  3. I am a beg/int windows developer and have to what is to most of you a simple question but one I have not found an answer too.* I have noticed that since Vista shipped, applications that Microsoft releases really don't have the old XP "Style" to them anymore.* They don't look like Vista completely either and I know why. For example WMP11, Live Messenger, and most of the rest of the Live suite have a hybrid of a look of something that isn't XP and not quite Aero Basic (non Glass). I have the RTM of VS2008 Pro and want to make similar applications for XP.* Can this be done?* I have tried with Windows Form Application but it looks like the Luna theme in XP and Aero in Vista.* I have watched these (the ones I*want to mimic)*applications startup and to me, at least with WMP11, that it runs inside the client window area and for a brief moment it has the XP menu and title bar above it until they disappear. Any ideas would be great, but I am almost sure this is something that is proprietary to Microsoft and or someone at MS has built a Aero'esc custom interface.* But hoping it is possibly a setting in the new VS2008 that will do this.* Thanks for any help. 6. Microsoft states that Mixed Mode authentication exists purely for Legacy compatibility purposes. That's great and all, but when using Windows Authentication how are you supposed to connect over the Internet using Management Studio when your client machine isn't in the SQL Server's AD Domain (so you can't use Runas)? 12. Because there are two sides to every story ..... http://ms-os.com/Themes/AlmostGlass/images/icon-quote.gif SoftPedia wrote: 2007 proved less favorable for MacOS X and Linux. Although the two rival operating systems also deliveredpositive results, with a consistent growth in the background, neitherproved a Vista killer, let alone a Windowskiller. At the debut of January 2008, Mac OS X owned 7.31% of themarket, with Linux at just 0.63%. But, with over 100 million copiesshipping in a single year since its introduction, Vista has left itscompetitors in the dust. In this context, the uptake of Vista this past year indicates thatdespite the mixed reviews associated with the platform, the vastmajority of XP users are still choosing a Windows iteration rather than switching to Mac OS X or Linux.
