  1. Nope - unless I am confusing you with somebody else :)
  2. Hi there is a typo in post #18 ( thanks Maynard :) ) It should read ..... chkdsk J: /f
  3. You can still try the Recuva software from the link. It will take two or three hours - depends on the size of the drive and the amount of data. if you can get your data back then we can look at possibly re-installing if the hard disk itself is OK. You would need to specify which drive to scan - presumably J:
  4. Hi - sorry for the delay ..I have been away. I don't believe that this is an option in Win7. Take a look at this click here Any use ?
  5. Does your hard drive have a recovery partition on it ?
  6. Hi Do you see the full outline of the picture with 2/3 blank - or is it that the bottom 2/3 is missing completely ? If you right click on the attachment > is there an option to .....Open With If so ....Try a couple of the options see if you get the same result. Which email client are you using ? ( Outlook Express / other )
  7. PQService Partition will probably be the recovery partition. You can use this to re-install (assuming the drive is OK ) You have not told me the Operating System - is it XP ? To try to get your data off the drive try this: click here You will need to do this with the drive connected to the working machine.
  8. You can get PCIe x 1 cards. They will not give you gaming facility but it is a card :) click here ( example only )
  9. Can you double-check the drive letter in My Computer please ? Also check the spelling and spacing.
  10. Hi and welcome to ExTS The attachment is obviously opening - is the other 2/3 missing or do you have to scroll down to see it ? If you take a look at the attachment what is the file size ?
  11. Try this: Start > Run .....type in ....cmd .......Enter At the prompt ...... Then type in chkdsk J: /f ..............there is a space after chkdsk and also after J: [ EDIT ...... edited they typo out ]
  12. If it is only that specific drive I think you are justified in returning it for a replacement :)
  13. Does it have a drive letter ? If so - we can attempt to run some checks
  14. Hi plug the Belkin in and go back to Device Manager Start > type in ....devmgmt.msc ......Enter Click the + next to Network Adapters Is it listed here ? If you right click on the Monitor icon ( bottom right of screen ) does your home network show there ? If so - click on it and try to connect. If you are asked for a network key - this is the one on the back or base of the router.
  15. I think you can safely say "goodbye" to any warranty if you start pulling the drive apart :)
  16. Hi Thanks for the feedback. A faulty keyboard causing all of your problems !! Good luck with the new one :)
  17. Thanks for the feedback and good luck with your "new" machine :)
  18. Hi, Synapse is the man to answer this specific question. I will send him a message for you.
  19. Hi and welcome to ExTS Is it always the same drive causing the problem ? Have you tried swapping the drive cables over so that drive A is using the cables from drive B and vice versa.
  20. Hi and welcome to ExTS Some operating systems, (notably Windows Vista and Windows 7), do not configure themselves to load the AHCI driver upon boot if the SATA-drive controller was not in AHCI mode at the time of installation of the O/s. This can cause failure to boot, I assume that this is not the case with you as you suggest that it boots from the C: Drive ?
  21. Hi I am still nagging on about your RAM. :) Can you tell me the make and model number of your motherboard please ? Failing that - what is the make and model number of your computer ? I will take a look at the specs and see if I can find out which pair of RAM needs to be in which slots. Are the slots 2 different colours ?
  22. I have not heard this - not to say that it is not possible. I doubt though that if you could specify the location on the disk that you would notice the difference in start-up speed.
  23. Hi and welcome to ExTS This does not sound like Video Card. I will have a look at this later - my connection is about to drop - not at home at the moment
  24. Hi Richard and welcome to ExTS I know I have had a few wines tonight - but where have I seen your avatar before ?
  25. That is different. If you are not opening up the housing then you could give it a go - nothing to lose as you cannot access it anyway :)
