  1. Hi and welcome. Try running Win7 upgrade advisor http://windows.microsoft.com/upgradeadvisor It is designed to be run on XP or Vista but may tell you if there are any driver / hardware issues as you say that you upgraded from XP to 7. How much RAM do you have? Try running on 1 RAM module ( swap over if the first one gives the same result ). EDIT: I see you have 2GB RAM :)
  2. Are you sure that the connections ( power and data cable ) are good? Suggest that you remove them and re-connect. Check the motherboard end too.
  3. Hi and welcome to ExTS
  4. Hi and welcome to FPCH, I can find 2 options from the GTX480 series from the Asus site: ENGTX480/2DI/1536MD5 ENGTX480/G/2DI/1536MD5 Not sure where you got your drivers from - try direct from the Asus site. http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/NVIDIA_Series/ENGTX480G2DI1536MD5/ If the drivers are up-to-date try taking one of the RAM modules out and running on the other. Swap them over if the problem is the same. I am thinking that there may be a problem with one of the modules. Failing that: If you have a different Video card - try running on this.
  5. Neill10 and Lexmark 36 are correct. If you navigate to Start > Control Panel > Sound Click on the Sounds tab. Scroll down to "Device Connect" and click on it to highlight. Click on "Test" Your mystery sound will be replicated. Hope this helps :)
  6. Hi, If the WPS button on the front panel doesn't do what you expect .... Type 192.168.1.254 into the address bar and gain access to your Router software. Search for Wireless and then look for Access Point. There should be an option there to enable / disable. If you disable this the Wireless LED should go out on the front of the router. You could also disable "Broadcast SSID"
  7. Cannot EDIT previous post - annoying ! Also ...... The recommended resolution for your monitor is 1920 x 1080 - what is your laptop set to ?
  8. Hi Amy and welcome :) Has the screen suddenly gone like this ? The manual for your screen is here: http://www.lg.com/uk/support/product/support-product-profile.jsp?customerModelCode=W2253V-PF&initialTab=warranty&targetPage=support-product-profile# Page 24 explains how to set it. Have you installed the driver that came with the screen ?
  9. Hi, 1 long + 3 short beeps is usually linked to a video error. Either a fault with the card or the m/board itself. Do you have onboard video in addition to the card? If so - take the card out and try using the onboard. Not sure if you are running from the onboard connection at the moment - are you ?
  10. According to the specs I found - there is a VGA port on that laptop so you should be good to go :)
  11. Hi, Let me be the first to welcome you to ExTS :)
  12. Hi, I have looked on the PB site and can see no mention of 1307 under the imedia options. See here: http://www.packardbell.co.uk/pb/en/GB/content/download There is an XP compatible driver ( PV U09 ) ?? There is an option to d/l some software to identify the hardware on your system. Click on the "i" in the circle. Let us know how you get on.

  14. Hi RayB Until you posted with the extra information it was both :)
  15. Hi Dalo, As I understand it, this is correct for an OEM installation. With a full retail version, it is OK to re-install as long as the OS is only installed on one computer. This being the case - keeping the HDD with the installed OS on it and changing the motherboard etc would be inline with the EULA. If this is the case then a Repair Install using the original CD would be the way to go. Assuming that RayB has a full retail version of XP. Am I wrong?
  16. Let us know how you get on. :)

  20. Hi, You may wish to consider: Antec / Corsair / Enermax
  21. Hi, If you put 1600 RAM into a motherboard that supports only 1333 then the RAM will run at the max speed of the m/board. (1333) There is nothing to be gained by buying the more expansive 1600 unless, as you say, you are going to use it for a future build.
  22. Hi, From the Product Description: RAM Technology: DDR3 (Dual Channel) RAM Slots : 4 x 240-Pin RAM Speeds: DDR3 800, DDR3 1066, DDR3 1333, DDR3 1600 (O.C) Max. Memory Support: 16GB The m/b will support 16GB so your 4 x 2GB is fine. The m/b also supports DDR3 so your choice looks fine. Dalo ( hardware specialist ) will hopefully confirm :)
  23. Hi and welcome to fpch. No. Your hard drive is used to install the Operating System, software etc. Before you install Windows the hard drive basically a blank canvas. If you have deleted a document - have you looked in the recycle bin ? There is a CMOS battery on the motherboard that can cause this problem. It may need replacing.
