Hi all, so... I have an automated build process in place with MSBuild and CCNet. I want to add WiX to this to output the build to MSI's. The problem I am having is the order of execution with all these .proj files, wix files and such. I don't know to call what from where. Currently I have a .proj file that builds all of the .net projects and solutions. Where in this process do the wix files go, I don't mean the*physical path. Obviously the build would have to complete first, then call the wix files to package it all, so is this call a task in MSbuild and if so how do I write that out and where do I put it? More... It's not called 'geekSpeak' for nothing!* This week's show is pretty darn geeky, with guest expert Chris Love diving into the details of ASP.NET httpHandler and httpModule implementations. Listen in to hear best practices for the implementation of these features.* Here's bio information for Chris. Chris Love has over 14 years of experience in software design, development and architecture. He has been the principal developer for over 250 small and medium ASP and ASP.NET web sites over the past 7 years. Chris has been active in a leadership role in the Raleigh, NC, area user group TRINUG for over 5 years. He frequently presents and organizes Code Camps around the country. ups! :| http://ms-os.com/Themes/AlmostGlass/images/icon-quote.gif neowin wrote: Microsoft has killed Santa Claus today, after an unsatisfactory attempt to restrain the North Pole-based jolly old elf from instant messaging children about oral sex. Although Redmond has been challenged by compassion in the past, this appears to be the first time on record it has out-and-out killed the very manifestation of goodwill. Father Christmas was subject to some controversy this year when given the seasonal ID northpole@live.com on MSN messenger. While mostly sticking to an approved and traditional regimen of asking children what they want for Christmas, the mere mention of pizza would send him into a provocative froth about love-making of the mouth. Microsoft informed us about their troubling decision to destroy the spirit of Christmas this morning. That's why he didn't answer anymore [C] I want my santa back on messenger *snif* More... this thread provoked my question: also, i apologize if this is nothing but a demonstration of my newbie-ness in SQL... am i the only one that thinks a series of INSERT statements to submit many rows of data is a little insane? say i want to add 100 new authors to a table; i'd much rather call some sort of stored procedure to do this all in one fell swoop then to make 100 round trips to the DB. that's where CLR Stored Procs come in.* i've never tried them, but from what i know this will allow me to just pass a List to the database to preform all the inserts right on the server, correct? You've seen a few conversations on Channel 9 about Microsoft's Entity Framework. It's a rather impressive technology, though it's not very well understood. Well, this true for Brian Beckman (it's true that*Brian doesn't know everything!) and so he wanted to sit down and have a chat with Sam Druker, who runs the Data Platforms group (and also happens to be Brian's grandboss and former programming colleague - Sam's a very technically-inclined executive...). This is interview is really great for two reasons. The first reason is that, well, it's a great (and deep, including whiteboarding) conversation between experts that spans many technologies related to SQL and the Entity Framework. The second reason is that this is the first in a series of interviews on Channel 9 that involve experts in one domain (or many domains, like Brian) who interview other experts in another domain that is not well understood by the interviewer. Yours truly, Charles,*takes part in the conversation of course, but I'm mainly a camera guy who throws in a good*random*question once and a while, but Brian drives this interview. Like you, I'm in the audience and learning from people who truly understand the deepest levels of a given platform technology. Again, Brian Beckman conducts this interview and I think this is*a trend you are going to really enjoy. Thank you, Brian! You'll see more of this class of interview in the future on Channel 9. Learn. Enjoy. Listen to the podcast(MP3) Listen to the podcast(WMA) Download the Video Watch the Video More... View All Our Microsft Related Feeds

I just found this and thought it was kind of nifty. Basically, it ranks your surname popularity and also displays a map of how many people with your surname reside in each state. My Last Name Ranking is: instances in our database: 2,232 LastName Ranking: 4,012 of 6,811,141 - So I guess that isn't overly common. http://names.whitepages.com/ More... Synchronization for the Web The creation of FeedSync was catalyzed by the observation that RSS and Atom feeds were exploding on the web, and that by harnessing their inherent simplicity we might enable the creation of a “decentralized data bus” among the world’s web sites. Just like RSS and Atom, FeedSync feeds can be synchronized to any device or platform. Previously known as Simple Sharing Extensions, FeedSync was originally designed by Ray Ozzie in 2005 and has been developed by Microsoft with input from the Web community. The initial specification, </strong>FeedSync for Atom and RSS, describes how to synchronize data through Atom and RSS feeds. More... View All Our Microsft Related Feeds
