I have a fairly new Toshiba laptop which has replaced my old Dell working on Vista. The Toshiba works on Windows 7 premium, I am utterly amazed at the amount of updates that are coming thru, virtually every time I switch it off, it updates. This is approx every other day, I have used Microsoft from Windows 95 onwards & have never had an operating system that updated as often as this, its as tho they only did half the job when it was released and are still trying to fix it now. My main problem is that when I shut down at night it goes for an update and at times it takes ages, there have been a number of times it has still been updating when I come down in the morning, its rediculous. the troubleshooter finds no problem at all. I find I need to unplug and remove the batteries to get it back working again. View this thread

I've had this problem since 2012.4.25. When i try to run windows update it says "Windows could not search for updates. Error code 8007007E". I'm using Windows 7 64 bit. I've already tried fixing the problem from control panel with "fix problems with windows update" I've also tried Microsoft Fix It program. I did SFC /SCANNOW procedure and followed instructions in this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833 and there i found in the sfc details that there were some problems with sppc.dll file. In the file there was often similar texts like below. I have downloaded and installed 'Abine' DNT+ do not track software, but operation is blocked. I reeive the following popup message: Uh-oh, DNT+ wasn't allowed to communicate like normal, it's DNTPService.exe was terminated. This is often caused by overactive antivirus or security software. First, try restarting Internet Explorer. If that doesn't bring you joy, you may need to configure your security software to allow the DNTPService.exe process to run. I have followed the steps idicated steps including contacting Abine without success. Machine Dell 610 Latitude Laptop WinXP Pro SP3; IE8; Microsoft Security Essentials MS is updated regularly as is the AV. I disabled MS Essentials including the Firewall - No Joy I do not believe there is any other active scaning security software running on this machie. Do you have any ideas what is blocking this app? I ran the Upgrade Advisor and i realized i have the net.framework 1.1 which is not compatable, I then downloaded the upgrade to 4.0, it seemed to succesfully install, i rebooted the computer, but everytime i run the upgrade advisor, it still says i have net.framework 1.1. So it setups up the install and then it logs of to apply changes, when it gets to the booting/loading screen it starts downloading for awhile then it says an error message but disappears before i could read it, it then says Windows 8 Release could not download. Is there something i can do to fix this? Also i can not connect my iPod Touch 2g to iTunes, nor the iPod Touch 4g, but my ipod Classic connects perfectly and i know it has something to do with Windows 8 because both of the iPods are able to connect on other computers. One more thing, my DVD Drive IS detectible but for some reason when i try to play a movie or media disc, it says this: This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel. Which i do have Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center, and i associated this with Windows Media Player, but i still get the same error. One last thing, this is not really a problem but i a lot of people do not care for the fish boot up screen and were all wondering if it's going to be changed. View this thread

This error code, # 80070663, has been blocking any attempts to run Windows Update for months. Update NEVER works. Windows Update appears to be the single biggest cause of problems on my computer. The ICON stays in my tray everyday and despite running the update all the time it simply never works. Occasionally, If there are like 12 updates, all but 9 will work but these same 9 FAIL everytime. For about the last week Security Essentials pre-release version 4.0.1540.0 on Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 shows "PC status: potentially unprotected, even after repeated quick scans and a full scan. The scans are all error-free. I always update the definitions before starting the scan. I do not use any "cleaner" programs which are accused of wiping out the MSE log file. I have used MSE for many months, so there are no residual anti virus programs laying around. View this thread
