  1. Hi, If you google "Soundblaster 16 ebay" you should get a few options. Are you sure that it is not suggesting "Soundblaster compatible" ?
  2. Hi, Sorry this is a bit late. If you are still having problems ............ This could well be your problem. If the new motherboard is not exactly the same as the old one then your machine will invariably refuse to boot up. Windows is "clever" enough to recognise that it is in a different environment.
  3. This could well be the problem. (Although it seems strange that it works ok in one location ). If you replace a hard-drive with another - presumably using the OS on the replacement hard drive - there are invariably problems. Windows is "clever" enough to recognise a different environment and, usually, refuses to boot unless the motherboard is exactly the same as the original.
  4. Hi, If the original is a full installation of XP then you should be able to borrow a disk. You will need to ensure that the OS you are borrowing and installing is exactly the same as the original that the existing product code relates to. ( Pro / Home / Media etc )
  5. I have just tried this importing Internet Explorer Favorits to Opera. I got them all. Are you sure that you imported them from the correct location? You could always create a file on the desktop - call it "favorites". Copy the F-F favorites to this folder. Open Opera and follow the import wizard. When it comes to locating the folder direct it to the newly created "favorites" folder on the desktop. I have just tried this method and it works too.
  6. Hi and welcome to fpch There is an explanation here: Opera 9 Bookmarks - How to Import Firefox Bookmarks To Opera 9 For Windows - About Web Browsers Assuming you have Opera v9
  7. Happy Birthday Randy :)
  8. Hi, When I read through your post I did think PSU. As this seems to be the only major piece of hardware that you have not tried swapping - I suggest that you try to borrow one / buy a cheap one. Just because there seems to be power there it doesn't indicate that the PSU is performing properly.
  9. Hi, You didn't reply to my post on the other forum where you posted this very same question under the name of gillyd.
  10. Hi and welcome to fpch. I am sure somebody here will be able to help.
  11. Hi and welcome to fpch If both of you cannot access the net wirelessly then it looks like the problem lies with the router. Try switching it off at the wall and leave for a minute. Switch on again. The router will re-boot and reset itself.
  12. Start >All Programs > Acer > Empowering Technology > Acer Recovery Management From here you can backup Drivers and also Backup Factory Defaults to DVD
  13. Hi, Is your Vista system 32 bit or 64 bit ? Did you d/l the correct drivers from here? Freedomâ„¢ 2.4 Cordless Joystick
  14. Hi and welcome to fpch Download this: VLC Media Player - Download Use it to try to play your DVDs. Let us know the results :)
  15. How do you know? Have you tested the voltages or are you assuming it works because the LEDs are lit? Have you tested it on another machine? Did you try the m/board out of the case?
  16. Is the wireless LAN LED lit on the front of your router ? This is the second LED from the left. It should be lit green. If it isn't .... On the back of the router there is a reset. You can try resetting the router to default settings by pressing this for 10 seconds. In the router settings: Make sure that "Broadcast SSID" has a check against it. You can find this where you changed the channel number. Your manual is available here: http://cache-www.belkin.com/support/dl/p74559-a_f5d7230-4_man_6-04.pdf Mac Address Filtering is an option - suggested in an earlier post. See page 72. make sure this feature is off. Also see page 74 - Blocking ping. Uncheck this if it is ticked - you can always go back and enable it. (this will not be the cause of you not being able to connect to the net - but you may be able to ping the router )
  17. What is the model number of your Belkin Router ?
  18. The green light is not an indication that all is well. If the case speaker is connected ... you should get POST. Unscrew the retaining screws that hold the m/board to the case. Sit the board on some card or a folded newspaper. Try booting again. If it POSTs now you had a short between the board and the case. Failing that - you have a problem woth either the PSU or the motherboard. If you have a spare PSU ( even a low wattage one ) give that a try.
  19. I have just simulated your wireless results: C:\Users\Ken>ping 192.168.1.1 Pinging 192.168.1.1 with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 192.168.1.2: Destination host unreachable. Reply from 192.168.1.2: Destination host unreachable. Reply from 192.168.1.2: Destination host unreachable. Request timed out. Ping statistics for 192.168.1.1: I switched off my wireless connection. I am fairly sure that the problem lies with your laptop and not the router settings. Do you get the same results if you use the wireless adapter ? Are you sure that the wireless connection switch is on and the LED lit ?
  20. Hi and welcome to fpch I suggest that you strip it down again. Take all cards ( RAM / Sound / Video etc ) off the m/board. Disconnect the hard drive / dvd drive data cables from the m/board. Take the molex power connections off the hard drive / dvd drive. Leave only the 20(4) way connector from the PSU connected. Switch on. You should get POST beeps if there is an onboard speaker or the case speaker is connected. Put one card / connection back at a time - each time checking for POST. Get back to us with results and further details.
  21. Shouldn't be ..... Can you post tthe results here so we can take a look.
  22. Hi, Wirelessly ( no cable connected ) ... Start > Help and Support > Troubleshooting > Network Connectivity Problems / Internet Connection Problems This is worth a shot - it will probably come back with "Error identified but can't do anything about it" :)
  23. Hi Bob, Aus Government web site: Queensland floods : Queensland Government
  24. With the ethernet cable connected .... Ping the router. Start > Run ...type in ....cmd .....ENTER Type .....ping 192.168.2.1 ( or whatever combination you used to access the router ) You should get 4 packets sent and 4 received. No errors. Do the same wirelessly. Again you should get 4 sent and received. ============================== Wirelessly ......at the prompt type ipconfig /all ( space after ipconfig ) right click > select all CTRL + C then paste the results here. ( CTRL + V )
  25. Glad to hear that you got it sorted - well done :)
