Maybe I'm too blind to see but how do I buy a subscription for OneCare? I just installed the 90 day trial on my Vista system and clicked the "Subscribe" button. After asking me for my Windows Live account details - which I correctly enter - it always takes me to this URL: http://get.live.com/onecare/client?wa=wsignin1.0 I cannot see any link there which would allow me to purchase a OneCare subscription for my PC. Any hints or alternative URLs? More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

I've got a simple link formatted correctly: About but whenever I run it on the web it shows up in the mini destination preview as http://www.lloydhumphreys.com/www.lloydhumphreys.com/content/about.html which is non existent in the source. The page is here so feel free to inspect it yourself.. it's a little hacked together from a GooglePages template, excuse my noob-ness but I liked it :) I've got a similar problem on another page also. Thanks in advance all! More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

A lot of this guys rant doesn't read too well - not being a big fan of foul language - although I got his point, but one thing I noticed that sort of stood out below.. http://ms-os.com/Themes/AlmostGlass/images/icon-quote.gif The article wrote: I believe, if I could point at one thing it’s the following statement on 2007-01-20 to me by David H. creator of Rails: (15:11:12) DHH: before fastthread we had ~400 restarts/day(15:11:22) DHH: now we have perhaps 10(15:11:29) Zed S.: oh nice(15:11:33) Zed S.: and that's still fastcgi right? Notice how it took me a few seconds to reply. This one single statement basically means that we all got duped. The main Rails application that*DHH*created required restarting ~400 times/day. That’s a production application that can’t stay up for more than 4 minutes on average. Every 4 minutes? WTF?!?! I know people complain that Rails can't scale, but that is pretty painful. *Mind you, at least now they only have to restart 10 times a day. More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

Anybody looked into Retlang? http://code.google.com/p/retlang/ "Retlang is a robust library for writing highly concurrent applications. The library borrows part of its name and design from Erlang. With Retlang, application components exchange messages asynchronously rather than using low level locking and blocking api's. Messages are delivered sequentially to prevent thread races or object synchronization. " Sounds very cool... More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

I'm upgrading a P4 machine to run vista and am running around in circles. The 'box' has onboard graphics, but I have installed a Radeon 9800 Pro graphics*card. The driver from here is for all ATI graphics cards. Basically one driver fits all. As soon as I start the machine vista automatically goes to install the driver for the card, in device manager the error message is Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) I then uninstall the driver Vista installed and install the ati catalyst one with the control centre and everything. After re-booting I get the message no ati graphics driver is installed, or the ATI driver is not functioning properly. Vista automatically keeps installing it's own Radeon 9800 Pro driver in device manager. Is there a default location I should install the ATI driver to so Vista can pick it up? More... Your friend and mine who once thought the name Lincrosoft something that not get himself into trouble with MS legal, had no problem doing a wholesale rip off of MySpace (including it's logo) and threatened to sue countless 9ers for slander and copyright infringement has struck again... his latest project... codiplex.com which is currently only parked: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2268/2153203231_b4a0cdb48e.jpg Despite being announced on his sites 'plog' last week: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2020/2153203257_7069053ec7_o.png I can't place it... but that name sounds... familiar. A unique monitoring system and method is provided that involves monitoring user activity in order to facilitate managing and optimizing the utilization of various system resources. In particular, the system can monitor user activity, detect when users need assistance with their specific activities, and identify at least one other user that can assist them. Assistance can be in the form of answering questions, providing guidance to the user as the user completes the activity, or completing the activity such as in the case of taking on an assigned activity. In addition, the system can aggregate activity data across users and/or devices. As a result, problems with activity templates or activities themselves can be more readily identified, user performance can be readily compared, and users can communicate and exchange information regarding similar activity experiences. Furthermore, synchronicity and time-sensitive scheduling of activities between users can be facilitated and improved overall. ...one or more physiological or environmental sensors to detect atleast one of heart rate, galvanic skin response, EMG, brain signals, respiration rate, body temperature, movement, facial movements, facialexpressions, and blood pressure. http://techdirt.com/articles/20071228/021905.shtml Copy of the Patent on File More... We're using Sql Server 2K5. I have a table containing dates for an events table.* The dates table contains one or more dates for a single event.* What is the query on the dates table that returns only 1 date (the earliest date) for each event. So the the dates table looks like this: id* event_id* date 1** 37********** 2007/02/01 2** 37********** 2007/01/01 3** 38********** 2006/01/01 4** 39********** 2007/04/01 5** 39********** 2006/01/01 I looking for a dates table resultset of: id* event_id* date 1** 37********** 2007/01/01 3** 38********** 2006/01/01 5** 39********** 2006/01/01 Notice there is only* one entry for each event_id and this date represents the earliest time for the event. Suppose you've got an SSL certificate for "foo.com" and you've got an IIS website which serves requests for both "www.foo.com" and "foo.com" Now any request for "https://www.foo.com" would give errors since the cert was issued to foo.com and not http://www.foo.com. What's the best way around this besides ordering a Wildcard SSL certificate? Is there any way to get IIS to automatically redirect all requests to http://www.foo.com to foo.com or something? Or if I've got 2 certificates, one for "www.foo.com" and one for "foo.com" is there any way to make them work together for the same website? More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds
