  3. Hey Niners. I'd appreciate if you took a minute to help determine if this is a Vista Windows Photo Gallery or driver problem that manifests in Windows Photo Gallery. 1. Assuming your desktop resolution is 1280x1024 or higher (please mention), press print screen key while text is visible. 2. open mspaint, paste screenshot of full desktop, save to .png or .bmp (should not matter) 3. Open saved file in Windows Photo Gallery, press the button in the middle to run full screen slideshow, try changing Theme from Fade to Classic which should remove any smoothing filters if it's blurry. Is the text on desktop blurry/stretched?*Some*sites claim that*Windows Experience Index should be 5 or better for*images to show in 1:1/native*resolution but mine is*higher and this*is not the case. It looks as*if WPG internally uses 1024x768 or*other lower resolution*and then*trashes the images by scaling. (Broken on Vista 32 bit*sp1 rtm, 8800(174.74)/1 GB/4 GB) Imagine my disappointment when I took some amazingly beautiful screenshots from a modded Oblivion that actually uses the 1 GB of video memory only to end up Windows Photo Gallery totally trashing all the fine details artists spent time crafting on everything! I would post some here but you couldn't possibly begin to appreciate them until this bug is fixed. :D More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

  5. I ride a bus into work, which gives me a chance of listening to podcasts on my second generation 80GB Zune.* I was listening this morning when suddenly the sound stopped.* I thought at first it might be the Zune freezing up, but it wasn't.* I could see the time advancing, so that wasn't it.* So then I tried listening to some music albums I've got on my Zune, and the same thing was happening; no sound at all, although the time was advancing.* The Zune is more than 50% charged, so I don't believe that is the problem.* And the weirdest thing is I've tried listening to any radio station I could, and I could listen to those. It is acting like I've hit a mute button somewhere, but I've no idea where that would be on the Zune.* If there is some sort of mute functionality built into the 2nd generation 80GB Zune, where is it and how do I turn it off and on? But if that isn't the problem, then what is going on?? More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

  14. Anyone here had both? recently I accepted a new position and I had to give back my iPhone. Its been two weeks but the shakes have finally gone away. Now I am extremely unhappy with my Verizon Chocolate, esp since I now use my cell for work. I'd rather be able to get a Verizon phone but frankly it doesn't seem like they have anything close to as awesome as iPhone. Is anyone really happy with a phone with Windows mobile? Has anyone had both? Thinking about just cancelling my verizon contract and going with AT&T :( More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

  16. Meet group program manager, Mai-lan Tomsen Bukovec, who has been at Microsoft for nine years (Talk about a blast from the past . . . remember Microsoft Transaction Server? Mai-lan was on that team back in the day.). Mai-lan is currently on the Internet Information Services (IIS) team where she manages PMs working on IIS and the Windows Server Hosting System. What does that mean? Well, for starters, she and her team define the features of the core web server, as well as the management tools and administration interfaces plus they work on media server and providing the right tools for the web hosters of the world (like GoDaddy, for example). Phew! That’s a lot. From the Peace Corps to working at a couple of start-ups during the Internet boom when she left Microsoft for a bit, Mai-lan really has a worldwide global perspective. 23. In this interview, Greg Galipeau of RDA discusses three different patterns -- MVC, MVP and ASP.NET MVC with Dr. Zhiming Xue “Z”, Microsoft Architect Evangelist. Greg articulates the advantages and disadvantages inherent in each pattern, and explains when to use one versus another when creating Windows forms applications and web applications. In his view: - MVP may be considered when you want more extensive testing, i.e. testing everything on the view. It is harder to set up, but gives you a little more on the testing side. It is very useful when creating an application for both the web side and the win form side. - MVC may be a good candidate when testing is important but you feel comfortable testing right from the controller. It is also very useful for the win form side of things. - ASP.NET MVC may be used when MVC is an option and you are doing strictly web development. This option is very useful because of its Front Controller type of pattern, which lets you implement a RESTful style paradigm. This option is also very useful because it doesn’t use postbacks or viewstate, which some people will like because it gets back to the traditional HTTP way that web pages were intended to be. In short, MVC and MVP are just UI patterns, with ASP.NET MVC being a framework that implements the MVC pattern. Therefore, you can incorporate them with different data access or business layer patterns or frameworks of your choice, such as SOA and ADO.Net Data Service. You can find Greg's view on the subject of “Choosing UI Pattern” at his blog. More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds
