1. This is what I get Jim The left tab is the SRWare one that is the default [ this can be removed ] The others are what I have added. If the link to your email is not showing try following the instructions again. I seem to remember that I had an initial problem too. If you go back to "Open a Specific Page" it should show you here the URLs that you have. If your email one is not showing it needs to be added again.
2. Hi BJ Are you still having problems ?
3. Hi Jim, Open your email inbox and copy the URL from the top. Open SRWare Top right there are 3 short horizontal black lines [ Customise and Control ] click on these Then click on "Settings" You then need the "On Start Up" - put a check in "Open a Specific Page ....." and then click "Set Pages" Here you can control what loads when you open the browser. Click in "Add New Page" box and paste your email URL - click OK You can add other pages too if you wish. You will need to shut SRWare down and open it again for the pages to add. When you open SRWare your email tab will open at the top -simply click on this to take you to your Inbox. Hope this helps.
4. I will mark this up as "Solved" :)
5. No worries Clive - I throw my rattle out of the pram from time to time :) Give Open Office a try and save yourself £300 :) :)
6. Hi Clive, The 6-33 am recorded on the other site could be an incorrect time on their server [ unlikely ] or a completely different time zone if you say you posted them at the same time. No matter - I accept that you were not wasting my time :) Re Amazon: Anybody can register with Amazon and sound like a legitimate company. The can operate from home or even a garden shed. You are not to know. I had occasion to complain to Amazon re. my account being hacked on one occasion - got nowhere!! They even blamed me for making my details public !!! They are not as reputable as eBay I am sorry to say. Personally I wouldn't bother with M$ and their very expensive Office software. Give Open Office a try. It looks and feels like M$ Office. Totally free. It is also compatible with M$ Office - so original Office files will open in Open Office. You can save files in Open Office format [ can't open with M$ Office ] or choose to save them in M$ format. Also lots of forums and tutorials if you cannot find how to do a specific task. You can give it a try - if it doesn't fit the bill [ I can see no reason why it will not ] leave it on your system and install M$ Office. I stopped using M$ Office years ago. click here No need to download the Language Pack.
7. Hi and welcome :) I used log tables throughout :) To try to answer your questions: You will not be able to get passed the installation process without a legitimate product key. click here If you find that the Product Key is not being accepted you can contact M$ and let them know where you bought it. [ they will not reimburse you ] Or - Contact the seller and ask for money back or you will pass on their details to M$ who will take legal action. Mainstream Support has finished but Extended Support finishes in 2020. Extended Support includes Critical Updates. I see no reason why not. Presumably the Product Key is not in use on another machine ? Not sure. By "English" do you mean UK English spelling ? If so this can be changed from US if necessary from within Office. click here If it installs then the Product Key would seem to be legitimate. I cannot confirm or otherwise what they have stated. It doesn't seem logical to produce DVDs in 3 different locations. I did look up M$ Ireland and no mention is made of production facilities. They do provide support for Europe - Africa etc but this is not production. click here Not sure how much you paid for this version but if it was cheap then I would be suspicious. eBay sellers are rated. Was this person anywhere near 100% after a large number of sales? eBay also have a grievance procedure which seems to favour the buyer. Now that you have it you have two options: 1. Try installing. 2. If installation fails contact seller / eBay / M$ EDIT: Is this you posted on another site over 12 hours ago [it is now 6-40 pm here in UK ] ? It seems I have wasted a good hour of my time researching this for nothing You had 10 or 11 hours to let us know so that I didn't waste my time !!
8. Hi Jim I am trialing SRWare Iron too. Let me know what you think.
9. Enjoy your holiday Ray :)
10. No - I don't think so. It was initially developed in China around the 1980s and is supposed to be compatible with MS Office. Let me know how you get on :)
11. Hi, WPS Office [ Writer - Presentation - Spreadsheets ] was previously known as Kingsoft Office. Has your father somehow installed this Chinese-based software ? [ WPS Office ] Ask him to look in Add or Remove to see if it is installed. If so - remove it. Search Option [ magnifying glass - usually bottom left ] - type in ....add remove ....click on the Add or Remove that appears left of screen. Alternatively he can install Revo Uninstaller from here - click here This will list everything that is installed and it is a simple case of selecting what you want to remove and click on "Uninstall" Make sure you get the Free version.
12. Hi Jim, They will keep trying !! :) Take a look at the F-Fox link I sent you. As an alternative you may be interested in one of these smaller, lesser known, browsers - click here There are others too. I used to use SRWare Iron - I have just downloaded it again and it is vastly different from the original. This is based on Chrome but without the Google tracking etc. click here [ I may go back to using this :) ] You can have as many browsers on your system as you like. :) Let me know if you are still having problems.
13. Hi Jim M$oft have not supported IE for some time now. Has it been hijacked? yes - by M$oft !! I suspect you are being offered "Chrome" as an alternative to IE. I have this on my system. You can get it here - click here Regarding your F-Fox .....it could be a corrupt cookie(s) You can try deleting cookies / history on F-Fox. click here You will need to log-in again with name and password on sites like this that use cookies to store your details.
14. Hi Jim, I gather that you would prefer to keep F-F. Try resetting it. click here This often solves niggling problems :)
15. Hi Neil, If the 8 GB is working - this is more than enough. It is not necessary to spend out on a further 8GB ........unless you specifically want to. The intermittent boot-up could be due to a failing PSU. Get back to me after you have had BT upgrade your system.
16. Hi Ray Try deleting the cookies on your machine. One or more could be corrupt. Take a look here - click here Sites like ours - that use cookies to store your login information - will need your login name and password next time to try to access them. It may be a good idea to check passwords before you delete the cookies.
17. Hi Ray Have you tried a different browser? If you are using Chrome - try something like FireFox. [ You can have more than one browser on your system without any problems ] Get FireFox here - click here
18. Hi Neil I don't really trust software to test RAM - please confirm that you have tried booting up with just TWO modules in place [ the other two out ] And that you have tried various combinations of two modules. If your RAM slots are colour coded then use two modules in the same colour. It could be that 2 modules have a problem - hence trying them in different combinations. I don't suppose you have other compatible RAM that you could try ? ================= If the RAM proves to be OK then I am thinking that it could be Hard-Disk related. Have you run a test on this at all ? If so - which one ? If it is hard disk related then you would be best advised to backup anything that you don't want to lose. [ just in case :) ]
19. Starbuck is on holiday for a while - I am sure he will pick this up on his return :)
20. Hi Neil You said in your first post that you have problems starting up and the machine is running slower and slower. This could be RAM related. You have 4GB which is probably in 2 modules. Switch off at the wall. I suggest that you take the side panel off and remove just one of the RAM modules. Try booting up now. If still a problem - swap the RAM modules and try booting up with the other one. 2GB is not really enough for 64 bit systems but it should boot up OK for testing. Your temperatures look fine :)
21. Hi and welcome to ExTS from me. After cleaning the dust away as Starbuck suggests download "Speccy" from here - click here You want the Free Version. Install and run it. I am interested in any temperatures that it indicates. It is no use running this when the system is not under load - so run a game and run Speccy at the same time to see what it comes up with.
22. Hi and welcome to ExTS From your pics it looks as if the manufacturer could be "Genuine" as this is on the case and optical drive. I have searched and cannot come up with a manufacturer by that name. Which country was it bought in ?
23. Hi Paul and welcome to ExTS I am sorry for this slow response - I have been on holiday. Cards work on other M-Boards but not on yours. It sounds like a m-board problem at a first guess. Let me know if you are still having problems.
24. Neil, Let me have the "Speccy" link that Starbuck advised you to post and we can take it from there :) Please confirm - your PSU = 460 Watt ?
25. Crucial Scan is usually pretty accurate otherwise we [ and other tech sites ] wouldn't recommend it. If, as I said before, your start-up problems started after you put in new RAM then this is the obvious place to start looking for a solution.
