Hi, I started this process because my OHs computer was getting an error when Windows checked for updates. So I was following the Microsoft steps to try and resolve it. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968003?ppud=4&wa=wsignin1.0#top First I did a full scan with the anti-virus on the PC, Kaspersky Internet Security, which found nothing. Then I ran the Microsoft Safety Scanner which found 3 threats: Exploit:java/CVE-2009-3867.CA - Removed Exploit:java/CVE-2009-3869.O - Removed Exploit:java/CVE-2008-5353.CG - Partially removed I've looked at the encyclopedia page for the exploit but it doesn't say how to get rid of it completely. I use Windows Vista Business and Windows Update has stopped working - I get an error message when I try to update - Error Msg 800B0100. It hasn’t worked since June this year. Hello, I have a bunch of old computer lying around and I want to sell them. I have the xp home install cd that came with one of them so i am wondering if it would be illegal to use that cd on all the computers. From my research I learned that my cd has a built in product key and then on some forums it said it was illegal to use the same product key on more than one computer. If it is illegal then can I just change the product key to the one on the side of the computer? Please help View this thread

I have a pavilion g6 AMD 64x processor. I purchased this computer on October 16th, 2012. I upgraded to Windows 8 about two weeks ago. I deeply regret upgrading to Windows 8 and would not recommend it to anyone with this laptop until they fix the issues. My computer is seriously screwed up now and it is all because of Windows 8. I have contacted Microsoft 4 times about my updates stalling at 13%. Each time the updates are forced through and I am able to restart my computer without problems; until a few days later when my computer tries to update again and then I am back to the original problem of not being able to update and stalling at 13%. This process takes HOURS until finally I get a message saying update failed, reverting changes.I have an error code - 800F0920. I am extremely frustrated and this is going to end up costing me a lot of money. The only reason I upgraded is because I had a promo code to upgrade free when I bought my computer. Now, this is going to cost because I am afraid I am going to have to purchase windows 7 and go back to that unless there is something someone can do to help. Here is what I have done so far to try and fix this problem: Uninstalled Norton, installed windows defender. Contacted Microsoft 4x, gained remote access and used command prompt to install updates and fix computer health Uninstalled AMD High definition audio devices, manually installed updates successfully; audio devices re-installed on their own after updates. Refreshed my PC, re-downloaded all necessary software that was taken off of my computer after refreshing Attempted to manually install updates, but when computer needs to restart it again stalls at 13% Some of these solutions have worked for that time, but like I said, once the update comes up again in a couple days or even the next day the issues start all over. Got a new HP laptop with windows 8. It's been running great.. very fast start up time. The last auto Windows update (yesterday) took about a half hour to install and restart. My laptop was very slow after that.. almost like dial up (I have Hi Speed wireless.. 20mbps) I changed the settings and un-installed the latest update. That took just as long. But after that it has been running great again. But windows keeps giving me messages to change my settings back to keep up to date. Says it is very important to do this. What happens if I don't? I like the speed I have now.. and it does everything I need as is. Advice? View this thread

I have my computer tethered to my android smartphone (HTC Wildfire S) It works great...except it appears to be invisable! I just built this computer; Windows 7 x64 asus motherboard intel i3 dual core processor lots of memory and other bells and whistles. You need for a new computer to have a visable internet connection, because all of your programs want to be updated... including windows update. I bought a broadband to go adapter for just such an emergency, but I'd like to get this fixed as I hate virgin mobile and their "unlimited plans". Help View this thread

Lately, like a number of other posters, I have been deluged with scam solicitations from, purportedly, the Benin Republic or Ghana stating that I have won a fortune, or that a trunk is waiting to be delivered to me, or that I am the recipient of an ATM card worth millions. All I need do is supply name, address, phone number, email address, profession, etc. Of course, I know this is a scam/phishing, but have become so frustrated with their audacity that I have composed a threatening and cryptic "reply." I do not, however, open any attachments. This approach seems to have no effect, and these lowlifes, losers and criminals continue their emails, sometimes 7-8 a day at a clip. These morons also have a terrible command of the English language, which is amusing, because some of them pose as solicitors, barrister, and priests. They are fearless and are not intimidated, probably because they are half-way around the globe and believe themselves to be impervious. Interestingly, as soon as I turn on my computer in the morning, I receive at least one of these emails within a matter of minutes, leading me to believe there is a cookie deposited on my computer that tips them off, but I don't know which cookie, and I am not even sure about that. I have pretty good anti-virus software and malware: Norton 360, Webroot Secure Anywhere, and East-Tec Eraser. This, unfortunately, is not enough to run the interference I need for this type of scam/phishing. There must be a way to pre-empt these emails, but I am at a loss to know how. I'm surprised the authorities are not on this more than they are. Any suggestions? View this thread

To whom it may concern at Microsoft. Today I received a phone call from someone who claimed to be a technician from Microsoft. He called me from 1(651)420-1786. He had me push the "windows" key next to the "Ctrl" key and at the same time, push the "r" key. this brought up a window which he had me type in "eventvwr" and push enter. this brought up a screen and he had me click on the "custom views" folder and then the "administrative events" within that folder. this showed me some error problems. then he had me close that window, and again he had me push the "windows" key next to the "Ctrl" key and at the same time, push the "r" key. then he had me type in "iexplore support.me" which brought up an internet window that wanted a 6 digit code. He then wanted to provide me with that code, a code for a year would cost $100.00, and he offered a code that would be good for 2 years or I could purchase a code good for life. I did not trust him, so I am trying to send you this email to inform you about this. View this thread

Using Windows 7. Microsoft Security Essentials will not automatically start on boot up. Must manually start and the application then must apply for permission before starting. Have tried Startup folder as well as Task Scheduler to no avail. View this thread

When I try to print out a page all I get is the page 1 of 1 at top and the file trail at the bottom of the page. When I try to view what I want to print it only shows the page 1 of 1 at the top of the page and the file trail at the bottom of the page. I can see what I want to print but in print preview it doesn't shhow. All also copied and pasted it in Windows with the same results. When I copy and paste to Jarte I see it in Print Preview and also can print it. View this thread

My laptop completed a series of windows updates and after restarting I get nothing just a black screen that doesn't even look turned on, there are no messages, nothing. The fan is running and the HD light flashes every 5 - 10 seconds but that's it. I'm not that knowledgable about computers so I have no idea how to fix this, any help would be appreciated.
