I'm looking for something uber-cheap that will grab media off my asus wl700gE's built in HDD, and play it on my television. I could Google, but I'm not exactly sure what these devices are actually called! I just want something simple, that will go into my \User\Videos and \User\Music folder and grab anything I tell it to and stream it to my television. I've had my eye on stuff like this: http://www.inoi.com/English/hv355.asp but they're still pretty expensive and I'm just after something to stream; not store. TIA More... I caught up with Senior Vice President Eric Rudder while in Denmark recently. We were both there for the Microsoft Development Center Copenhagen's TechFest 2007. Several ISVs come to MDCC campus to show off their innovations. You will see several of these technologies, and meet the people behind them, on Channel 9 over the coming days. It's been a while since Eric has been on C9, so I wanted to see what's new in his world. What is he working on these days? We also talk about TechFest and, of course, Channel 9. Eric is a big fan. This is a quick conversation. You will see more Eric on Channel 9 in the future when he is able to talk more specifically about what he and his team are developing. if I have a list, lets say of months, or years or weeks... What is the best way to validate that the list is sequential? Example, lets assume a list contains month numbers. 10 9 8 5 4 3 I can ignore 12 and 11 since*10 is the top most value, and I can ignore 2 and 1 since 3 is the bottom most value. but I want to insert the missing between values of 7 and 6, because there a values above and below it. I have a way of accomplishing this, by looping a few times through the list, but it doesn't seem very intuitive or efficient. any thoughts? More... View All Our Microsft Related Feeds

http://www.engadget.com/2007/12/06/ibm-creates-a-chip-sized-supercomputer/ IBM've created a chip which transfers data via light, not electricity. No more overheating either... http://ms-os.com/Themes/AlmostGlass/images/icon-quote.gif engadget wrote:Those super-geniuses over at IBMhave whipped up a new form of CPU transfer which utilizes pulses oflight instead of electricity to move data between cores on a chip. Thenew technology -- which is one-hundred times faster than current speeds-- is called silicon nanophotonics, and if implemented, could downsizesupercomputers to laptop stature. The invention is unhindered by commonproblems with electrical chips, such as overheating and breakdown ofdata on short trips, allowing signals to pass unmolested over greaterdistances. Using this process, data can be moved a few centimeters, while requiring one-tenth as much power, resulting in lower operationalcosts for supercomputers. Will Green, a researcher at IBM, says thatthe company's creation will, "Be able to have hundreds or thousands ofcores on a chip," and will result in huge speed boosts. Unfortunately, the project is on track to be carried out in 10 to 12 years... More... View All Our Microsft Related Feeds

A preview version of exclusive Yahoo Messenger for Windows Vista is finally available today after almost 12 months of radio silence. Hard to believe this application was announced all the way back in January at CES 2007. During the same amount of time, Microsoft has delivered five versions (3 beta, 2 final) of Windows Live Messenger. from I Started Something I always hated instant messengering however I must admit that the UI is impressive! Blog Council Note that the Blog Council was launched last week with an old*media Press*release and no RSS feed.... The Blog Council exists as a forum for executives to meet one another in a private, vendor-free environment and share tactics, offer advice based on past experience, and develop standards-based best practices as a model for other corporate blogs. Every major corporation is struggling with the question of how to use blogs and engage the blogosphere the right way, - Sean O'Driscoll, GM, Community Support Services, Microsoft. It's simple Sean, the web is an*interactive medium and blogs are*an easy way to publish and converse with people. Does anyone work on Lean Manufacturing Software? I'm just curious because all the previous implementations I've seen have been an Excel spaghetti and I'm interested in seeing what else is out there for a friend who works on it. I could google, but I'd be interested in a Niner's honest opinion on it. More... View All Our Microsft Related Feeds

One of our clients installed .NET 2.0 SP1 this week and suddenly our .NET 2.0 application (which has been running fine for 2 years now) started producing errors. Luckily, we found the problem pretty fast and were able to solve it and release a new version. Has this happened to other Niners? Is there a list somewhere with the breaking changes in SP1? More... Hi, I am having a strange problem with mail forwarded from another account to Hotmail and I was wondering if anyone here ever experienced anything similar or how you would troubleshoot it. My colleague set up a forward on his Linux server so that all emails directed to giovanni@mycomanyname.com are forwarded to my hotmail account. Lately only a few emails have made it to my hotmail account (only those I do send myself or from my colleague’s yahoo account, none from other senders). I disabled all junk mail filters, but I am not sure this is a hotmail issue. Has anyone ever experienced something like this? Thank you. More... View All Our Microsft Related Feeds
