the RAM
  6. SPDIF is for digital speakers they connect differently than analog (the red, blue and green ports) thats all - should not have made a difference Red is Subwoofer Blue is back speakers Green is front speakers There are variations of these:- Yellow - Subwoofer Black - Back Blue - front If you are getting popping then they are not seated right in the ports and the popping is static
  7. Easiest and quickest way is to 'slave' the drive on another PC - does no one you know have SATA capability? If its booting the PC when its not installed - then I am afraid it is likely that the HDD is dead - but try in another PC and see what happens
  8. This is only for Dual Channel RAM matey ;)
  9. Ok, we will take this problem as solved unless you post otherwise.
  10. Saxon, Have a look here - Scan.co.uk: Computer Hardware - All - Motherboards-AMD (the top 3 boards) But what are you reasons for opting for a dual CPU setup as opposed to a Quad core setup?
  11. Hi, Welcome to FPCH :)
  12. Sorry I just got to this now Jack :D Many happy returns and why are you not in work?? lol
  13. Your GPU - (graphics card) is a budget one and while it may be able to play the games - I am guessing that you are trying to play them at your native resolution 1280x1024? and that is where it will be tripping the card - try and reduce the 'eye candy' like the AA and AF to none and see if that helps - you can normally do this VIA the driver - or just try dropping the resolution to 1024x768 to see if that helps.
  14. DVI - DVI - is better than DVI - HDMI ALL PC screens are High Definition and they always have been since the days of DVI The only difference with HDMI is that the max res is 1920x1200 but DVI is far greater than this - HDMI also carries the sound on the same channel whereas the DVI does not
  15. Sorry to add to this - we are not barraging you Dorsil:- Dorsil - you know the forum rules and as others have said we have been in the same situation before with you and P2P - if you use P2P for whatever reason be them honest or not - It will be the root of your problem - people do not care if you are using it for honest reasons they use such methods to spread Malware and Viruses and the best defence against this is to not use P2P.
  16. Did you uninstall the old version of Adobe or just install the newer one over it? Did you d/l Adobe from their site or another - nothing to do with Adobe would have caused you network icons to not appear? type msconfig into run command and look at the startup tab and make sure that nothing to do with networking is unticked
  17. Joe - Tell me what the MOBO and CPU is that you have in place at the moment and what budget that you have. You must also bear in mind that you are VERY constricted with a 250Watt PSU
  18. You mentioned an ATI card and an NVIDIA card - are you now just using the 6200 (Nvidia) and you have installed the latest drivers and followed the advice on removing the older ones? if there is still a blank screen the the Monitor or the GPU is faulty
  19. This is SPOT ON - as Kelly has said you do not need more RAM - if you were using a 64 bit OS then there are arguments for and against, but NO program that you would be running on that laptop would need 4GB of RAM. Stay with 2GB and tidy up the OS (deleting old programs you no longer use) and startup items to get it to run more efficiently.
  20. Well let's not get carried away - I thought Shaun of the dead was scarier than Dog Soldiers
  21. As you say that you can use the keys and the mouse and only the touchpad is affected - then as Ken has said - wait a while and allow it to dry - I would not recommend stripping the laptop at this point. I have seen allsorts of crazy things people have tried when they have got electronics wet - the best I ever saw (and I do not recommend you try it) was leaving a blackberry in a tub of uncooked rice - as it draws the moisture out :)
  22. Hi, Welcome to FPCH :)
  23. Some cartridges are just awkward they have funny little tabs of plastic on them and printers throw a fit when they dont slot in as they should - if you look at the cartridges from all angles there will ne some on the original and not yours and the printer wont recognise them - its just what the manufacturers do to try and make you buy from them -
  24. lol - about CTRL ALT and DEL as mentioned by Ken some of the MS mice use USB and PS2 ports - some poeple connect both but only one is needed - Use the PS2 one and see if its recognised when the system is booted - failing that borrow a PS2 mouse and that should work fine - yours is probably dead as you thought.
  25. Right - regardless of what brand card you have there are 2 companies that make the references they are:- NVIDIA - Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers ATI - Drivers & Software Step one - Remove the OLD driver from add/remove programs. Step two - Manually navigate to C:/ and then depending what brand card you have there will be a folder called NVIDIA, (ATI is in program files then ATI) within that folder there will be one or more folders *see note* DELETE the folders that have numbers i.e. 178.66 (NVIDIA) 8.9 (ATI) Step three - RESTART the machine. Step four - Download the newest driver from the links above, install it and then REBOOT. The new driver is installed and when a new one is released just follow the steps above. *NOTE* some Motherboards have NVIDIA/ATI chipsets these are basically who make the Motherboard and there may be some drivers in the folders listed above DO NOT DELETE these as they are for the Ethernet/sound/USB etc just the GPU ones!
