I have Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP2. Getting the 80070490 error on Windows update installs. The following solutions recommended by what have been able to find have not worked: I have tried Microsoft Readiness tool several time with no success. I have tried using my Vista system disk with using the UPGRADE option also several time and still no success. The upgrade option is always grayed out. I have done a new INSTALL 2 different times. I then run the Windows Update, over and over with each levels reboot. I have noticed that over the last month or so I have been unable to install my windows updates and have found that my BITS service is missing. I have also just purchased a download of Windows 8 Pro but am having trouble getting it downloaded and think that maybe not having the latest windows 7 updates and missing BITS service could be the reason why Please could someone help me. Has anyone had this problem...I opened an email from a friend inviting me to see photographs on his Facebook, and the link took me instead to a site called Voosk, which I stupidly opened, because it then sent the same invitation to everyone in my contacts (who are pretty annoyed). After finally upgrading to Windows 8 with a lot of trouble, I finally have it on my laptop. It looks beautiful, I love the feel of it and it seems like it will do very well. However, when I upgraded I only chose the option of keeping personal files, as it wouldn't let me upgrade if I did it along with files and settings. Now Microsoft Word 2010 is gone. Also, many other programs are gone as well. To add to the troubles, the app store won't let me download apps. Whenever I try to it says that something went wrong and my purchase couldn't be completed. I have all my information in and all the correct billing information in, but it still won't let me. Hi there: At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I'm also having issues with the Update KB2756872 (and also KB2769165, KB2770917). I have a brand new Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13, fresh install of Windows 8, just picked up yesterday. I've attempted the fixes listed here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2777330. Have Trend Micro Titanium newly installed, fully updated. Tried also disabling it to run the update, no joy. Uninstalled audio and video drivers (tried each, then both together) and attempted the update, no joy. Also tried to download and run the updates manually, all failed. And last I tried the System Update Readiness Tool instructions for Windows 8 detailed here with no joy: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821. Can try cleaning out the update cache? Not sure if there are any other fixes I can attempt here, but more than willing. Would really rather not have to go through a fresh Windows 8 install, as this laptop came with no install media and it would involve jumping through more hoops. Thanks much! View this thread

Since the Windows 7 auto download and update on November 16, 2012 my Windows x64 Profressional system take a very long time to boot, it starts normally, then the video goes blank for several minutes(I get no signal on my monitor), all my usb devices (N52te speed pad, G15 keyboard, G7 laser mouse) have no lights, and disk activity is very minimal for few minutes, then my screen and usb come back it fully boots. Also my Windows Security Essential popups and tells me real time protection is turned off. My system ran fine until this update. It is an ASUS P8Z68-V GEN3 and Core i7 2600k with 16Gb RAM. I just run XMP profile for the turbo mode. View this thread
