Hi You could try deleting the Upper and Lower Filters from the registry. click here [ saves me typing ! ] You will just need to click on the Start > ...type in ......regedit .....ENTER To "open the path" you click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE then the > next to SYSTEM ......etc. If anything is different after that then stop and ask. If you decide to do this please be very careful and only do exactly what is described in the link. The Registry is very sensitive :)

Hi John With XP it is possible to do a "repair installation" of the Operating-System. This basically re-installs the OS over the top of the problem one. Files, data etc are unaffected .......but, if you decide that you want to go down this route then I would be inclined to backup any important material to an external source. You would need a full installation disk ( not recovery disks ) click here Also - if you are using IE7 or IE8 this will need to be uninstalled prior to the repair otherwise Internet Explorer will not function after the repair.

If this is the case you may be able to get them back with Rucuva click here EaseUs is another option click here You should be able to search for specific file formats.

Hi Does it show up in Device Management ? Windows Key + S > type in .....device manager.... Click on the Device Manager box. Is SD Host Adapter listed? Are there any yellow exclamation marks or red Xs ?

Hi Some web-pages are protected - an attempt to stop pirating. Take a look here - click here This does not explain why you cannot copy emails that you have sent. One way may be to use PrtSc ( print screen ) copy it to Paint then crop it to fit. You will not be able to edit this as it will be saved as an image.

Hi Jim Open Office uses .ods format by default. .xls is a Microsoft format. This is available - but you need to select it before you save. Have you searched for .ods ? Or are you sure that you saved them in .xls format ?

Hi John The system file check is normal after a crash that you describe. "Asking for a Windows Pro disk ...." your profile says " XP Home" Is this correct ?

Hi John From time to time this does happen. Windows does, more often than not, have the facility to correct itself when this occurs. If the machine is running ok then I would ignore it. Don't fix what isn't broken. :) The error message that you have posted refers to a mini-dump file. This is the location of the information Windows has gathered relating to the problem. Our problem is that more often than not, the information stored makes no sense at all.

Hi I don't have Works to compare so can only make general suggestions. Is it only Works that you are having a problem with cutting and pasting ? If you highlight > CTRL + C then use CTRL + V does this work? Does CTRL + V work with Notepad ?

Hi Very often this sort of behaviour can be directed to the PSU. Do you have another one that you can try? It doesn't need to be the same wattage - even less will do to test. The problem with intermittent problems like this is that they are very difficult to pin down. It could be the m-board it could also be RAM or virtually any hardware. Let's stick with PSU for the moment.

Hi I have created a new thread for you :) I am not sure that this is the same in OE6 - but give it a try ... Tools > Options > Send > Mail Sending Format > HTML Settings. Make sure Send pictures with messagesis checked.

Hi As Nev says - the only real test for a graphics-card is to swap it for a known good one. Is this a possibility ? I don't want to suggest that you buy a new card only to find that you have the same problem. :)

Hi and welcome. I can't add much to what Nev has said. I am puzzled over this statement ... Overpowered plug ?? I assume the Blue Ray drive was powered by an adapter and connected by USB-cable to the laptop ? There are 4 wires in a USB-cable. An output 5v and Earth..........and a Data + and Data - The 5v is used to power external devices ( unless they have their own power source ) This is normally 500 mA Unless there was a short on the USB-cable from the Blue Ray device I can't see how this would have damaged the USB port on the laptop. I would be tempted to test this before connecting it to another laptop. Take a look at the laptop USB-port. If this is showing signs of burning it may be that the short is here. [ATTACH=CONFIG]1440.vB5-legacyid=2524[/ATTACH] =========== Have you tried battery only on the laptop ? One other thing to try - unplug from the mains and take the battery out. Leave for an hour or more try it again.

Hi Norman Install EaseUS This video will explain how easy it is to expand C: - This is an older version of EaseUS so it may be slightly different. You will need at least 100mb of free space on C: otherwise install EaseUS on D: If unsure - just ask. If you install on D: then you will not be able to move all of D: to C:. Install on C: if you can. Best to back up anything on D: that is wanted. If there is nothing on D: that is needed then you should be able to incorporate all of D: onto C:

As Kernel said - it is not possible to exchange this specific CPU for a "better" one. [ not for the average person anyway ] This particular IC has a FCBGA1023 socket. The 1023 usually refers to the number of pins. BGA [ Ball Grid Array ] is a method of mounting the IC onto the motherboard. Basically there are rows of small solder balls instead of the usual pins. To replace an IC of this type you need specialised equipment.
