I've got a stored procedure in SQL Server 2005 which allows for nulls to be passed in for some of the parameters.* The logic is written to allow for this, and I certainly want it that want. I am new to using LINQ to SQL, and so I am trying to figure out how to pass a null in for some of the parameters to the strongly typed datacontext class that is created when I drag the SP onto the O/R designer in VS 2008.* For example, what do I use to pass in a null for a SQL Int value, to the method that corresponds to my stored procedure in my strongly typed datacontext class? So basically Vista now is getting about the same reception as XP did when it came out, right?* I'm looking to solidly prove that, and in turn prove that most people who love XP, but hate Vista are sheep, or at the very least are following the regular cycle of things and should get over it.* :P Does anyone have any good articles that bash XP, expecially on the basis of performance, relyability, system requirements, and changes made that people didn't like? I'm using HttpWebRequest and HttpWebResponse to query a remote server. I plan to load the returned xml into an XMLDocument, but the HttpWebRequest.GetResponse() method fails with a 403 "Forbidden" error. I am able to get a response when I put my domain username and password as plain text into the request's Credentials member, but of course I'd like to avoid having that information in the application. I thought that code along these lines (found at http://claytonj.wordpress.com/2006/09/04/run-code-under-the-iis-authenticated-user-context/) would solve my problem: using System.Security.Principal; if (User.GetType() == typeof(WindowsPrincipal)) { WindowsIdentity id = (WindowsIdentity) User.Identity; WindowsImpersonationContext impersonate = id.Impersonate(); //perform tasks under the impersonated user //*** ***// //revert back to local ASPNET account impersonate.Undo(); } else { //user isn’t authenticated } But, I still get the 403 error. I think the impersonation is failing because the WindowsIdentity.ImpersonationLevel property is always "Impersonation." I think this needs to be "Delegation" to reach the remote server (I'm behind a firewall and corporate proxy), but the property is read-only so I can't set it. My Question: What do I need to configure in order to get the ImpersonationLevel property to be of the TokenImpersonationLevel.Delegation type? Let me know if this requires clarification. More... My system is a P4 1.7GHZ, 800MB Ram, Windows XP.* I have two 7200RPM HDDs and just purchased a 320GB external HDD (USB2).* When copying files between internals drives or the external, the overall system performance plummets noticeably.* Device Manager reports the primary/secondary channels using Ultra DMA Mode 5.* Both internal drives are on the same primary channel (device 0 and device 1).* Perhaps this may slow down transfer speeds but wouldnt explain crappy system performance. Is there anything i can do with my "current" system to improve operating system performance during file copying amongst my HDDs. Thank you. More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

I realize thread might get more heated than a Bush/Kerry thread, but I thought I'd ask anyway. I'm being asked by some friends who have an office for their business. It is only the three of them and they're seeking to replace some computers. Two have laptops, one has a desktop. The two have laptops because 'it's cool' and they cn take their work to a local coffeeshop (or home)* and do it. The problem is, their laptops are falling apart after a few years. I'm planning on recommending desktops for them, if only because they tend to last longer (they don't necessarily need the latest/greatest hardware or upgrades). My question is,* how long of a life can people expect (generally) from a laptop vs a desktop? I am ball-parking laptops as two-three years, depending on wear and tear, and desktops being six or seven. Does this sound right? Does anyone have any insights as to why my recommendation might be right or wrong? More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

For example I want to see all of the jobs outstanding in Employee 10's team, no matter to whom they are assigned. How would I do that? More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds
