Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows Vista (KB2792100) Installation date: 18/02/2013 1:16 PM Installation status: Failed Error details: Code 8007371C Update type: Important Security issues have been identified that could allow an attacker to compromise a system that is running Microsoft Internet Explorer and gain control over it. You can help protect your system by installing this update from Microsoft. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer. I have run Fix the problem with Microsoft Windows Updates and it say it is fixed but I still get the same error when I try and re install. What can be done to fix this ? View this thread

After downloading Overdrive MEDIA PLAYER. I must download media player security upgrade as always. I've never had trouble till I tried putting it on Windows 8 Pro. After a successful download. I must download the media player security upgrade.( It seems like whenever Microsoft comes out with another operating system I must download the same old upgrade.). A popup box tells me" windows media player encountered a problem while playing The file". Then no upgrade. I've looked for answers but cannot find the right one.. Mark Harbester View this thread

Found out I have a spoofed copy of Windows Ultimate, received a replacement as a gift but it is Home Premium instead. Is there a non-destructive way to downgrade Windows to Home Premium this since it won't accept the key, and opened software is non-returnable? Stripping and rebuilding the hard drive is as welcome as receiving a rectal exam by Andre the Giant. Thanks! View this thread

My Windows 8 PC has just shown me an error that it's not checked for updates for over 30 days... This is because whenever it tries to check, it just gets stuck in the "Checking for updates" screen and gets no further than that. I've left it trying for the whole of the last weekend and nothing's happened. I've tried the Troubleshooter, I've restarted several times and my internet connection is fine. What else could be wrong? Approximately 1 week ago, there were 9 new Windows updates and 2 Office 2007. My computer is automatically set up to update when I shut down. Every time I restart my computer, I cannot access Internet Explorer 9 and I must run a system restore to delete these updates and then go through the process again every time I reboot my computer. I have tried to trouble shoot the problem with installing updates on windows.microsoft.com and have done a check through SFC/scannow. I am running Windows 7 and have Norton 360 Premiere Edition. My computer is a Sony VAIO 64 bit Intel ®, Core i3 CPU. The following package of 11 updates seem to be the culprit but I have no way of knowing if it is 1, all, or a combination. KB's, 2792100, 2797052, 2789645, 2789642, 2778344, 2790113, 2790655, 2799494, 890830, 2596620, 2767916. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciate! Brenda View this thread

Failed to configure windows 7 (64 bit) update
AWS posted a topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
I cannot run windows update successfully. I can download and install the files. After the PC restarts and begins to "configure" it wil stop at 15% completed every single time and then say "failed to configure, reverting back to previous". This has been happening for months and I've tried everything. Here what I usually see after I try to update and then check my update history (there are actually more failed instances that I could show in the screen capture): View this thread -

Hi, I tried to install a new mouse and keyboard set on my comp...It detected an issue with disc c. and suggested a scan disc would solve the problem.. I tried to run a scan disc on startup. another error message saying i needed to do a system restore before a scan disc could be done. So, I tryed to restore to a safe point but another error message says I need to run a scan disc before i can restore the system!! Catch 22.....what do I do now?? View this thread

Hi,Here is the problem : When I tried to install ACT! 2013 Premium on computer's client, I got this error :Framework .NET 4 cannot be installed because windows update does'nt seems to work properly.I already be in touch with Sage ACT! support and they tried several solution but nothing work really :Here is the report from the ACT! support Advisor :--- --- ---Unfortunately I’ve been unable to resolve the issue as it appears to be a fault within Windows itself with the Windows Installer/Microsoft Update. I’ve included a copy of my notes from the call so that you don’t have to start from scratch but unfortunately there is no further support beyond what I’ve provided that we would be able to offer at this point. I’ve left the dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe on the desktop (standalone installer for .NET 4) if you think you’ve resolved the issues with Windows or simply want to test to see the error first hand run this and you should be able to see if the problem is resolved. Certainly there’s no point trying to uninstall/reinstall ACT! until this update will successfully install. Products • Current Act Version: 2011 Pro • Current Act Build: 13.1 HF6 • Upgrading to Act Version: 2013 Premium • Upgrading to Act Build: 15.0 ThirdParty • Os: Windows 7 Ultimate • Bit: 64-bit • AntiVirus: Avast! Actions • Uninstalled ACT! 2011 Pro • Got a message when trying to install 2013 Premium • Error .NET framework failed to install • As no other details tried to install .NET from the standalone installer on microsoft.com and got an error 0xc8000247 • Disabled Avast temporarily and got the same error • Checked add/remove and .NET client profiler was installed • Ran a repair on that and then installed act again • This time .NET install seemed to go through successfully • PC rebooted and continued install • Seemed to setup IIS and reboot • Windows tried to install .NET again after the restart stated no to the reboot and continued the install of ACT itself • When it tried to open ACT! after the install it stated that .NET was not installed • Removed .NET from add/remove • Couldn't install with the same issue • Turned off .NET 3.5 and rebooted • Turned back on and rebooted • Tried to install .NET 4 and the same issue • Started to suspect an issue with Windows installer and tried to check for Windows Updates and appears Windows Update also doesn't work • Ran the Microsoft fix it utility for Windows Update • Windows update still won't run • Trying to run it gives the error that the Windows Update service is not started and a reboot may be required • Rebooted and got the same error • Confirmed that the service is started • Tried restarting the services and getting the same error afterwards • Advised Roger that unfortunately I really cannot assist any further as I was already significantly beyond the remit of ACT! Support and would have to speak with his PC support • Uninstalled ACT! 2013 and reinstalled 2011 so that customer can use remote DB's again • Will be unable to use ACT! 2013 until issues with the Microsoft Installer/Windows Update have been resolved --- --- --- If you already face this issue, could you please help me providing some advice to solve this ? Thank you in advance. Jerome View this thread
