  3. Hi, I am writing a custom membership provider using C# in .Net and I have been trying to catch exceptions raised by my custom membership provider class in my aspx page. I have already written a custom membership class, which throws an exception. I am throwing the same exception in the catch block of the custom class thinking that it would be caught by the .aspx page. Since I am using login control, shipped with VS 2005, for authentication, I would like to understand how these exceptions can be caught with in the .aspx page. Specifically, I would like to know which process invokes ValidateUser method of my custom class. This custom class is an implementation of an abstract class named "Membership" class. I don't remember the exact name of the abstract class as the source code is not accessible to me at this point in time. To add to the info above, I have the custom membership provider in a separate project which is ofcourse part of the same solution as my web app where I am trying to catch the exceptions. If possible, please revert back at the earliest. If there's any clarification reqd abt this scenario, please do let me know. Thanks, --Sunny More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

  10. Hi everyone, Apologies if this is off-topic.. I am writing an XSLT where I want to pass an XPath statement in as a parameter.* Like so: Note the single quotes around the XPath - the param is a string literal, not a node set. I then want to go: But ASP.Net doesn't like this at all, in fact my web server crashes as soon as it attempts the transform. XMLSpy doesn't like it either. It works fine when I declare the param like this: Can anyone tell me if there's a way to get it to do what I want, or a workaround? As background, I'm doing this because I need to calculate the XPath on the fly based on the current URL. It's basically a kind of URL rewriter - I'll convert /mypages/mypage.htm to /pagegroup[@title=mypages]/page[@title=mypage] More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

  16. I've just started experimenting with Linq to SQL and so far I'm very impressed. But ... (there's always a 'but') ... the convention where I work is to use the 'WITH (NOLOCK)' hint on all select statements and the SQL generated by Linq to SQL doesn't do this. Is there a way to get the Linq to SQL generation code to use the NOLOCK hint in the SQL statements?* I haven't been able to find any details on whether it is possible to 'interfere' with the SQL generation at all.
