  1. Start > type in ....devmgmt.msc .....ENTER Click the + next to the devices ( start at the top ) Make a note of the device for any yellow exclamation marks that show > right click on the offending device > Disable Do this for all entries. ( disable only yellow exclamation marks ) If there are any yellow exclamation marks .....after you disable them ......re-boot the machine in Normal mode. 1. Let me know if any yellow exclamation marks ( specific device ) 2. Let me know if the system is stable in Normal mode. ============== Check back regularly ..........I will stay on-line even though you can't see me showing a green on-line button :)
  2. I am quite happy to continue - if you are ? You can boot up in Safe Mode and it is stable - no errors - no restarts - no crashes ? Please confirm. If this is the case it could either be a service or more likely a driver conflict. Please confirm and we can take it from here. Also confirm that it is Win 7 that you have. ============== Please post the latest Mini-dump file.
  3. Your m/board has a PS2 option for the keyboard. Do you have a PS2 keyboard to try ? Or if you are using PS2 - try a USB keyboard. I would like to check the Boot Order in the BIOS. ============== Your m/board has an 8 pin ATX connection ( corner of the board ) Do you have this connected ? ============== Did your m/board come with the CPU installed or did you fit it ? If you fitted it - is the heatsink seated properly on a thin layer of thermal paste? ============== Do you have a spare PSU to try ? It doesn't matter if the Wattage is different.
  4. I wanted to try the system with no printer drivers installed to see if they were causing the problem. Sorry I don't know what I was thinking before - Printers don't show in Device Manager  Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features It should be listed there. Click on it to remove. Try the system with this driver removed.
  5. Just confirm please: With RAM / NIC / SOUND cards ....... plus Hard Drive / DVD Drive disconnected Mouse and Keyboard and all external hardware disconnected. and with only the 24 way connection attached ( plus the moniter ) you get 3 short beeps ( this is correct as there is no RAM ) Is this correct ? You get nothing on the monitor after the initial splash screen. Is this also correct when everything is removed from the m/board as described above ?
  6. Hi, Thanks for that information. I was thinking of trying a different channel on the router.
  7. Download Revo Uninstaller from here: click here Scroll down a little - you want the free version. Install and run it. Locate the Canon Drivers (if they show) and uninstall using the default options. Failing that un-install the Canon drivers from device manager. ============== Start > type in .....cmd ...........right click on the cmd.exe that shows top left > Run as Administrator At the prompt type : sfc /scannow There is a space after sfc. This will scan the system files and attempt to make corrections if errors are found. You can run this a couple of times as it sometimes picks up errors on the second scan that it missed on the first.
  8. Hi and welcome to ExTS Start .....type in ......devmgmt.msc ............ENTER Click the + next to Network Adapters 1. What is listed ? 2. Right click on the wireless adapter > Update Driver Let Windows check automatically ( you need an internet connection ) 3. What is the make and model number of the router ? 4. Try switching the router off > leave for 30 seconds > switch it on again
  9. Let's know how you get on when it arrives :)
  10. Hi Looks like the drive is failing. The Seatools DOS download ( if you didn't locate it on the other post ) is here click here This will fit on a CD. (8.5MB) Burn it to CD and put it in the drive. Switch on. This will confirm. No afraid not - 2GB or so You could ask a friend to let you have a dvd or two. :)
  11. If you are not getting any drop in connection then I suggest we don't touch anything.
  12. This is indicating that the drive is failing or has failed. Some Dell systems have a Diagnostics option. Switch on and tap F12 Take a look here for more information click here If that doesn't help take a look here: click here I think your hard drive needs testing before you try installing again - which will fail if the drive is not good. click here You need the ISO version so that you can burn it to a cd which you can use to "boot" from and run a test on the drive. The explanation is comprehensive and even explains about burning the ISO image if you need this.
  13. Was this the actual Recovery Disk that came with the machine ? I would be reluctant to try this. If it goes wrong you will not be able to do anything with this machine - not that you can do much with it now :) Can you access this BIOS ? Usually this is F2 or the DEL key. Tap it once per second after switching on. If you can get into the BIOS move around with the arrow keys. Look for Boot Order or similar ( BIOS set up is different with different machines ) Check that the CDROM is the first boot device. I know you said that this isn't possible ........... Look to see if there is an option to boot from USB ........it may say "External Device" It will tell you on screen how to move a device up the order ( usually + / - keys ) Make the CDROM the first boot device and the External USB Device as second. Save and Exit ( usually F10 ........it will say on screen ) ==================
  14. Do you have anything to connect the hard drive to another machine ? Do you have the Dell Recovery Disks ?
  15. Hi From your Mini-Dump file the problem seems to be with ....ksecdd.sys This is a Kernal Security File and is an integral part of MS System Uninstall the Canon Drivers. Do not re-install yet. Try the attachment / uploading again. If you are still getting the error .. do a System Restore to a date just prior to your problem starting. Start > type in System Restore. There is a box to check for dates older than 5 days. We will run a scan on the System Files if this doesn't resolve it.
  16. Hi Sorry .... Can you confirm please ? Did you add this to your Hosts file ? 94.127.78.91 www.habbo.com ......................[there is a space after 94.127.78.91] When you type .... www.habbo.com into the address bar { where the http\\ is } what exactly happens ? Actually you can click on the link to habbo.com in the line above :) Do you get any messages ? Which browser are you using ? Do you have a different one to try ?
  17. Hi Emma Canyou get to Advanced Startup Options ? switch on > constantly tap F8 about once per second If you can get this far try : Last Known Good Configuration Safe Mode Repair your Computer If it boots up after using Last Known Good Configuration or Safe Mode .........stop there. Do not run Repair your Computer if it isn't necessary. ============ Is there anything on the hard drive that you need to back up ? ============ If you get the blue screen again make an note of the error and STOP code please.
  18. Hi and welcome from me too :)
  19. Hi and welcome to ExTS If you are getting one beep then the initial POST test is good. Take all major connections and cards off the motherboard. ( RAM - NIC - Sound cards etc ) This includes power and data cables to hard drive and DVD drives. Disconnect any external devices. ( Keyboard etc ) Leave only the 24 way connection from the PSU Clean the contacts of the Video Card with a pencil eraser and put it back. ( assuming you have a card ) Connect up the monitor. Switch on. You should get stable graphics. (The POST beeps will be more than one this time ) What is the situation now?
  20. Hi and welcome to ExTS I am not a gamer - hopefully somebody else will be able to add something here. Download Speccy from here click here Make a note of the temperatures when the games are lagging ( post the log if you like )
  21. Hi, take a look at this advice from Startbuck click here He will want to see the MBAM and OTL logs. ( don't forget the Extras log :) ) You may need to spread them over 2 or 3 posts
  22. The best anti-Malware program out there is MBAM. The only way to know for sure is to run it. If you have Wireless Zero Configuration disabled ( by running this software ) what are you using to run and configure the network connection ? Check in Services again - what is it set to ? Take a look here: click here Don't do anything with this yet ......
  23. I prefer "if it aint broke .....don't fix it" ..........................both amount to the same thing :) Best left alone.
  24. You are now able to boot up ? Normal mode or Safe Mode only ?
