My laptop is now not supported from Fujisu Seimens as it is 5 years old and I cannot update drivers for free. 20. I recently updated to Windows 8. I was trying to download the skype app and it wasn't starting so I had the computer install updates and restart. It froze in the update section (25 minutes no hard drive activity "Please wait while windows installs update 1 of 1") so I had to turn off with power button and restart. It loaded the updates and then the skype app installed and everything worked great. Except that every time I right click in the windows explorer box it freezes and shuts down (if I am trying to select photos to upload to the internet say in Chrome, it also crashes Chrome) I was going to try and reinstall the update, but I cannot get to the windows updates area. Every time I select it from the windows explorer box, it freezes completely. I would do a refresh of windows 8, but I would rather not have to reinstall all of my adobe software, steam and a few others. Is there anyway I can fix this without refreshing my computer? 23. Windows update keeps asking to update the same Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (KB936330) over and over again. I have tried Microsoft Fix It and the Micorsoft Super Scan to see if my laptop is infected with a virus and everything seems to be ok. No virus, no maleware, no problems. Nothing seems to stop the update icon from appearing on the bottom toolbar of my screen every 2 minutes. What can I do to stop this from happening? It's like this update isn't being recognized. What's up with that? My laptop is a Windows HP Vista, 2007. I do not have the funds to go out to purchase a brand new 2013 model, please help, much appreciated & many thanks. View this thread
  24. Error code 0x800F0906 when installing .NET Framework 3.5 --- Says your not connected to the internet even thought you are connected. --------This is not really a question, but a possible solution to this problem. PLEASE NOTE that this error occurred in my situation and the solution MAY NOT apply in all cases. ------ I had this problem when I was trying to install the HP Device Detection on the HP site. I was also having some other issues which I thought is was a problem with Windows 8. I determined that my issues were caused by installing the latest version of Avast! Antivirus which is suppose to be compatible with Windows 8 ( of course, I disabled the built-in Windows Defender before installing Avast! AV). After uninstalling Avast! AV and re-enabling Windows Defender, my issues disappeared. The other issues were that sites I visited, after installing Avast! Antivirus, would not load correctly or just not load at all. One of the sites that wouldn't load was Avast! [/i]protection "shields", the site loaded properly. I turned on the "shields back on and tried adjusting the protection levels of the "shields", but that didn't solve the problem, so I just uninstalled Avast! AV. I don't know if this is the case in your situation, you might try disabling the "real-time" protection on your antivirus, ONLY IF you are using a different antivirus protection other than the Windows Defender built in to Windows 8. If this solves your problem, you may have to contact your AV software manufacturer and notify them of the issue if you prefer to use that AV software. Please note that using antivirus products that include firewall and other protections (INTERNET SECURITY) may also cause problems. View this thread
  25. Microsoft Security Essentials "detects" an item on my pc that it doesn't recognize, and requests that I submit the file. Two problems with this. First, the "item" is a well known legal billing and litigation planning software that I have used for years. Second, I have sent the file in at least ten times, but the notice keeps coming up, and has done so well over one hundred times. How do I make this stop? View this thread
