  8. So today I was tasked to set up a SFTP server on our Windows 2003 App Server.* "No problem", I thought, "I'll just go plug in an SSL certificate". No such luck; it appears IIS doesn't support SecureFTP? So can anyone recommend a good (Preferrably free) SFTP server for Windows?* I've already tried EnterpriseDT CompleteFTP and it refused to populate a UI when I tried to open it. More... 10. thanks to tom's hardware for proving what I have been saying for ages and that nobody believed with a good amount of benchmarks: on modern PCs better ram speed makes almost no difference. I hope that now people will stop wasting hundred dollars on way too expensive fast ram: more ram, a better CPU and a faster HDD are far more worthy upgrades :s More... Its my first time doing something like this, wanted to give my boss/pm a look at my design/implementation/backup plans with diagrams. 14. Does anyone know of a way to make a static variable static to the thread from which it's set AND any child threads of that thread? In other words I want the same thing that you get from the ThreadStaticAttribute, but the value of the variable should also be accessible from any thread that's spawned from the thread that set the value. 15. So, the multilanguage version of Vista SP1 came out yesterday... I just had Windows Update install it, which went surprisingly fast. Suspiciously fast, even, so I went to System Info to check, but it doesn't state specifically that SP1 is installed. Does that simply not happen anymore for Vista? (I remember XP specifically mentioning which version of XP was installed) Is there some other way to check? Build numbers? Winver doesn't mention SP1 either. More... I have a method that checks whether a member variable of that class is valid or not (using the string IsNullOrEmpty method) and if it is null or empty throw an exceptuion with a sensible message describing the problem. However I don't know what type of exception to throw (it's not an argument so can't use the ArgumentNullExeption and FxCop is telling me not to use the Exception type), anyone got any ideas?
