Are you going to wait until v2 of Silverlight before using it commercially? Got on the train this morning and decided to finally watch a video my brother-in-law got me for Christmas. Unwrapped the DVD from its packaging, and put it in the rom tray of my laptop. Then I get a message from WMP: Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card. WTF kind of BS is this crap? I need a driver update? How is this possible when my drivers are newer than the video? The whole idea of needing updated video driver to watch a movie I own is irritating. I've been*developing software*for years and for most applications I feel satisfied with the result (or not) but nothing more. But sometimes there are applications I work on where I feel more than just satisfaction. They're like my babies, written with love, and when they're ready for production use (or even in alpha/beta-stage) I love using them, and I sometimes try to find reasons to use them, to look at their UI. I just released a new version of our automation platform, deployed it on my work PC and on 2 of our servers. And now I'm looking for things to automate, just to see how my baby will react and how well it will do its job. Am I crazy or do other software developers have similar feelings about their creations? How do you manage your time? What I do right now is that I just use Windows Calendar and a *.txt file for whatever needs to be done at the moment, although I'm looking for a good solution to that. (Probably stickies, but so far I haven't found the best app for it, and the built-in application and gadget doesn't cut it for me; I personally do not use Sidebar. =/ ) More...
