  4. Does anyone know if it is possible to upconvert dvd's on the 360? I am talking about normal DVD's, not HD-DVD. I thought I had checked before and my DVD's were being upconverted to 1080i, but either I was hullicinating then or it* has since stopped upconverting my movies. Anyone know what the story is with the 360 and upconverting playback of standard DVD's? http://www.myveryownwebsite.com/mypics/101_0232.jpg More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds
  5. My mother is an NHS physio and has been for more than 30 years now, so she's seen a fair bit: the penny-pinching of the Conservative era in the 80s, the naive enthusiasm in the 90s, and the "Management Consultant"-days of the present. As a means of dealing with the frustrations on having to deal with paperwork measured in feet, PHBs (well, in her case: Peroxide-Blonde bosses), and unappreciative patients she talks things over in great detail to my dad. Fair 'nuff, it works for her, but I feel the stories she comes up with deserve to be heard: like how the "targets"-related paperwork she has to fill in takes up time she could be using to treat patients, or how the PCT makes no arrangements for physios having to transport patient's equipment around (which can be much bigger than fits in a Toyota Yaris). So I suggested to her that she gets a blog. Considering she can barely use Hotmail I proposed she just tells me everything and I'd post it. Obviously making suitable arrangements to anonymise things (FWIW, she has some high-profile patients... who I can't name), and stuff like this would be pretty popular I can imagine. So after posting her stuff onto Blogspot, how could I get it noticed and hopefully trigger a mass firing of Management Consultants at the NHS? More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

  9. I was listening to 93.9 here in Chicago and there was a commercial for MSN Money.* It was in the form of rap song, and was pretty funny.* I can't say that I have heard anyone do a rap song about investing and using a website for tracking your investments.* I know there have been discussions on here about Microsoft needing to use different methods for advertising its products, and I would say this is one of the most unique methods that I have seen/heard from them. I can't find it on the internet to share with you guys, but I am interested to see if anyone else has heard this yet. More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

  11. Originally developed as a means of quickly conveying the state of a community around a blog, I reckon we could use it for forums. The Airbag Blog Advisory System, a thinly veiled take on the Homeland Security Advisory System, it sums up how much of a prat the general populace is. Can we have a variation of this on C9? Maybe MS should sponsor it Internet-wide and make it a part of phpBB and vBulletin so newbies know what forums are good and not, etc. (but it's 12 days too late to make it this year's April 1st RFC) More... 14. Can anybody recommend a good working WPF Split Button? Disclaimer: - Obviously we checked Google ourselves... please do not return respond with any of the first 20 search results :-). - We are looking for a clean and clever solution, not one which adds 1.200 lines of XAML to WPF projects... :-). - Commercial alternatives are welcome, too. 15. I don't understand why the .Net toolsbars in Vista look so spartan compared to the pretty Aero ones.* The toolbars in .Net on XP at least have some gradients. Also, why can't I make that pretty sort arrow at the top of a column of a ListView?* Appending "(A-Z)" or "(Z-A)" to the column title makes programs seem dated.* I know that I could instead use a picture of arrows pointing up and down, but even that doesn't look right, since the arrow would be beside the column title instead of at the top. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3161/2406970044_1191c1a9a2.jpg OK, I'm not just complaining.* Is there a way to fix these two issues??
