  1. I run pc's with multiple monitors (up to 8) that I control remotely.* Currently using a 3rd party remote desktop app to access the remote multi-monitor PC and control the output.* I like MS RDC much better though it kills the multiple monitors when I log in to the remote pc. I do not need to view the additional monitors locally as they end up video feeds on the remote end but they just need to still exist rather than the remote pc re-configuring to a single monitor.* Is this behavior inate in MS RDC?* The third party app works but has issues with new WPF app menus and combo boxes for whatever reason that the MS RDC does not. Any ideas? Thanks much- Brian More... View All Our Microsft Related Feeds

  3. I have two computers connected to a router on my home network. One is a wired Windows XP Home SP2 tower with Messenger 8.1, and the other is Windows Vista Home Premium notebook with 8.5.* One of my friends has sent me several JPG images as well as a ZIP through MSN (JPGs on my laptop, the ZIP on my fam's computer) The JPGs appear corrupted (even though they DO open fine) and only one file from the ZIP could be extracted, all the rest fail. AVG on family computer, Avira on the laptop. He supposes that it's a problem with my connection, because nobody else that he sent some of that stuff to told him of anything screwy with the files. This only started happening within the last week.* What could be causing this? More... View All Our Microsft Related Feeds

  5. (reposting from here) Today after upgrading my Toshiba Satellite a100 wa-3's 1GB of memory to 2 GB (from one of my dad's friends,) The second tiume I booted it up, I plugged my laptop in and ran the experience assesment, and after a while I got a STOP error with something like "memory_controller" or something like that.,* After I restarted, I booted up in Safe mode, and not too long after I looged in and the help window came up, blue screen.* The Second time, I checked the Event Viewer, and after a while of going through all of the error (which I assume arew from Safe Mode, because it disables alot of the drivers) and then quickly scrolliung through the list, I get ANOTHER stop error, this time saying "multiple_irp_complete_requests" I am running Windows Vista Home Premium. I never got STOP errors until just tonight. What is going on here, and what can I do to fix it? Or is it a "normal" process, and Vista will smooth itself out? More... 12. I was going to post this in the what did you get for Xmas thread, but It got a bit long winded: I got a Zune 80 The device is great, but I miss the ability (from my Creative Zen Extra Super Turbo Edition Alpha) to manipulate the now playing list on the fly. The Zune has a QuickList feature that is close enough, but you have to plan ahead and put what you want to play first on it. Then you have to go over to Playlists to actually play it. After that, you can tack on more tracks and albums as you go. * Even then, there seems to be no indication of which track in the list is currently playing. You have to go to the now playing screen, remember the track, then go to the playlist screen and find that track in the list. It would be nice if the current track in a playlist was highlighted. I turned off the touch sensitive "swipe" feature (too many accidental double moves from swiping and pressing at the same time), but the buttons will still wake up the device when touched (not pressed), So I have to use the button lock switch. The software is pretty and functional enough for browsing the Marketplace and syncing with the device. But it's not that great of a player. There's no miniplayer toolbar of any type. It took a while to find the now playing list. I'll have to fiddle with it more, but I'm kinda dissapointed there as I was hoping to cancel my Rhapsody subscription and use the Zune Pass for listening to subscription music on my PC. It is nice to have a working subscription music "to go" though. There seems to be a dearth of satisfactory cases for the Zune 80 right now, but it looks like some new ones are coming in the next several weeks, so I'm making do with a neoprene pouch I had lying around. I got the dock for my PC, so I could use the included cable with the AC adapter from the dock kit as a secondary charging cable. More... View All Our Microsft Related Feeds

  18. After a dreadful holiday experience with an online merchant, I have concluded that it would be nice if IE had some sort of Merchant Filter. Something like the Phishing Filter. It could check the BBB website for the merchant you were shopping, and alert you if it had an unsatisfactory standing. If others habits are similar to mine, we only seem to check the BBB standings after the fact, when it's too late. More... View All Our Microsft Related Feeds

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, police found a shoe and blood in an area between the gate and the edge of the animal's 25- to 30-foot-wide moat, raising the possibility that one of the victims dangled a leg or other body part over the edge of the moat. I dunno, maybe I am being a bit cold-hearted; but I feel that if you go to the Zoo and taunt the animals, and end up getting mauled.... It's your own damn fault. More...
