I can no longer run windows update from my regular user account. It used to run fine, although I cannot remember exactly when it stopped working from my regular user account. I get the "could not search for new updates - code 80080005" error. From the administrator account, windows update runs fine. I tried the fixit tool and the problem remains. Could this be some type of permissions error? I recently had some significant problem with uninstalling Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express (some type of CLR routine kept trying to run and it took 6 hours to uninstall) and I also had to uninstall the IE 10 beta because of problems it caused in the WinAmp browser window. I can't resolve the issue without an email as I have no TDD. I installed Win 8 on a HP PC but not enough RAM. I can't uninstall it as the door is broken now to put the CD in. I installed on the newer laptop but can't activate Win8 as it says product key in use on another PC. That HP drive will be wiped and PC tossed. How to contact MS support and tell them to activate it? I downloaded and paid for 1 windows 8 (w8) upgrade using my windows vista laptop. I was able to use Freeisoburner to burn an iso dvd . I used this iso dvd to install the windows 8 upgrade onto my windows xp which met the min requirements. The installation was running well but I stopped. Instead I used the iso dvd and installed the w8 successfully onto the windows vista laptop. This is the good news. I thought I have proved that a download from one computer can be installed on another pc. The problem is that I was so encouraged I went ahead to pay and download 2 more w8 upgrades. I thought my vista laptop could not do the job now as it is now a w8 pc. So I used my windows 7 laptop (64bit) to download the 2 w8 upgrades. Again I used the w7 and Freeisoburner to burn an iso dvd and put it on my xp pc. It said the iso was for 64 bit and cannot be installed my the xp pc (32 bit.) I then copied one w8 download onto a dvd. Put this dvd onto my office xp pc (32 bit). Using this office xp pc and the Freeisoburner , I burned an iso dvd , thinking this will solve the 64 to 32 bit problem. I put this iso dvd onto my home xp pc to install the w8. The pc said this is a wrong version and cannot be installed. So I have 2 w8 downloads. One I cannot install onto my home xp pc. Another one sitting on my w7 laptop that I dont wish to try. Any help how I can install the w8 uprade onto my home xp pc???? I cannot afford to download a w8 upgrade now using my office xp pc.as it costs $200. I paid $39.99 for each upgrade in January. I've been unable to fully install Microsoft Updates for quite a while now; some updates install; a lot do not. On the ones not installed, I get a response that such Microsoft Updates were not installed because of error. I've tried the Win 7 Microsoft Updates troubleshooting; at the end of the process it said it was successfully able to resolve the problem. Not so. Since about NOV 2012 My PSI shows KB890830 is end of life and has no updates and suggests I remove it from programs. I cannot find it in programs to remove. Is it true there are no updates? My Windows installer has stopped working properly and I can't download updates. I currently have 97 of them that I have tried repeatedly to download..manually and from the internet. Hi, I have checked installed updates on my pc and surprised to see 332 updates are installed on the system. If it is safe or I need to uninstall older updates?. I started to do a manual scan with Security Essencials and I couldn't find it in my on my deskto. quick links, or in the program list. I tried to reinstall to clean up the problem , but got the message to remove the old verison first, which I have done. Then when I tried to dre-install I get an Error Code 0x80070643 after the instlation starts. I have followed all of the instructions for this code, at least three times in case I missed a step. No joy. I had Mcafee on this system at first, but removed it a year or so back and installed Security essentials. I had Norton utilities 16 on also but I uninstalled that. I tried to run the norton Deep uninstall and it kept showing Norton Utilities 14 as installed. A call to Norton and they hooked up and cleared a couple regerstry hang overs and then ran the deep install. This didn't change my problem I am at wits end on this one. Where to go from here? When I first updated Win 7 to Win 8, there was a "Windows Update" entry as the last item in the "PC Settings" when I used the Settings Charm. It is no longer listed. If I search for Windows Update and click on the Tile which is found, it switches to the "PC Settings" page but displays a "Page not found" error. Any idea how to fix this? View this thread

Hi there, I have read through the other threads with the same problem of my windows running on a loop at the "configuring updates: stage 3 of 3 a 0% complete" and so far I have had no luck with the suggestions. So far I have tried: Do nothing - same screen but continuous looping of the screen F11 goes into the stage 3 of 3 screen F8: Safe mode - lists of loaded things/ numbers then a please wait, then same screen Safe mode with networking - lists of numbers then a please wait, then same screen Safe mode with command prompt - lists of numbers then a please wait, then same screen Last known good configuration (advanced) - same screen Directory services restore mode - lists of loaded things/numbers, then turns laptop up, upon switching on again choice of start windows in repair (doesn't let me do that) or normally - back to same screen again Debugging mode - same screen Disable automatic restart on system failure - same screen Disable driver signature enforcement - same screen Start windows normally - same screen I do not have a Windows recovery disc, Windows Vista was ore installed on my laptop. I had to purchase this update a second time for the update to work. I would like a refund of this charge back to my credit card . This is the tird time I have tried to contact you for a response?? As it is this update does not work 100% with my HP IQ 500 touch screen so I am disappointed in this program and will probably have to back to my original Vista install making this a waste of time and mney.
