  3. I have VS 2008 Express (that is, VB and WD) installed and I want to try to create a website with Visual Web Developer. It creates sites in ASP 3.5 but my hosting account only works with 1.0/2.0 sites. Is there a way to make VWD 2008 Express create the site in ASP 2.0. (disclaimer: if it sounds like I don't exactly know what I'm talking about, that's because that's mostly true) More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds
  4. Hello All. Is there any way that I can specify than an event handler MUST run on the UI thread? For example, can I have a long running process on a secondary thread*that fires events periodically, and have an event handler that will update the UI with the status of the secondary thread? I realise that within the event handler, I could call an invoke, but was wondering if there was a simpler solution to this one? More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds
  5. In that, when I have WDS installed I get frequent Blue screens, and when I don't I get fewer blue screens. The root cause*seems to be*either an encrypted file system called Pointsec, or the fact this Dell Laptop they gave me at work is a pile of pants. http://dorothyho.com/wp-images/pants.gif (This image represents a dell Latitude D620) Anyway, it would appear that WDS pushes my laptop over the edge of unreliability, and I was wondering whether anyone else had experienced software pushing their system a tad too far. This is irritating because it means I can't use WDS on this machine, and have to find things... shock horror... by hand. (metaphorically) More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

  13. Hi, ***Just starting to look at the Validation Block for the Enterprise Library to add to our system and I just want to quickly find out if the validation block integrates nicely with the error provider mechanism in*.NET 2.0 Data Binding.* I like the ability in .Net 2.0 Data Bining to add the IErrorDataInfo interface to our business objects so that they get 'auto-validated' on the UI when used with a bindin source and an errorProvider, and I want to be able to hook this up to the validation attributes provided by the EntLib Validation Block. Has anybody done this or seen any reference to it?* I'm googling away but finding nothing. Herbie More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

  15. Doing some background reading on a news story about IE8 enabling DEP by default in Vista SP1/2008*(http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2008/04/08/ie8-security-part-I_3A00_-dep-nx-memory-protection.aspx) I stumbled upon very interesting blog that discusses so many issues with the current technology processor and platform wise that I don't want to attempt summarizing it too much. If you're passionate about future of platforms such as*Singulary, security and their performance and compat with current code this should make some interesting reading: http://www.emulators.com/docs/nx01_intro.htm The actual technical deep stuff starts in part 3 & 4: http://www.emulators.com/docs/nx03_10fixes.htm The vision I got out of reading this is that in future (Windows "9"?) we might*be running Singulary-like OS on top of the hardware and by integrating the emulation of current native x86/64 code on the platform the performance would actually be very similar to what it now is without emulation, with the added benefit of*better security to legacy code.
