  12. Hello Lob-fun. I am sorry but I don't think we can assist you with that (for obvious reasons). Using your neighbour's unsecured Wi-Fi without their consent is tantamount to stealing and a legal offense (not to mention ethically wrong). Thread closed. -- Goku

  16. Hello and welcome to FPCH Tigerpilot1. Let's try and see if we can correct the problem on one of the browsers first before proceeding with the other. I am going to try to fix Firefox first because I am more comfortable with it. Please do the following. 1. Open Firefox. 2. Click on the Tools menu and select Options. 3. Switch to the Advanced tab and then click on the Network tab under it. 4. Click on the Settings box under Connection. 5. Check the option that says Use system proxy settings. 6. Close Firefox and re-open it. Please do the above steps and then try connecting to a website. Let us know if it helps or not. Good luck. :) -- Goku

  20. Hello Rik. It might be a problem with a registry value. Please download the attached archive and double-click on the file within it. It will ask you if you want to merge the data of the file with your registry. Answer yes to the prompt and then wait for the confirmation message to pop up. Once that is done, try and shutdown the computer and see if the problem persists. -- Goku FixShutdown.zip
  21. Hello Jaycee! I tried the script myself and got the same error you did. Perhaps that is because the script was written for Windows XP and not for Windows 7. In that case, I am starting to run out of ideas since Windows Explorer doesn't allow to customize it's templates for a specific folde and it's specific subfolders and I am nowhere experienced enough to write a script like that myself. I would like you to give this utility a try since it claims to do a lot of things to the a set of folders like changing their properties at once, rename them, etc. Let us know how it goes. :) -- Goku
  22. No problems Missknowall. We all have been through that at some point and no how stressful it is. Computer problems have a knack of doing that. Hope all gets sorted out soon. :) -- Goku
  23. Use 7-Zip. -- Goku
  24. Hello Jaycee. Here is a script that claims to do exactly what you want to achieve. The instructions for its usage are provided in it too. Hope that helps. :) -- Goku
  25. Hello Missknowall. I am afraid but once you start a diskcheck, there is no way you can stop it unless you manually shutdown/reboot the machine. You could do that but be advised, that it will almost certainly kill your hard drive. Sometimes people get lucky and the hard drive works but that is not always the case. That is some good news. Considering the status of your disk, it might be difficult to recover data off it later. There are plenty of reasons for hardware failure. The most common being cheap parts used in the manufacturing of products. There is not much we can do to safeguard ourselves against it. Again, if you are ABSOLUTELY desperate, you could try a hard restart and hope that the computer still works. However, if you can still wait a while, then try and wait for Neville or Randy or Frank to come on. They are much more competent than me in such matters and should be able to guide you well. Hope that helps. :) -- Goku
