Oh dear ... Ballmer says that Vista is a work in progress Yet another severe case of 'foot in mouth', and it doesn't get much better unfortunately. Although many of his comments are a cause for concern (serious concern), Vista being a work in progress wasn't one of them. Dunno about you, but I haven't come across an operating system that WASN'T a work in progress; that's why we have updates. More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

I am a total bozo when it comes to this stuff (actually, most stuff, but that’s beside the point) and can’t figure out how to get a streaming video to work on my free Live streaming service. I have a standard .wmv video my customer supplied, and I imported it into Expressions Encoder (V1), using Source input and Silverlight output templates... clicked on encode, and then uploaded the output file to the service... which then, after much thinking about it, decided that it could not “process” the file. Anyone know of a simple guide for Silverlight morons, that I can follow ? as I can’t work out what I am doing wrong. More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

Looks like a great day for Google (GOOG). The stock shot up to highs of 21% today after Google shocked the investment community who where expecting poor performance this quarter from the search giant. Meanwhile Microsoft (MSFT) is yet to recover from the sharp decline* in the stock market after said software giant announced plans to buy rival Yahoo! Corporation. More... Yep, Microsoft's home-entertainment ambitions don't stop at Microsoft TV, MSNTV, WebTV, Media Center, nor Mediaroom: Presenting: a TV program revolving around Microsoft (and other) commercial products. Suddenly I don't feel so bad about torrenting so many TV shows without watching the adverts. This is pure televised malevolence. Who in their right minds would watch this? ...then again, people watch Pop/American Idol and WWE. I can only conclude that whatever shred of culture North America had has been incinerated in the most undignified manner possible. //Idiocracy, anyone? More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

Hi, I have Windows Vista Ultimate and Visual Studio 2008 installed. I am just trying to get my head around all of the .NET Framework installations I see in my Add/Remove Control Panel. Here is what I have: MIcrosoft .NET 1.1 Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 VIsual Studio 2008 (note: in installed this months *after* I installed the .NET 3.5 Framework) Where is .Net 2.0, 3.0? Where are the SDKs (the ones listed above are just the runtime distributables)? Didn't an SDK get installed when I installed Visual Studio 2008? There just seems gaps in my list of installed programs. Or is my list perfectly congruent with what would be expected? Thanks. More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

I am currently working on a client's website that uses fonts embedded with WEFT. I ran the index page through browsercam.com to see how it would look on a variety of platforms/browsers, and I was very surprised that the embedded font did not display. It looked fine on different platforms using IE7 and earlier versions, so I know the problem was with IE8, and not the .EOT file or the CSS. Does anyone know if Microsoft plans to include support for WEFT with IE8? If not, that would be unfortunate. I really like the WEFT tool.Thanks. More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds
