  1. Hi George There is little you can do to upgrade that particular machine. The CPU and the Graphics "Card" are just not up to it and, as already stated, they are just chips soldered into the motherboard. :(
  2. Did you try the link I gave you ? It may well be that your present machine could just run the games that you want. Either way - The machine will be fine for basic usage - internet, emails etc.
  3. You don't wish to post the link to the Speccy analysis? ?? OK. Based on the info I have: 1. You have Win7 64 bit OS ............... good 2. You have a slow Intel 2 Core CPU ....not good....and no option to upgrade 3. You have 2GB RAM ..... not good ...... possibility of upgrading. 4. I don't know what motherboard you have - so cannot advise regarding RAM upgrade 5. The Video "Card" is actually an on-board chip.....not good .... not easy to upgrade. The only realistic thing you can do with that system is to add more RAM - but how much is determined by the limitations of the motherboard. FIFA 12 recommended system requirements Intel Core2 2.6GHz CPU GForce 880 GS Video Card 2GB RAM 6GB Free hard drive space Your system could possibly just run this. Try this link: click here
  4. I would have preferred the link to the analysis You have a 64 bit system. Just realised .....are you building from scratch ? The system from the image you provide ( 64 bit ) could take more RAM. There is only 2GB installed. CPU is slow(ish) Looks as if there is only a 40GB hard drive Is this an old system that has had a new version of Win 7 installed ? Is this the system you are adapting for your wife ?
  5. Hi Kev, I think Starbuck or Seedy may need to have a look at your system - just in case. Take a look here - click here - and post the logs.
  6. No rush - let me have the details when you can
  7. Didn't realise I had been promoted :) You are welcome George.
  8. Hi George, Is this a 64 bit machine? It is easier if you run "Speccy" and give us a link to the analysis. click here You want the free option. Install > Run ......after it creates the analysis report ..... Click on File > Publish Snapshot > Click on "Yes" Copy the address [ Click on "Copy to Clipboard" ] Paste it here [ CTRL + V ] It does not give any personal information - just data from the machine itself.
  9. More detail as to what is happening exactly - plus any error messages / pop-up boxes would help :)
  10. Hi The drives are the same. You need to know if it is a 2.5 or 3.5 inch as external drives can be either. The 2.5 inch external caddies are quite small. The 3.5 inch tend to be rather "chunky" Take it out and measure it. If you are unsure - post the sizes here.
  11. Let me know how you get on :)
  12. Hi and welcome to ExTS :) Not really my area of expertise .......does this help at all ? click here You could try "Mailwasher" [ free ] click here This allows you to delete unwanted email before it gets onto your computer. It doesn't do it automatically so is a little painstaking ...but it does give you control of what gets through :)
  13. Hi, Has Windows-10 actually installed or are you still on an earlier Operating System ? If so - what is the Operating System on the machine ? This implies that you can boot up the machine. By looping .....do you get a pop-up box asking you to update ......or is it an error ? Can you let me have more detail please? If it is a pop-up what is written in the box?
  14. Hi, If you can take the hard-drive out of the enclosure you can try hooking it up to one of these: click here I have found with 3.5 inch desktop drives [ laptop drives are 2.5 inch ] that they need extra power The USB Port provides 5v You didn't say what size hard-drive it is. If you need extra power for a 3.5 inch drive something like this will do the job click here For info .....PATA drives are often referred to as IDE drives. Hopefully the problem will lie with the enclosure circuitry and your actual drive will be OK :)
  15. Hi and welcome to ExTS. We will help if we can :)
  16. Hi George try the following: This assumes that your font size is set to greater than 100% Right click on your desktop > Screen Resolution Click the Make text and other items larger or smaller link Switch to Smaller – 100% and click Apply Restart your computer and try again. You can also try .... Open Screen Resolution by clicking the Start button http://res2.windows.microsoft.com/resbox/en/windows%207/main/4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33_818.jpg, clicking Control Panel, and then, under Appearance and Personalization, clicking Adjust screen resolution. This will get you there too.
  17. Cheers Bob :)
  18. Hi George What is the Operating System on the problem machine please ?
  19. Hi Bob Win10 does not have "Easy Transfer" I am afraid. Microsoft has, however, teamed up with the company that produce PCmover - which you can download to both computers for free. http://pcmoverfree.azurewebsites.net/ Both computers will need access to the internet, Read this http://www.thewindowsclub.com/pcmover-express-windows-xp-review-download The free version is limited in what it will transfer. My Documents / My Pictures / My Music appear to be the only folders that will be transferred. After reading the above you may decide that it is easier to do it manually. It really depends on what your friend wants to transfer. You could simply copy to a pen drive / external hard drive and then copy them across. This way you have a backup too. You could attach the old drive via a suitable device ( caddy / attachment cable ) to the USB port and copy direct from the drive to the new machine. Obviously this entails removing the hard drive from the old machine.
  20. The joys of owning a computer Jim :)
  21. Hi Pauline Download Speccy from here - the FREE version. https://www.piriform.com/speccy/download Install and run it. Read each of the installation pages - sometimes there are additional installs that you do not want - if there are any just uncheck the boxes. After it scans your system click on CPU It may tell you here. If not - post what it does say and we may be able to get further information for you :)
  22. Glad you managed to sort it Jim :)
  23. Excellent! Thanks for the additional feedback :)
  24. . I am fine thank you :)
